The most amazing thing about this bar??? The view!!! You ride the ski lift to the top of Beech Mountain to access the bar. The ride up is great with lots of scenic views. The bar was super crowded due the 4th of July weekend. The bartenders had a little difficulty keeping up with the crowd and orders. This is probably not how it is on a non-holiday weekend. The selection of craft beer was good and there is a full bar. There was a small kitchen serving Mexican. We tried the nachos which were tasty. We sat an outside table and listened to the live music. It was a little dirty and no one ever wiped the tables which is the reason for the 4 stars. read more

Opened Thursday to Sunday, lift tickets are $22 each. It's one time up and one time down. Gorgeous views. Nice selection of beer also wine and cocktails. Corn hole, frisbee golf and mountain biking to enjoy of just watch. This is one of our favorite date days together. read more

Buyer beware. The Sunset Dinner was cancelled at the 5506 venue and held instead in the Village Tap Room due to weather although it turned out to be a beautiful evening. When we requested to cancel and reschedule for another date, we were told no cancellation or reschedule was permitted. The food that was served was not only cold but horrible. Sent our plates back but no one bothered to even come to our table to hear why. We weren't the only ones that felt cheated. read more

Bar with a great view!! Definitely worth the $10 ski lift ride to the top of the mountain. They have cold beers from Beech Mountain brewery, ciders, wines. This place is a great hang out with corn hole, great music selections and friendly bartenders. read more

July 26, 2024... We were supposed to have a $90 meal on top of the mountain. However, they cancelled it at 12pm with no rain in sight. They gave us a $22 credit, no refunds. Rethink booking this until the day of. read more

The bar did a great job regulating crowds! There was a line to get in and groups that were together were allowed in to order drinks once the previous group left. The bartenders were professional and poured a good, strong drink !!! Prices are appropriate for a ski resort (read: a little high but the drinks are strong so...) The selection of liquor, beer, and snacks were perfect - the only thing better was the stools on the deck to lookout onto the long range Mountain View's. Excellent!! There are single use bathrooms there too, be prepared to wait in line for those. But you have great views and great drinks to tide you over in the meantime! read more

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 preteens) joined the twice a month dinner on 7/8. We arrived at the lift at 5:45pm, and had a lovely summer view of the mountain on the way up. The summit was breathtaking and grew lovelier as we enjoyed appetizers, then dinner and dessert. We choose duck and Cornish hens, and the food was delicious and service was excellent. I'm fascinated this meal could come together so well. We stayed till the last shuttle right before sunset and played a bit of Cornhole on the top of the mountain. Dinner was by reservation only, and it was not crowded, very peaceful. Worth it! read more

This bar is amazing with spectacular views! The bar tender was so friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed talking to him. They have clean bathrooms and comfy chairs to look out at the mountain. Great experience great views pretty decent live music. The only drawbacks are it's self service bar side then back to your table. Unfortunately there are no food options so if you want to have something to eat along with your drinks you should pick up food at the ski resort before taking the chairlift up to the top. read more

This is alway a super spot to visit. Cam and Billy do a fantastic job tending the bar and they always have cold beer to quench your thirst. They've done a fine job of working with COVID-19 restrictions and the view from the deck is stunning. Whether hiking or biking, stop in and enjoy 5506 on top of Beech. When visiting Beech Mountain you can take the lift up to the top where you end up at 5506' Skybar. This place is really neat with great views and awesome heights. It is basically a deck structure with a glass surround the interior bar. The deck has benches and chairs, though you may need to scrape off the ice before sitting down to enjoy your alcohol. The bartender who helped us served us beers and strong rum & cokes. The pricing was really great too for about $5-6 a drink. I think you can have snacks here as well, but we settled with just a drink. Most people were inside watch sports on the TV. I feel like if I had the time I would spend a few hours here just drinking and chatting it up with people. Behind the building was a set of beach relaxing chairs and you can take some funny photos there. Snap photographs of the amazing view, take shots, and warm yourself up. Now once you are done drinking and socializing be prepared to go down the blue or black diamond slopes! read more

So first time in three years going up here and my goodness the bartender was so friendly. I thought maybe he suspected I was someone else he personally knew. He gave me a taste of the local lager which was quite good and I ordered that. The view can't be topped , literally! At the highest elevation the views were spectacular.
