Yesterday was the last time I will be visiting this place for Beers or food I came in yesterday with a friend, and this is the last time I will ever be disrespected in front of my friends. We entered the premises about 3:45 PM August 22 Saturday 2026. Bartender communicated with us. He is as coming back never came back. This bartender always has has an attitude when he speaks and his body language is loud you can tell he if fake with his fake smile. The last time I brought my best friend of 30 years in to taste the beers and try something new. The bartender got very upset that he was tasting beers rolled his eyes a few times and even said are you gonna buy something already? This time he didn't even wait on us didn't give us any service. The bar was completely empty and he was hanging out in the kitchen doing nothing That's just horrible service disrespectful towards your customers which pay your bills. I hope other people realize who you are and stop going to this bar until you are fired. I really like this place. I'm very unimpressed with this place. I booked a party event for Kaweah Healths Emergency Room Holiday party. We rented the whole place and we were informed it would be a 3 hour event, plus 1 hour to set up and 30 minutes to clean up after. So 4.5 hours in total. Before I get into what happened that night, just booking the event and getting a hold of anyone seems impossible. But that finally got done. The day of the event we arrived at 7pm to set up for the event at 8pm. People start to arrive around 8pm with food coming out around 8:15pm. All fine and dandy until 9:15pm when I am informed that food would be a last call. Considering we have 1 hour and 45 minutes left I was confused but assumed that would mean they would refill the pretty bare food station. That was not the case. So people who came at 9:30pm got no food. And last call for drinks was at 9:45, with an hour and 15 minutes left of our 3 hour time slot I am baffled. They we are basically kicked out at 10pm. I stayed to clean and we were done at 10:30. 30 minutes before the party was over and 1 hour before the clean up time should have ended. I've tried calling and texted the owner Tim with no response as well as emailing the email on the website and again no response. I would never dine here again. This is so unprofessional and honestly disrespectful. We spent just over $4,000 after party fee, 18% forced gratuity (for less than mediocre service) and tax for probably 10 pizzas and some appetizers for a crowd of at least 100+. I'd love to see an itemized list of what we received that night because it would be laughable. Avoid this place it's not worth it for the price, the location, the service and certainly not worth it to support an owner who doesn't respond. read more

How is this my first time here being a native Visalian. First off I love how this place looks showcasing an old salvaged vintage 'Visalia' & 'Ice' sign. This place is open, casual, and inviting with honestly some great (the bomb) homemade artesian pizza. Love all the vintage posters showcasing all of California's state parks. The Food: I tried something different and ordered their Vegan options. I got the Garlic Knots w/ marinara sauce for dipping & the Primavera Pizza w/ Gluten-Free crust. Keep in mind that crust only comes with medium sized pizzas. The Garlic knots are fresh baked dough with garlic-infused butter. They were tasty & I tried not to eat too much to save room for the pizza. My pizza was fantastic. Full of fresh vegetables such as artichoke hearts, Roma tomatoes, black olives, green bell peppers, mushrooms all on a pesto sauce. That pesto sauce was killer. I also had a Lemonade to drink. Service: excellent! I'd like to thank my server Erin for being so quick with the Lemonade replacement. Apparently when I got up to wash my hands the overzealous staff swiped my lemonade thinking I had left. Trust me this is not the first time this has happened to me when dining solo, but the thing is I didn't notice as I was pulling back my seat. It's good. Venue is cool, staff are fine. It's got an unusually trendy aesthetic for Visalia and considering it's well outside of downtown center. Only complaint, one time they gave me incorrect info on sauce prices. One type of sauce they told me was extra but it turned out they charged me for each and every sauce even though one was supposed to be free. They probably just misspoke but in terms of value, I don't think it's viable to pay $3 for a small portion of something you can get at the grocery store for $5-$6 in the full size. When did sauce become 10-15% of the price of a pizza? That's the kind of thing that makes people feel nickle and dimed, not want to tip, definitely not want to order extra sauces. It'd be better marketing to increase your pizza price by $3 and say it comes with one sauce included, $1 extra per sauce after that max 3 or something, Idk but owner should get it right. The planning mill used to be such a great place for lunch and weekend brunch with drinks. The food quality definitely changed and that's really the only reason I used to dine here regardless of mediocre service. The service has NEVER been good from eating at a table and having mediocre service to having a drink and bite at the bar which ALWAYS has employees with the worst attitude. This past Sunday, was the breaking point for me and will be the cause of not going back anymore. We self seated at the bar area and there was a kind of heavy set Caucasian guy with the absolute worst manners for the food and bar industry. Either he was miserable or just a shitty person but I still tried to be courteous and it felt awkward even talking to him as it felt like we were bothering him when ordering. He spoke minimally and when he did, he responded very short and bothered. Yet to others he spoke just fine and friendly. Not sure what was going on there but between that experience and the pizza tasting doughy and undercooked, I will not be going back to this place anymore. First time there today for lunch. We had half the "Hula Girl" and half the "Kitchen Sink" pizza. Absolutely delicious with all ingredients extremely fresh, especially the pineapple. My daughter decided at the last minute that she wanted to celebrate her birthday with a pizza dinner. I arrived on Friday at 5:00 and was greeted by Emma, the hostess. I explained to her that the others in my party would be along shortly, and she still agreed to seat me at a table (I love that). I went with #5 (don't remember the name, but it was smooth and crisp). Once I got to my table, our server Naveah came along; she was friendly and attentive. When the rest of our party arrived, we ordered. Now, the pizza! OMG!!! Here is what was ordered and my personal opinion . The Yetti veggie had just the right combination of flavors. The primavera was for the meat lovers and didn't skimp. The pepperoni was delicious. The cheese pizza had a great cheese pull. Now for appetizers, why not? The fried cauliflower bites were so good that I'll definitely think of them again. Who doesn't like wings with their pizza? So, we ordered the basic buffalo wings (also delicious). Before we realized it, Naveah was delivering our food. Everyone raved about the quality and flavors. Price was slightly higher but I didn't mind paying for the quality and experience received. The food was absolutely amazing! No complaints about the food whatsoever! BUT the service... is... weird, unfriendly and confusing. When we walked in I smiled at the hostess and was greeted with RBF lol not really a big deal, I understand not everyone is friendly. We were quickly seated with menus. Our server came over to take our drink and food order. We were able to do a half and half pizza which I appreciated. Our food arrived in a timely manner and everything, down to the marinara sauce was delicious. While we watched other customers be given drink refills, even though the soda machine is out where the tables are, so we were confused on if we were to get our own refills or our server would do that for us. I could have asked what the protocol was but felt really stupid doing so when our server was the only one not getting drink refills for her tables. Our server may not have refilled our soda but we watched her refill her soda from the machine and head to the back haha When we were ready to leave we were again very confused on what the protocol was because it took a very long time for our server to come to our table with our bill, I wasn't sure if I needed to go to the register was and pay there or if our server would bring the POS to our table like other servers were doing to their tables. We were unsure if we needed to get our own box or if our waitress would bring what we needed. We also didn't see to-go containers for our leftover salad, so I asked the waitress for a container for that and asked if we just grab a pizza box or if she gets it for us. She said she could get it for us and seemed fine to do so, but again I felt dumb because I watched her walk over and grab the pizza box and a to-go container for the salad that was right next to it. I feel like there should maybe be more communication like "go ahead and help yourself to soda or I'd be happy to refill your drinks for you" and "I can get you a to-go box if any are needed", you know something along those lines. Even a sign above the soda machine and to-go containers would work so staff doesn't have to tell each customer. We were kindly acknowledged by one of the other servers as we were walking out which was nice. Pretty cool spot located in downtown Visalia area. Walk in and seat basically wherever you like. Good for small groups or big tables. Order at the bar or wait until a server comes over ; put in your order and wala.... They bring out ur food when it's done. Plentiful mozzarella sticks... nice and crispy and hot . Love that it's plenty to share. Pizza selections are great .... No skimpy toppings here... just a whole lot of topping love. We love The Planning Mill! We must admit we have not eaten here since before COVID, and used to patronize their old location very often. What a crime this was! Wow this place is just as delicious if not more than we remember. The food is a classic pizzeria but with their own spin on classics and a few catchy titles to needed classics! This is a must enjoy place if you are craving quality pizza, excellent local beer options, friendly staff, and enjoy one of the many historic buildings in downtown Visalia! We love how they remade this historic business into the 21st century but being aware of their the rich industrial history of the area! We highly recommend trying their Detroit style pizza! Wow! The pizza is delicious. My one star comes because you basically have to eat inside or sit and wait. I've been trying to order online and it says "Currently not Accepting Orders". So I called to place an order for pick up and it's a very odd AI answering service that just texts you the link to order.... Which is a link to the website that is currently not accepting orders. I had my baby shower here. At first the communication was terrible, there was a mishap with another booking that interceded with mine. We booked the room for 1pm and the 6pm party somehow decorated the room around noon so then we had to take down their decorations which came into our reservation time so we lost some time because of that. That was frustrating. Reading what you can have via decorations i followed so i was surprised when the other party had decorations on the wall , it didn't seem like they cared and that would have def helped the decorations we could have brought but didn't. Other than that, the deal they offer is pretty reasonable in regard to reserving a room for a party and what comes with it. The food is really good especially the Caesar's salad. All in all i have referred this place to my friends and I would come back to try other things on the menu and def would recommend this place. read more

