Initial contact was great. I reached out through an online form and got a response almost immediately. Scheduling was simple as well. The issue arose when my appointment was canceled because another customer with my same name called to cancel her appointment with them, and instead of calling/emailing me to verify they assumed it was me. Such an awesome company. Available almost anytime of the day to take calls - return your call right away, and even deal via text message. The guys there are super friendly and pick up your stuff on time, and on weekends if need be - plus they recycle and are environmentally friendly. An aspect that I really liked was how eco-conscious they were, and then a follow-up e-mail was sent to me letting me know how much I recycled with my junk. I agree with the other review that the service over the phone was good, and they were able to book me in 2 days after my initial call, which was awesome!! I recently used 604-Trash-It to dispose of my mattress, which has an infestation of bed bugs and a couch that is questionable. I really appreciate that they offer this service. My complaints are that the estimate over the phone was $250 (we explained it was a 3 person couch, one king sized mattress and 2 single box springs), and then they tried to bill me $450 in person. It took 30mins for them to load the furniture, and although I understand all extra costs and am not specifically against any of them, I just wish I had been given a more accurate quote. They were able to adjust the price, which I DO appreciate. Still ended up being $110 more than their original estimate. After talking to the technician at the Pest Control Service I am using, I understand that bedbug eggs are spread by brushing against other things. Although they did bag the mattress and take it out of the bedroom, the top of the bag was left open and the mattress brushed on the top of the door frames, and against the dresser, ceiling, and other areas in the room. We watched the bedbug skin sheddings poof all over the room as they did their work. My suggestion for other customers in the same position is to buy Mattress Bags at your local storage or moving company (they charge you $7 per bag at 604-Trash-It) and bag your mattress at your own discretion. My boyfriend recommends you bag, tape, and carry the whole thing out yourself and just pay for these guys to pick it up. Again, they WERE willing to deal with bed bugs, and they were here quickly, so I have to give them credit for that. Lots of possible spreading of eggs on the way out and an extra $100/hr just for dealing with the bugs is a bit of a downer, though. read more

When my brother died while living in Vancouver, I needed to find a company to clear out his apartment as I live in California and was unable to get there to do it. I contacted Dave Abercrombie regarding the situation and received a very fast response. He arranged to go to the apartment and gave me a very reasonable quote. They did everything he said they would do: they cleared the apartment, recycled everything they could, donated things that could be donated, stayed well within the quote and he personally boxed up and mailed some items to me that I had requested. I was kept in the loop every step of the way and in spite of numerous emails back and forth, Dave continued to be super responsive. To be honest, I was a little anxious and wasn't sure what to expect, but I needn't have worried -- the two men who showed up were ridiculously nice, accommodating, and very professional. They were polite and efficient, and I was charged a fair price. There was even a little subterfuge involved in getting the furniture away from my hoarding mother, and they were so respectful and handled the odd situation remarkably well.
