    Chicken Parm

The food was outstanding! Italy, move over!! This place is the real deal. Sal, whose folks own the place, told us that "only Family works the line" so they keep the cooking in the family! And it was EXCEPTIONAL. The 'gravy' was some of the best we've ever had and the Veal Parm and Chicken Parm were phenomenal. I would suggest they make their Caesar dressing though. What they use isn't the very best. I have an absolutely FABULOUS recipe that I'm gonna take with us next time we go!!! Don't mean that as a slam, because it was all really, really good! The ambiance is just fine....We were so genuinely happy for the quality that we only noticed how amazingly CLEAN the place is, which is always a great thing! Bread is excellent and the evoo garlic dip was to die for!!! Thank you Sal, Adrienne and family! Well-done! You gotta try this place...we're going back soon!!!!

Some of the best food you will find in Venice! Focaccia bread is made daily in house and nothing but the best ingredients. If you haven't tried this place you should. Haven't had a bad meal here since this place opened.

Calamari was fishy smelling and didn't love their Italian dishes. Wanted to really like this place, but it was a no-go for us. Sorry!

It has always been our go-to. This past Sunday, our experience was deeply disappointing and frankly unlike anything we have encountered here before. We ordered two pizzas and salads. The margherita pizza -- which my parents had ordered just one week prior without any issues -- arrived completely different. It had an additional cheese layered beneath the fresh mozzarella that was overcooked and almost burnt. The crust on both pizzas was so hard it could not be folded (anyone from the East Coast knows you fold your pizza), and my son was unable to cut through it with a knife and fork. It was inedible. We sent both pizzas back. The server returned and offered to remake only one, insisting the second was fine. It was not. When we pointed out that the margherita is traditionally just fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, and basil -- and that this was not what was served -- we were told "this is how we do it." We have been ordering this pizza for seven years. It was not how they do it. The one pizza that was remade came back only marginally better. We did not ask again. From that point, our table was completely abandoned. Every glass at our table was empty. Not the server, not a busser, not a single person passing by stopped to offer water or check on us. My father eventually had to go inside to find someone. My son had to walk to our car in the parking lot to retrieve his water bottle, and I went to my car to get a sparkling water I happened to have in the cup holder. That is how thirsty we were and how little attention our table received. The indifference started even before the food arrived. When we declined cocktails and handed back the drink list, letting the server know we would all just be having water, the reaction was visibly dismissive and unwelcoming -- not the kind of response anyone expects when simply choosing not to order alcohol. The hostess, as has been the case on prior visits, was visibly disgruntled and unwelcoming. We understand that Sunday service is busy. We were patient and did not make a scene. We simply wanted food that was edible and basic attentiveness as paying customers. Neither was provided. My mother, who has been one of their most consistent regulars, left saying she did not want to return. That says everything. For a restaurant that benefits enormously from a captive local audience and steady tourist traffic, this level of disregard for loyal, long-term customers is disappointing. We hope management takes this feedback seriously.

My Ravioli di Mare was delicious with excellent sauce - shrimp were decent - doubt if they're local. My partner's Strozzapreti Chianti was also an excellent choice. Very nice noodles. Salads were very good. Drinks were good. Restaurant was nice. The not so good - I made a reservation for two. So when we got there only two tables in the restaurant were occupied. We were placed right next to a couple whom I believe thought we were uncomfortably close. No reason for that as the place wasn't busy and we could've sat elsewhere. The place is expensive. More than it should've been. But that doesn't detract from the food which was very good so the price isn't a show-stopper. All except for the limoncello desert. Tasted like it was store bought - expect better for nearly $11 a slice. But the topper for us was - With just two tables occupied - the other couple had left - a Medical professional (who most likely just got off her shift) came in by herself looking for a table. She was told they couldn't accommodate her - they were closing early and she was turned away. The place was no where near closing time - no closed sign on the door. We both found that off-putting. Hence the 3 stars which otherwise would've been 4. Whether we will return there. Si' o No? I'll leave it at that... Buona sera. Buona sera.

This place is the opposite of a chain restaurant. It's clearly a family business that takes pride in preparing every dish. The service was outstanding; the staff was attentive and on top of everything. My wife and I split an appetizer: meatballs with marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese. The dish was perfectly executed. I found it hearty, satisfying, and full of authentic Italian flavor. The menu features many daily specials, and today the veal parmesan caught my eye. The cutlets were beautifully prepared. Pounded thin, they were tender, and topped with a rich, fresh marinara sauce. The cheese was bubbly and golden. All the elements came together in a dish finished to perfection. The pasta was homemade spaghetti, cooked tender yet firm, and generously coated in marinara sauce. I would order this meal again, but there are so many other items on the daily specials list to try. I can't wait to come back.

Tonight, our last night in Sarasota before we move back to Minnesota, we had the perfect perfect old world, family restaurant home cooked supper - - three generations. There was one other couple that arrived and a couple of people at the bar. We did get there at 8:00 p.m. and they close at 9:00 so that may have had something to do with it. It's a very small place. There are nine tables and can accommodate about 35 diners. They only offer beer and wine. I ordered the seafood special with fra' diablo sauce (spicy). It was very good and the linguine was cooked perfectly. I was (pleasantly) surprised the spicy had a bit of kick to it. The Caesars salad was a bit salty but the bread was quite good and hot. Only one bread basket was served and we went through it quickly as we waited 30 minutes for our meals. The dishes were nice sized portions so that was a plus. Although I finished my meal, many would probably opt for a doggie bag. For dessert I had the spumoni bomb which is simply encased in a chocolate shell. It looked quite enticing and it was tasty but it wasn't spumoni but Neapolitan ice cream. Our server paid more attention to the second table of diners (a couple) than us. I noticed their wine glasses had a more generous pour than my glass and neglected us in deference to the other table (there were only two tables dining). My friend had the chicken linguine in Alfredo sauce and he liked his meal. The ambiance is almost like eating in someone's house because it is so small. The service could have been better as it was obvious she paid more attention to the other diners than us (never brought a bowl and fork for the mussels/clams and kept us waiting to collect the tab. I finally just put cash in the folder and left. Food gets 4.5/5. Ambiance gets 3/5 and service gets 2.5/5. It gets an extra hit because how obvious the service/attention between the two tables. I was also surprised by the bill. It was much higher than I anticipated. I could see coming for a date night but I probably wouldn't return otherwise. I would give it a 3.75/5 stars.
