And I love how Six Sisters has expanded into consignment as well. There was a fun mix of more expensive, new items and some great condition, used clothes as well. They range from casual to formal -- I even saw a few bathing suits. Six Sixters had a full range of sizes. There were several great Derby dresses to choose from, plus Six Sisters is selling several fascinators to go with them. Add in the great accessories and shoes, and you can come away with a whole look! My SIL bought several items while we were there. I recently had a "nickel tour" from the shop owner, Karen, who explained that she bought the shop from its original owners in 2023. Speaking with Karen it is clearly apparent how much she loves the shop and how invested she is in its success and growth. She shared that the shop began in 1983 when they had a cart in the Mall of St Matthews during Christmas season and has grown to the amazing shop that it is today. Karen took me into the back of the retail area where I was blown away at the size of the space. Since taking over the shop, Karen has expanded the number of staff members to accommodate the added business-to business market and online ordering. The inventory has grown (hundreds of Kentucky-based resources) to include seasonal items while maintaining the core Kentucky items. The retail space is larger, brighter, more modern, and includes much more merchandise. Local delivery is available and the shop ships nationwide. There is merchandise for all budgets and needs. They also create beautiful KY-themed gift baskets and can assist with corporate gift-giving well. As in my previous review, there is UK and U of L merchandise, KY derby-themed merchandise, beautiful stoneware, t-shirts, candles, and of course all of the delicious Kentucky treats (e.g, bourbon balls, bourbon barrel cake). I saw a top advertised online. They would only allow the purchase to be made by phone or in-person. I ordered by phone. It was packaged for me when I arrived. I was encouraged to take it in the bag "to keep it flat." When I arrived home, I noticed a damaged area on the front of the top (sold as a "vintage t-shirt"). I returned it but was provided with an excuse about why it would be damaged. I was also only given the open of a store credit. With a purchase of almost $100, I would have liked a credit card refund. When questioned, I was told, "That's just how we have always done it." The store employee followed up by asking if I needed a particular product that they sell. No apology at all. In all honesty, I wouldn't have returned to this store without the credit. So there's that.
