We had an absolutely fabulous wedding here. From the first tour we took, the staff was prompt,…read morekind, and accommodating. My mother has terminal cancer and we ended up having to get married a year earlier than we planned so we were stressing about finding a venue that could put together our dream wedding in 5 months. We almost settled and gave up on that dream wedding until we found The Cotton Gin. I still have no idea how they pulled it off so seamlessly. The Cotton Gin went above and beyond to make the whole day smooth for both my mom and us. When they say "all inclusive" they mean it. I did not lift a single finger for coordinating vendors, stressing about timing, or anything that usually causes stress for brides. I was calm the whole day and if any anxiety arose at any point in the process, the staff reassured me and was proactive in accommodating anything I needed. The owner Amanda is a creative genius and you can tell she loves what she does. Her goal is to give all brides a dream wedding that fits their budget. You can tell that she put careful thought into choosing staff that has the same passion and vision. Truly I feel like I made bonds with the staff that will last a life time. All of my guests gave extremely positive feedback about their experience! Also, the food was literally a 5 star dining experience. I am going to be craving their salmon and stuffed mushrooms for the rest of my life. I wish I could get married to my husband again and again so I can give The Cotton Gin more of my business!!

Staff was very calm and professional and kept the appetizers coming. Bar offered a lot of interesting drinks. The venue itself is gorgeous with very little of your own decorating needed. They literally took care of everything it seemed. Lots of places to take pictures. We had beef mashed potatoes and asparagus, which came out temperature hot and well seasoned. The shrimp and grits for the appetizer was delicious and the presentation of the cheeses was wonderful. A beautiful, intimate and cozy place with a couple levels, including a dance floor. I would highly recommend this place if you're interested in having a wedding reception.

My wife and I recently had business in Dallas, GA, and we decided to stay at Venue 1905 (formally…read morethe Ragsdale Inn). This is a lovely 1905 farm house, exquisitely decorated. We stayed in The Suite, and I cannot address the other rooms. The house was quiet at night. The bed was comfortable. Our hostess made sure that the air condition was set at a comfortable temperature, and she graciously provided us with her own fan. Although breakfast was not prepared for us, we did have total access to the kitchen, including a stocked pantry, stocked refrigerator, stove and oven. We chose to eat breakfast at a nearby fast food establishment both mornings. The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, soap, and body lotion. A built-in hair dryer was provided. Our suite was provided with a sitting room, where I set up shop to work on my computer. WiFi signal was strong, and internet speed was good. The inn is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Dallas. The technical college is about a five-minute drive from the inn. Perhaps the inn's greatest asset is its hostess. She was very accommodating, and she did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable. The bathroom was equipped with a clawfoot tub / shower. The edge of the tub is high, which could make it difficult for for frail people to enter and exit. There is a grab bar for the toilet. There is no grab bar for the bath tub. The literature for the inn clearly says that pets are not allowed, but be aware that our hostess had an old large arthritic dog who resides at the inn and may bark quite loudly when he first greets you. He is a kind old soul, and I enjoyed his company. But if you you have a thing about dogs, this could be an issue.

Ten stars would not even scratch the surface. As you pull up to this immaculate and well kept inn a…read morebeautiful wrap around porch greets you with a well manicured lawn. Once you step inside you can tell this is a labor of love for the owners. The rooms are spotless just like the entire inn. Attention to detail shines at every step. The snacks and fresh baked goodies that they leave out is just a hint of how much they value their guest. The home made breakfast every morning is unbeatable and the entire staff is very helpful. The room I stayed in was supplied with everything you would ever need and was the clean. Did I mention how clean and fresh everything is? Clean would be an understatement. As far as value goes this place would be worth more than an hours worth to get to a destination. Small town charm with everything close by. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

"Unplugged Adventures helps build relationships between families, friends, and community through meaningful experiences at the farm; focusing on health, creativity, and deep nature connection. Our events and children's nature programs are intentionally designed to encourage you to slow down, unplug, and get outside. " This place hosts a nature school, kids camps, family hikes, an October pumpkin patch, Santa photos during December, and other special activities for kids. All the staff I've worked with have been wonderful, outdoors-loving folks who care about giving us a quality experience. THE PLAYGROUPS We've visited the playgroups that are designed for kids under 5. These are held in a delightful forest that's been set up with all just of suggestables for the kids: a painting space, dress-up clothes, dinosaur figurines, a mud kitchen (always a big hit), garden tools, climbing structures, a creek, and nature-focused storybooks and forest friend stuffed animals hidden around the area. Playgroups last 2 hours and are completely unstructured. The kids can choose what to do with their time and the adults usually chat about this or that. When visiting for playgroups, park at the top of the hill then walk down toward the sandbox and pavilion. Feel free to bring your picnic lunch for afterward! Simple bathrooms (with soap and a sink) are available.
