I'm about to complete my second lease term with Fraternity Row, and I regret signing both. Do not…read morelive here unless you enjoy living in filth. There are cockroaches, flies, and silverfish everywhere. The students living there throw trash in the hallways and refuse to use the dumpster. They are loud almost every night. They throw glass and thrash into the courtyard during parties. I've seen the inside of some other apartments with black floors from dirt and skateboards and the walls have been tagged up with spray paint. This place is expensive. Close to $900 for a single room plus electricity. They provide water, cable, and internet. Maintenance does what they can to keep up with the neglectful fraternity guys. The elevators are constantly breaking down and if you're unfortunate like me to have moved in during a weekend the elevators were down, you use the stairs OUTSIDE the complex. Also, this building is NOT handicap accessible if the elevators are down. Hallways always smell of weed, booze, trash, body odor or the typical cocktail of all 4. Tandem parking; always a negative. If you happen to have two cars, you pay an additional $60 each month for an extra parking space that isn't adjacent to your first spot. Another note about the garage parking: I'm a car guy, I take very good care of my car. Some of the overhead sewage pipes in the garage burst one weekend and my car was directly under the spill. Although management gave me $50 to get a basic detail, the waste had sat there for 4 days before it was cleaned and it wasn't cleaned thoroughly. There is still residue on the floor. After hours maintenance is extremely rude. One night, a few months ago, someone pulled the fire alarm and the entire building was subject to flooding from the sprinklers. I called the after hours service to notify them and the person I spoke with was the same miserable, old woman who hates her life. No compassion. The floors and walls were completely destroyed by the sprinklers and took almost a month to be repaired. I could go on and on about the bad experiences I've had here only to make the point: DO NOT LIVE HERE.

This is a nostalgia review. I stayed here for two years (07-09) and had a great time. I couldn't…read morehelp but chuckle at the previous two reviews. Some notable quotes: "Whats worse is washing machines in the laundry room. They really suck. I spent $3 dollars on 3 loads of laundry.....it didn't clean it at all. There were stains on my sweaters. Gross!!" - Yeah, maybe the stains came from YOU, pal. Gross!! "The meal plan was nice to have, but everything is overpriced. They give you 1100 dollars in credit but everything is marked up almost double." - You are the only person who has ever struggled with the meal plan in the history of SDSU's meal plans. Congratulations. It's an old building and keep in mind that these are college dorms so you shouldn't be expecting the Ritz Carlton or even the frickin' Circus Circus. That being said, the rooms are a comfortable size for two people and one bathroom for two suites is such a luxury compared to other dorms that utilize community restrooms. Security is taken very seriously and they even have a cleaning service that comes around every two weeks or so. Depending on where you are, your room may or may not have a funky smell emitting from it. Ours kinda smelled like Fat Bastard pooping out rotten eggs. Our AC/heater also never worked properly, so I'm not sure if that contributed to the odd smell. Maybe there was a mummified rat corpse stuck up there all school year or something. They've since repainted the building, so I highly doubt the desk lamp is still sitting on the fifth floor ledge. Wait, what? I lived here prior to the UT Grill's renovation. The carne asada fries were guaranteed to muck up your system and the tuna fish looked like regurgitated matzo balls. One time the girl working the register wanted to take her break, which of course she's allowed to do. The problem was there was no one to cover the line for her. So we stood there like jackasses at an unmanned register, waiting to pay for our food while she sat and did nothing. Look, UT isn't glamorous but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. And even though the UT Grill was kind of disgusting back in the day, it had a certain understated charm to it. I had a lot of fun and hopefully you do too.

I hate the vending machines in this buildings because they eat your money and the RAs/CAs don't do…read moreanything about it. They say they're sorry and tell you that you can get your money from Aztec shops....you'd think they would tell the Building manager "hey we need new vending machines" but no. Internet sucks in this building for some reason. There are days where I don't get any internet or it takes about 2 hours for my laptop to finally connect to the WiFi. Apparently the school tried to expand the bandwidth....but I don't see any improvement. Whats worse is washing machines in the laundry room. They really suck. I spent $3 dollars on 3 loads of laundry.....it didn't clean it at all. There were stains on my sweaters. Gross!! I didn't want to pay an extra dollar on laundry so I decided to go home for the weekend to get the job done. Heating is a joke. I tried to turn on the heater in our room...instead our room got colder. Also I agree with the first comment about the Market...it is overpriced. Pros: Nice room and bed. RAs that take security very seriously. A pool. Some parties that they throw once a month. Also it survived the blackout (no electricity problems at all :)

The biggest problem with the Granada is the management staff, they simply cannot be relied on. My…read morefrustration started with broken items in the room that were supposed to be fixed upon move in, and after several phone calls to the office without the issues being dealt with, I only found success in actually taking the broken items down there myself. I was extremely upset with spending over 1000 dollars a month for my room, without good service to match. I decided to get out of my lease one semester early for exactly that reason. My experience was during their first semester, but I still have friends in the complex with similar frustrations. Save yourself some money and prevent headaches, live elsewhere.

