How does a person miss an ENTIRE CLOSET and obvious debris in the garage? Peak Cleaning Services (owner Jessica, C-Springs) came to my new house (not yet moved in) for their "deep clean." I had made it clear ahead of time that I wanted the interiors of all closets, including in the basement, thoroughly cleaned (a staple job for a cleaning crew) plus the garage (another obvious job).
I did a swift walk-through and told Jessica she needed to redo or give a second pass to the window tracks, as they still had a lot of built-up grime/dirt. She did so.
But the real problem was her daft assistant. The assistant failed to empty junk out of a kitchen drawer from the previous owner. The garage had missed areas and I instructed the assistant to get them; she did.
All seemed well and I paid Jessica. Several days later I did what I should have done before they left: Check the interior of every basement closet. In one was junk left by the previous owner and a bunch of large shards of broken glass on the floor. Obviously, the assistant never went near this closet.
I also noticed that four wall corners of the garage were still heavily draped with cobwebs, and there was significant debris/dirt on the floor near the garage door leading into the house. How was this missed?
Now granted, I should've did a more thorough check-through, but the onus is on the cleaning company to get these very obvious, staple areas. Yes, I could've spotted them before they left, but even if I had, the big question remains: HOW could the assistant have missed such obvious areas? The garage and closets are KEY areas for ANY deep clean. The customer shouldn't have to take the crew by the hand to make sure such areas were serviced.
Even if this was the assistant's first assignment, HOW could she have missed such obvious key areas? And why didn't her boss Jessica make sure she got these key areas?
I texted my complaint, plus three videos of the areas, to Jessica. I never heard back. It would've been nice if she offered to mail me a small rebate check to cover the cost of someone else coming in to finish the job.
Again, I could've prevented this, but the weight should NOT be on a stressed, harried homeowner who's juggling a bunch of things to get ready to move into a new house. For the money I paid Peak Cleaning Services, she and her assistant should've carried ALL the weight and completed this relatively simple deep clean project.
