    Chocolate layer cake dessert

Anna and Ellie did an outstanding job as our servers. And they were shorthanded tonight! The food was DC-worthy. NC Trout and Salmon entrees were beautiful and delicious. So much so that no picture! Dessert of chocolate cake was delightful. No reservation so we were seated near the kitchen but it was great! Servers were very attentive. Absolutely lovely dinner spot in downtown Boone.

Honey butter rolls = heaven!!!! How something so seemingly simple can taste so amazing is beyond me, but there it is. I also had a cup of the pork belly brunswick soup and it was quite good! For entrees we selected the bibimbap and the halibut special. The halibut was definitely the better of the two items. Be sure to make reservations, as Vidalia is very popular.

Vidalia has been a solid go to dinner spot on our visits to Boone for a few years now. Wait staff is friendly and attentive, even on a lively home game weekend. There's nice wine choices. The menu is limited but varied, with some specials that quickly sell out. Dinner for 2 with wine averages $100 for us. This time the spinach salad with strawberries, goat cheese, pecans, granny apples and vinaigrette with grilled shrimp added was my choice and it was very good. My date had the roast on risotto with vegetables and it all was delicious. Private parking is available but tight especially if more than sedan sized vehicles there. Reservations recommended on weekends.

Y'ALL. Vidalia is Boone's (and maybe North Carolina's) best kept secret. We have been here for brunch many times and loved the chicken & waffles, but we decided to have dinner here tonight and cannot overstate how phenomenal our entire experience was. Our waitress, Joan, was wonderful. Our Charleston-brewed IPAs on special were tasty. The $1 yeast rolls with honey butter were hot and flavorful and everything you could ask for. And the ENTREES - first of all, I couldn't get over the impeccable presentation of both of our dishes. Beautiful colors, sauce drizzled, edible flowers... truly looked like plates you'd get at a Michelin star restaurant. As for the food itself, both of our dishes knocked it out of the park. I got the Merguez lamb sausages over rice/mushrooms with pickled onions, peas & other delicious things (loved the combination of spicy & sweet going on with that), and my husband had the pork "burnt ends" over mac & cheese with cracklins and fresh veggies (we both don't usually go for mac & cheese and we both agreed Vidalia's was the best we'd ever tasted). I can't say enough good things in this review. Wonderful, laid back atmosphere, great local ingredients, clearly hardworking kitchen & front-of-house staff... Vidalia, we love you.

Absolutely amazing wine and food ! I sat at the bar and had a risotto which they were able to make without mushrooms due to allergies and I had fantastic wine. Tomato salad was ok!

Better come early to this place (or have a reservation). Our wait time was just under an hour for two seats at the bar. It turned out great since our bartender Lauren was fantastic! My bride ordered the Carolina Gold Rice Bowl ($20) and the presentation was attractive and my wife enjoyed the dish and said it was little "spicy" (maybe the pickled carrots). I went with the Salmon ($28) and it was well prepared and I thoroughly enjoyed it. When we are back in the area....we would definitely come again!

'The Gamekeeper', what name could be more intriguing for a unique dining experience? I was not disappointed in the food. All selections were ideally prepared, seasonally balanced, and well paired. What I was really pleased about was the service. The staff elevate the entire experience. To name one or two would leave out what was an incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and cohesive Team. I would certainly recommend The Gamekeeper to anyone looking for the complete dining experience.

The wine and cocktails assistance was great and the mixed grill appetizers were perfect. The bison short ribs are killer. A very enjoyable evening. Everyone in the party raved about the meal and service. Bravo to the chef, staff and management. Our first trip to the area proved challenging on a rainy night in the mountains. We opted for transport via uber and Lyft services. FYI it's almost impossible to confirm service in Blowing Rock. With no show transportation at 9:30 pm the staff jumped into action. Lucky for us the one driver that did show agreed make 2 trips.

Note, however, that if you're looking for private secluded spaces, this may not be the spot. We were able to be seated immediately upon arrival, and our server was promptly by the table to go over the menu with us. We each ordered a cocktail and the skillet chocolate chip cookie. The skillet chocolate chip cookie arrived a bit before both of our drinks, which was a bit odd considering we had waited probably 15 minutes without drinks. As far as the cocktails, we ordered the Cynar Old Fashioned and the Buffalo Heard. The old fashioned was good, though I didn't notice the flavor of the Cynar at all. It was very dry, which I like, but may not be for you if you like a sweeter old fashioned. The Buffalo Heard was light and refreshing, with a nice bit of the bourbon shining through. Overall, the cocktails were quite good. It's a unique spot, and has a lot of potential. It appears they are still ironing out a few kitchen/bar/service kinks, but I think these are all small things. Look forward to visiting again soon.

We lucked out with a table on the cozy patio sitting on Main Street, where the town buzzes with life. The interior is beautiful and refined, but the outdoor setting, with the fresh mountain air and the hum of the town, created the perfect backdrop for a special evening. Service was impeccable. Gracious, attentive, and perfectly timed throughout the night. We began with a chilled French Chenin Blanc that paired beautifully with our appetizers. The escargot, bathed in a garlic cream and Gruyère sauce, was rich and mouth meltingly tasty. The braised and seared octopus was incredibly tender, deeply flavorful, and quite honestly, one of the best we've had anywhere. For mains, we shared the heirloom tomato burger, which was juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. Alongside that, we split the mushroom burrata orecchiette, pillowy pasta coated in a creamy lemon pistachio pesto with locally sourced mushrooms. It was rich, bright, and beautifully composed. When dessert rolled around, we switched things up with cocktails. I had the old fashioned with a pistachio twist, complex and not overly sweet. My wife enjoyed a smooth and flavorful espresso martini. Both paired wonderfully with the finale: a creamy, light tiramisu and a house-made French éclair with fresh peaches. Each bite was the perfect ending to an already stunning meal. From start to finish, Café Violette delivered. The food, the service, the atmosphere, and the view all came together in the best possible way. This is French fine dining with soul, nestled in one of North Carolina's most charming towns. An absolute must-visit in Blowing Rock.