So the first review is from the management staff, just saying…read more.. The Granada is in a super convenient location and really beautiful and nice; however, I would never say that it is truly worth the $1000-1200 they charge for a smallllllllllllll room and included utilities + $25 (will be $50 next year) for pain in the ass tandem parking (you're not guaranteed to share with someone you live with, in fact many don't) + a $10-40 "premium" for a "mountain" view aka a view of trash on a roof of the neighboring apartment..and NO balcony (Sorry Granada, but this is pretty hard to compete with considering nearly all neighboring apartment buildings have these) However, I don't think any of this will be changing anytime soon. In fact, rates are going up! This place definitely got off to a rough start and I considered many times withholding my rent in a escrow account until everything we were promised (parking, cable tv, enet issues, tanning beds, etc) was fulfilled. I didn't sign my lease to have these things provided 2 months into my lease, but upon my lease start date. And some things they pitched to us upon signing our lease were not provided - such as the "Bum a Bike" program and a market downstairs that was expected in the "fall" and still isn't there.. Oh, and if you live here, be careful about parking issues. They show NO mercy when towing your car even if they know who you are and that you live there and own the car and can call and warn you. And it's their fault when they tow it because they didn't assign parking for the first 2-3 weeks. 2 out of my 4 roommates have had their cars towed - one due to them not assigning parking prior to us moving in. One of them due to her having no choice but to park in an unassigned spot due to a lost key and was towed 30 minutes after parking there with NO warning. Also, there aren't enough parking spots for each resident so many are forced to park in the university parking lot across the street. (think: $275 for a semester night parking pass) I find it weird that they know our numbers when we are an hour late on rent, but somehow don't when they're going to tow someone's car... There's probably around 200 residents so it's easy to meet neighbors and other people in the building. It's loud on the weekends, but being a student, I definitely don't mind that! You really have to work hard though to make the living room and stuff "homey and cozy" as the wood floor and black furniture make it a little cold feeling. The study room has came in handy as well. However, they suck royally at keeping paper in the printer. Oh, and order checks before moving in. If you pay your rent online there's a $20 convenience fee!

I would have to say there are better places to live that is worth your money…read more The only reason I say this is because the apartments aren't worth what they are asking for. Here is a list of things that need a lot of work: 1. They are always shutting the water off in our building because the pipes are always bursting. It's really inconvenient when you have to go to the gym to take a shower, and that's IF you have a membership. If you don't you aren't taking a shower that day. 2. There are these disgusting fruit flys that are ALWAYS in the apartment, ESPECIALLY during the summer, and it doesn't matter how clean you keep your place... They still come. I used bleach... Everything... Nothing would get rid of them and the leasing office doesn't do anything about the infestation of fruit flys. 3. After they re-painted the apartment complex it felt like we were living in a dark red dungeon. This is because the white walls were replaced with this clay red color and that is where the light reflects off the wall and into our apartment. So after that the color would give me a headache and then I started to really dislike being at home. The color that reflects into our apartments made it so depressing to be in. 4a. Our elevator is, and currently is, ALWAYS broken. It always takes the office a week or even longer to get someone to fix it. This is even worse when you have suit cases and have to go up 4 flights of stairs... Not fun. It also made moving out of the apartment really difficult. 4b. ALSO it's even more annoying that the building that has the leasing office has a better and more updated elevator that works all the time. 5. The security doesn't do much about parties that go on during the weekdays, and on weekends parties go on till ridiculous hours of the night. It was really annoying when I had to go to work every morning at 8AM. 6. Another REALLY annoying thing is the laundry. If you want to re-fill your money laundry card you have to make sure that you do it when the leasing office is open. If you forget you'll have to wait the next day. Why is this? Well it's because they only have ONE, yes ONE, money card re-fill station. Suggestion: get one in each building complex. 7. Also since they changed there internet package with COX the internet is sooooooooo SLOOOOOOOW. Good luck getting any internet during the school year. 8. The gates to get into the complex are either broken so you can't get in or don't close all the way, so people who don't belong in the apartment complex can get in. Not very secure or safe for parents who think there children have security. There is a lot more but I don't have time to sit here all day and list every single thing, but these are the main concerns. But at least you get a feel for the things you might be stepping into when you sign the lease with Aztec Corner.
