Honey butter rolls = heaven!!!! How something so seemingly simple can taste so amazing is beyond me, but there it is. I also had a cup of the pork belly brunswick soup and it was quite good! Went on first Tuesday night they were open. We were couple #2 and they were happy to see us. Enjoyed our meal and a very nice waitress. I had one of their specials, which was a sausage boudin, since I'm a Cajun food lover. The wife had their burger and fries. Vidalia has been a solid go to dinner spot on our visits to Boone for a few years now. Wait staff is friendly and attentive, even on a lively home game weekend. There's nice wine choices. The menu is limited but varied, with some specials that quickly sell out. Dinner for 2 with wine averages $100 for us. This time the spinach salad with strawberries, goat cheese, pecans, granny apples and vinaigrette with grilled shrimp added was my choice and it was very good. My date had the roast on risotto with vegetables and it all was delicious. Private parking is available but tight especially if more than sedan sized vehicles there. We stumbled on Vidalia after not lucking out with a few other places down town. We sat out on the porch in early November and with the heaters the temperature was fine. All the staff were super friendly and our server Anna was a star, attentive without being overbearing. The food was fantastic. I had fried cheese grits and my wife had a butternut squash curry soup. I really don't know how to even rate my first experience at Vidalia's. My boyfriend and I chose to have a nice dinner to celebrate our anniversary as Vidalia has been his favorite restaurant in Boone. Our food was great. We started with a half order of onion rings and shared a bowl of venison vegetable stew. He had the chicken and waffles, I had the shrimp and grits. We don't drink so we wanted to have some N/A cocktails. The first one I had they couldn't make exact because they were out of cherries. Then the second one I wanted... out of the main ingredient. My boyfriend asked for a THC soda. The refrigerator was broken and couldn't be opened. Our server never even spoke to us. She didn't ask how the food was... not for appetizers and not for our main course. It felt like she was avoiding us like the plague. We wanted dessert but couldn't ruin our anniversary for one more moment with a server who has the personality of a wet noodle. We were also sat at a 2-top on the back wall with a brown paper table cloth. It was nice to feel like we had more private dining but no other tables that I saw had only a paper table cloth. On top of all of this, we ordered appetizers and entrees at the same time. It felt like an hour between each dish hitting the table. We hadn't even gotten our stew yet and a table that came in quite some time after us had already received entrees. A different server made sure that we had waters and the bartender was the only person to give us information on the bar drinks. Front of house staff needs to be polite and engage with their guests to make it a full experience. Personally, our server may excel somewhere like McDonald's. read more

Y'ALL. Vidalia is Boone's (and maybe North Carolina's) best kept secret. We have been here for brunch many times and loved the chicken & waffles, but we decided to have dinner here tonight and cannot overstate how phenomenal our entire experience was. Our waitress, Joan, was wonderful. Our Charleston-brewed IPAs on special were tasty. The $1 yeast rolls with honey butter were hot and flavorful and everything you could ask for. And the ENTREES - first of all, I couldn't get over the impeccable presentation of both of our dishes. Beautiful colors, sauce drizzled, edible flowers... truly looked like plates you'd get at a Michelin star restaurant. As for the food itself, both of our dishes knocked it out of the park. I got the Merguez lamb sausages over rice/mushrooms with pickled onions, peas & other delicious things (loved the combination of spicy & sweet going on with that), and my husband had the pork "burnt ends" over mac & cheese with cracklins and fresh veggies (we both don't usually go for mac & cheese and we both agreed Vidalia's was the best we'd ever tasted). Better come early to this place (or have a reservation). Our wait time was just under an hour for two seats at the bar. It turned out great since our bartender Lauren was fantastic! My bride ordered the Carolina Gold Rice Bowl ($20) and the presentation was attractive and my wife enjoyed the dish and said it was little "spicy" (maybe the pickled carrots). I went with the Salmon ($28) and it was well prepared and I thoroughly enjoyed it. When we are back in the area....we would definitely come again! read more

Very rude when we came in and didn't have a reservation they treated us like second-class citizens. Then, there was no somelier at the so-called wine bar, nor were there any flights of wine. The two wines that we tried, tasted like $10 bottles that had been opened for way too long. Inside was very bright lighting and, not warm and welcoming at all. The food was absolutely stellar, the staff were some of the most friendly people we have been around and the prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality of food and service you're provided. Presentation was 5/5. Actual experience was 2-3/10. Im bummed because I had high expectations based off the atmosphere and menu. The biscuit was EXTREMELY dry and there was hardly any gravy on my biscuit. When I asked for more the waitress told me there would be a charge (even though it comes on my meal) and when I got my bill it was an extra $2.50(!!) for a small cup of extra gravy. The worst part was that when I actually got to taste the gravy I paid extra for it had a smell/taste of peanut butter. I had a few other people at my table try it and they also thought it tasted like peanut butter which was weird. The "over easy egg" was completely fried and was not runny at all which likely contributed to the dish being dry. The only thing done right was the breading on the chicken which was fantastic- light and crunchy, but overshadowed by dryness of the chicken. . Service wasn't great- our waitress came to take our order and check once on food and didn't bring water when we requested more. Food took nearly an hour when there wasn't many other tables present. We could see our server just standing at the bar laughing and joking with bartenders for most of the time we were there. I had the pork belly and my wife got the chicken and waffles. Chicken and waffles were good and priced well. My dish was mostly cabbage with a side of pork belly. The pork was average tasty. Over priced at 28 dollars considering the 6 small slices of meat. Mac was good. This probably isn't the place to get pork belly, though. So I guess that's on me. read more

My husband and I visited Vidalia recently. Our experience was far from the great reviews we read. Honestly, I can't speak to the food or beverages, because we never got that far. We were there 30 minutes. The waitress came by finally after 15 minutes to take a drink order that she never brought after another 15 minutes. At the 20 minute mark, as we watch another table that came in way after us get drinks, we decided to cut our losses at 30 minutes. Besides, parking is quite difficult. Had a craving for a great burger so I questioned our server about the $17 burger on the menu. My husband ordered the steak. I specifically ask our server if the burger was cooked to order and she said it was. Ordered my burger medium and even explained that I wanted it pink in the center.
