We had a party of 5 today for lunch and everything was great! The meatball sub was huge and those meatballs are exceptional, very big and lots of flavor. My friend had chicken piccata which she loved. Another friend had the sausage peppers sub, again huge and very good. The pasta fagiole soup was the best I ever had and I order it a lot everywhere. I asked for a little bowl so my friend could try it and they gave her a small bowl of it. It was the best she has ever had also. Another friend had the minestrone, it was so good she took one home. My eggplant rollatini was very good, The only criticism would be thicker eggplant slices and more seasoning. If you love sweets.... Lookout because their showcase of sweets is amazing. The food was outstanding! Italy, move over!! This place is the real deal. Sal, whose folks own the place, told us that "only Family works the line" so they keep the cooking in the family! And it was EXCEPTIONAL. The 'gravy' was some of the best we've ever had and the Veal Parm and Chicken Parm were phenomenal. I would suggest they make their Caesar dressing though. What they use isn't the very best. I have an absolutely FABULOUS recipe that I'm gonna take with us next time we go!!! Don't mean that as a slam, because it was all really, really good! The ambiance is just fine....We were so genuinely happy for the quality that we only noticed how amazingly CLEAN the place is, which is always a great thing! Can't beat the price for excellent meal. Eggplant Parm was sliced so thin and the sauce was flavorful without being too salty. With delicious bread and salad and a side order of pasta included and a large serving of eggplant, all for $18. Amazing. read more

Authentic New York-Style Pizza in SWFL! This weekend, I had the chance to try 500 Degrees for takeout, and I was impressed. I had a pepperoni pizza and a plain cheese pizza, and both were among the best New York-style pies I've had in Southwest Florida. The crust was spot-on--thin and crispy on the outside with a perfectly chewy inside. The sauce was rich and slightly sweet, complementing the generous amount of mozzarella cheese on top. Folding a slice in half, the way a true NY pizza should be eaten, felt just right. 500 Degrees clearly knows what they're doing when it comes to pizza. I'm late to the game trying 500°, considering I've heard rave reviews for months! Decided to go yesterday with my parents for my birthday lunch, and believe me, the cuisine lived up to the hype! Mom and I both had eggplant rolitini, as it's one of our faves, and the eggplant dishes were highly recommended. It was quite possibly the best I've ever had... very lightly breaded, stuffed with ricotta, and smothered in delicious sauce and mozz. This $20 meal came with delicious fresh bread with a garlic dipping sauce, a house salad, and pasta and will easily be three meals by the time I'm done with leftovers!! My Dad had the meatball sub and loved it... note it was huge and he took half home for dinner! Already sent the menu to my other half so I can pickup takeout next week! read more

We were excited to try 500 degrees given the high rating. Unfortunately it's very noisy and the metal chairs are uncomfortable. The salad itself was crisp unfortunately the dressing is bottle with the Italian extremely sweet. The prices are fair and reasonable. I truly don't like to give any negative reviews to smaller self-owned non-corporate businesses. Unfortunately, given the high ratings I think it's only fair to give a fair review. read more

Very Disappointed in this newly open Italian place. Wanted to like the food but it's just not what I thought. Everything they serve is like they are saving money on ingredients. It's always so little. Sicilian pizza for example had very little toppings including cheese. It's like having bread. The white pizza was so dry and almost burnt. Cheesesteak beef was OK but too much bread and barely any cheese. Focaccia sandwich chicken, pesto with roasted red peppers was so very small. I was very impressed with this cute Italian restaurant by my home. The food and service were excellent . My husband and I ordered the calamari it was delicious. My husband had veal parmigiana and I ordered the eggplant. You have a choice of soup or salad with that . The food portions were great. The taste was excellent. The food dishes are outstanding with large portions for us big guys, and for those little guys enough for lunch the next day. All the soups are made from old school recipes. I have eaten there several times and is now my go to place for Italian. Honestly, not sure what the hype is about this place. Walked in at lunch. Two tables occupied and maybe 4 tables still had still not been cleaned from previous guests. Was told to take a seat and someone would be over. Had to have them wipe the table down we chose even though it was set for the next guest. The waitress came over and didn't even greet us, just asked what we wanted to drink. Again it wasn't busy at that time. Ordered brick sandwiches. They were okay but nothing to write home about. Lunch was reasonably priced but doubt I'll ever visit again. Another table had to ask to have their table wiped down again as well. We have tried it once when they first opened and had a lovely dinner. Brought friends a few weeks ago and had a terrible experience. My husband's spaghetti he said "tasted like the sauce came from a bottle." My manicotti looked like it has slid off the plate and they slid it back on. The first time I got 3 manicotti pieces on a platter. The second visit it was two pieces. I'm not sure what happened because when I looked over to another table they were 3 pieces on a mother persons plate. I went in again on Sunday (we always give restaurants 2-3 chances before we make a final decision) and ordered take out. I ordered takeout this time. I ordered the manicotti again and received 2 pieces, salad and had to ask for the bread. After eating one piece, I got food poisoning and was sick until it all was out of my system. I/we will never be back. We certainly do not recommend. It's a shame because at first we had high hopes. read more