This was my second time here. First time was great, server was great and food was delicious. This time my spouse was with me to try it out. First off we came on a Sunday afternoon. This is regarding the service which is why we are giving it 3 stars. The dining area didn't have any open tables (except 1) at the time but the lady told us we could sit at the bar and just tell the bartender our order. Which we did. We had ordered soda so the bartender let us know we would have to go to the other side by the soda machine and ask for cups as she only had bar mugs/glass. My husband went to do so and the girl he had asked for cups for was so standoff-ish and was questioning him as to why he was asking for cups. He told her that the bartender had sent him so that he could get our sodas, she hesitated and asked if it was paid for.. duh... We noticed 1 booth at the entrance empty and asked if we could sit there instead which the girl sitting guest said that was fine, anyways since we changed seating the staff failed to commentate with each other that we had gotten a dining seat which was also a bit frustrating, mind you all the staffed looked young and the girls that brought us our food looked so annoyed.. If it was an issue that we switched to dining they should have let it be know because the vibes we got when they were serving us was like they were annoyed and irritated and not friendly at all not one staff member smiled and it was a very different experience from the 1st time I went and felt very unwelcome which is sad because it seemed so family friendly but not sure if we would be comfortable coming with our kids based on this recent experience. Now as far as the food - very good. Got the Thai chicken wings and of course those were delicious, sauce is so good . We also got the kitchen sink pizza and funky chicken. Very flavorful! I love coming here, I think the pizza is so good until yesterday 5/15/26 ordered around 12. I ordered a large pizza and personal pizza. No sauce on my pizza and light cheese. Workers in the back didn't seem busy. For expensive pizza you would think there would be some sauce and cheese. Felt like I was eating only bread. Customer Service sucked. They had a standard beer menu along with monthly specials. As a sour aficionado, I was content with their selection and taste. =ORDERED= *Caesar Salad: came in two sizes and we got the large. I was disappointed in the portion given it was $15.49. Between 3 people, we barely had a few pieces of romaine each. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh but I wished the salad was tossed prior. The dressing came in 2 sample cups and could have been more generous. *Thai Traditional Wings: the glaze was a perfect balance between sweet and spicy. The wings were slightly crispy and the meat was juicy. Although there were peanuts on top, the sauce wasn't nutty and it resembled a milder mango habanero. Would come back just for the wings. *Big Lewbowski: a Detroit style pie that came with either 4 or 8 slices. Our party only managed to take down 1 square each so the small was perfect. The red sauce was flavorful and the pepperoni and salami were salty and crispy. I couldn't taste the sausage or bacon as much and the basil and ricotta were on the mild side. The crust was the best part as it was crunchy yet pillowy in the center. The Planing Mill offers a mean pie and awesome wings. Updated review (3rd time): This place is frustrating. It doesn't seem family friendly anymore. The outside fake grass area is completely closed off, and vibes are off. Last time we went, there were signs saying to "watch your kids." Don't get me wrong... I understand the reasoning behind it, but it still makes it feel like kids aren't welcome...or that they're a problem. The main reason this review is lower, is because we often have plans of going to Planing for dinner or ordering it for pick-up and then we show up and the place says it'll close early due to cleaning, or due to a large party even though the hours show that it should be open. Last weekend we planned on ordering it for takeout for our kids last basketball games; went to grubhub, doordash, toast app, and even called and no one answered. All platforms said the location was closed at the time we were trying to order 11:30-12:30, even though the hours say they open at 11. I messaged them on Instagram and they responded pretty soon after and said they were open (???). Pizza is good, but something needs to happen with their cleaning schedule, or they need to change their open times to different times. It is frustrating making plans to go to a delicious pizza place and worrying about it even being open when they say they will be. read more

Pizza & Beer is a brilliant combination we have all enjoyed for years. Planning Mill Pizza is truly one of the best in town. We chose this venue to host a family celebration. They have two party rooms to pick from, one larger than the other. I was disappointed with the responsiveness of the representative in charge of securing the room. It did cause unwanted stress when trying to ensure everything was in order and ready to go. The day of the event arrived, there was no one to greet us or show us to the party room. This was not a good sign, we had to hunt down help before we were finally shown our room. Unfortunately, the room was not set up and we were left to set up all of the chairs as they were just stacked in the corner. There was limited time before guests were scheduled to arrive. We had to hustle to make sure everything was set up. This could have been avoided if they had set up the room before we arrived. All in all, the food was great and made up for the lack of hospitality. I would have given it an additional star but my overall experience lacked. Especially when we paid a pretty big penny to have our event hosted at this venue. read more

They also have a bar so if your looking for pizza and beer- don't miss this place! They offer weekly specials- for example, Tues $2 tacos. But I got here during the last hour and they just ran out. It's a busy restaurant so there might be a wait, service is a little slower- but know it's worth getting fresh made to order food!
