We got our food for delivery and they said 15-20 minutes and it came in just about that time. The girl on the phone was very patient and nice. We order the $29.99 special which was a large 2 topping pizza w/8 piece wings. We asked the girl to give us the hottest sauce they had for the wings, and they did. We are new to Visalia and looking for a good pizza place close to our new home, we tried several around town, and nothing was good UNTIL we found 5 STAR PIZZA, over on Noble and Chinowth St's, And now it's our go-to pizza place :) I like that it's not a chain store pumping out cheap garbage pizza, they make a nice quality pizza with good toppings, they have an extensive menu with all kinds of specialty pizza's to choose from, or just get the basics like we do. One of my guiding principles when it comes to dining throughout the years has been that hole-in-the-wall places have some of the BEST food, often beating out any of the local big name chain locations. This has driven me to trying out many smaller places and has once again led me to a hidden gem in Visalia's culinary scene. 5-Star Pizza lived up to it's name with a solid hit on our first try. The one cautionary note I would give to begin would be to call ahead to check if they are open or not, but that is understandable with the difficulties that have become part of daily life. Similarly they were not able to offer their full menu due to supply shortages, but that is no problem since what they did have was so exceptional. One thing I would highly recommend, if you are a fan of pickles, would be the hidden menu item the "Pickle Pizza." Large slices of dill pickle and mozzarella cheese on a creamy garlic sauce. We learned about it originally from a previous Yelp reviewer, and asked the restaurant about it. We are looking forward to trying it again, thinking of adding their buffalo chicken to it next time as a nice heat counterpoint to the vinegar of the pickle. The other pizza that we tried was their signature "Five Star Combo Speciality Pizza". It comes with pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, jalapeño, pineapple, meatballs, sausage, olives, and green pepper. We usually would have removed the jalapeño and green peppers automatically but wanted to try it as the restaurant planned it the first time. Oh how glad we are that we did! The jalapeño gave a nice spice against the sweetness of the pineapple. The green pepper had a snappy counterpoint that worked well lifting up the heaviness of the various meats. Everything taken together as a single bite made for one of the best pizzas I have had, and this is coming from sampling pizzas across multiple states and two continents. We are already looking forward to our next visit, both to get these two favorites again and to try all-new ones. read more

Wowza! We ordered the Indian veggie pizza with the Marsala sauce and holy cow it's amazing! I absolutely love traditional food with a twist and this hit the spot. I would even go as far as to say this is my favorite pizza I've ever had. My only disappointment is that I came in from San Diego and I don't live here so I won't be able to get this for awhile now. Not only was the food delicious but the woman who delivered our food was such a sweet heart. Just by hearing that our address was the hotel we were in, she was thoughtful enough to bring us plates and all the fixins which included 2 things of ranch!! I have been looking for a mom and pop shop that is good and not so expensive. When I came across this place I had called and asked if they had any family specials. They offered me the 2 large two topping pizza with wings for 45.99 still thinking that was a little high I tried it out. When I went to go pay for it, the total was over $51. The math didn't add up the tax should have been like $3 and some change. They didn't give me a receipt which they should always give you one so I asked for one. And of course the price they had given me over the phone was different than what they rung me up for and then taxed that. Just FYI the family special isn't 45.99 it's 47.83 then it's taxed from there. I'm not here complaining about the more dollars difference. What bugs me is the false pricing. They not only have the ad as 45.99 inside the store but if you ask them the price they will say it's 45.99 which is not true. The cashier knew from my face when I saw the amount and the receipt. She even tried to say she did me a solid by NOT ringing me up all separately and GAVE me the family bundle. Lol I asked for that family bundle thank you very much. It was the dishonesty for me that I honestly can't say I'd come back. The pizza was a 50/50 vote for my family anyways. The large isn't that big and the cheese tasted like cardboard. All you have to do is update your price on your menu and what you tell your customers the price is. Fresh ingredients, thin crispy crust and the perfect amount of ginger (yes, it actually works on a pizza !). They have interesting options too, like a chicken-masala pizza. Next time, I might try the FISH pizza. Very friendly service and a reasonable half hour to make. Although I live in Visalia, I highly recommend this place for anybody visiting Sequoia National Park, since they're located right off the 198 fwy between Noble ave. and Chinowth, it's the perfect pit-stop on the way there.
