We stopped here to fill a rental car before returning it. We didn't get robbed, there were no vagrants hanging around, most of the pumps were working and ours printed a receipt, the price was OK (given current prices and the location). I considered deducting one star because one of the pumps we tried was in fact not working, but decided to leave 5 to counter the people savaging them over the quality of the car wash, as most gas station car washes are bad and everyone knows that. read more

Do NOT use the drive through car wash here. It usually does a decent job but during my last visit I heard loud banging noises all around the car as the spinners went over. I pulled over next to the 76 shop and found deep scrapes and scratches all around my car, with multiple cracks and gouges in the glass roof. The lady behind me had the same thing happen to her car, although she also had dents in multiple places. Upon discussing with the staff inside, they closed the wash and gave me the manager, Sunan's contact number. Thus far, he has read my texts including images of the damage, and has not replied (5 days since this occurred as of writing, with two follow ups). This is the 76 gas station at Edgewater blvd x Hegenberger in East Oakland. If you ever drove to the Oakland Airport from the I-880 freeway, you probably passed this gas station. This station features a C-store, a carwash, vacuum stations, and a large parking lot. It's also next door to Black Bear Diner. On a Thursday evening (730pm), I stopped for gas here. I noticed the station was unusually empty, only 2 cars. Usually this place is busy with steady business. Back before 2016, this place was so busy it was hard to get in the driveway. That's because there used to be a Walmart Super Store across the street. Also, back then gas was under $3.00/gal. But last night this station was empty. There was no washer soap in the bins, nor any squeegees. I didn't visit the food mart because homeless people and suspicious folks were loitering around. I didn't feel safe leaving my vehicle unattended. In this type of situation, you can either pump your gas and leave, or just leave and try the next station. I assure you, it will take a long time for the police to show up if something happens. The station itself was dirty in appearance. The Circle K branding is gone, it's now called "Rocket." The gas station is still 76. On June 30, credit price was $6.14/reg. Cash price was $5.99/Reg. My 76 gas card got me $6.11/reg. If this place was known for low gas prices before, I don't see any competitive prices today. Best advice- shop around read more

Probably the sh.ttiest gas station anyone can use. Go to the Chevron across the street, pay the extra $.20 per gallon and don't deal with the crappy service and crappy manager who can't do anything to resolve my problem. 76/Circle stoke my $20. I prepaid for a pump with $100 and wasn't sure if it was me or the cashier who was at fault but the receipt read a different pump of where my rental car was parked at. So of course, so other person pumps $20 worth of gas from my credit of $100. Fast forward to my interaction with Kevin the manager. He couldn't refund me $20. And long story short, he asked me to call and email the corporate office for my refund. $20 isn't a lot for me, look at my reviews, I blow $20 on food an hour! It's the principle of someone else pumping $20 worth of gas out of my credit!! And I was shorted $20 without a refund from Kevin. I was professional and polite and explained the incident to him. Pumps shut off after $75. If you buy a $9 car wash at the pump, it clicks off after $66. Pumps don't print receipts, forcing you to go inside to pick up the carwash code. If you go here, prepare to make multiple transactions to fill your tank, and never buy carwashes from the pump--buy them at the machine right in front of the actual carwash. More gas for the transaction, and no unnecessary waiting in line. Hopefully this information helps someone. I won't be using it because I'll never return to this location. read more

I was robbed here in broad daylight with my family. They threatened to kill my husband, chasing him but not catching him an he came back to the car and robbed me with my 2 y/o and 5 m/o in the car. They stole the diaper bag, with nothing of value in it. All these people and a security guard watched it happen, no one helped even when they were chasing my husband. I got out of the car and tried to spray them with gas bc I thought they were going to take my children and had killed my husband. I'd found out I was pregnant that morning. The police told me to file a report online. I later found out I you have to file robbery reports in person and you can only do burglary reports online. This is how Oakland lowers their violent crime stats, by not taking reports. read more

I roll by this 76 Station quite a bit to grab gas because it usually has the Cheapest price on Unleaded Fuel . Unleaded is $2.23 9/10 a gallon. This station has a little history . One of my Associates is an OPD Patrol Sergeant and was off duty, when he stopped at this same station to gas his Harley. Some idiot pulled a gun on him and asked for his wallet . Instead of producing his Wallet , He produced his Service Pistol and ended up Arresting the Robber LOL. This Station also has a Mini Mart . Its Handy for a late night snack or soda. read more

Good place to fill up if your in the area - was just there a few days ago. Went uneventful which is good. The guy working inside was quick and cheerful. Hey tourists! This one's for you. Are you returning a rental car and need to fill up on gas before you get back so they don't charge you an arm and a leg? This is your stop! It's but a few blocks from the airport rental car center, and unless you're coming from some weird direction, you can just come down Hegenberger and it's on the right side--easy on, easy off. It didn't seem too unreasonable, as prices go, and it's almost always going to be cheaper than the Chevron that's across the street. I'll take this every day over the Chevron. On the downside, it was jammed when I was there around lunchtime. I'm clearly not the only one who knows this is the place for rental car return gasoline, and so I saw a lot of shiny cars with bar codes in the window, and a lot of people pulling out trash and cleaning things up before return. That's why, I would assume, the garbage cans were packed and overflowing. I didn't go inside for anything, so you'll have to lean on the locals and what their input is to know about that scene. For me, it's about the pure convenience of getting gas, getting back on the road, turning onto Doolittle and cruising to a rental car return. read more

Found out a couple of weeks ago that they replaced their touchless car wash with a brushed car wash. WHYYY?!?!? I was pretty upset considering I paid $9 for the deluxe wash at the pump before I knew they had swapped it and it did a shitty job of "washing" my car. Here's how: - The brushed arms folded in my mirrors so I had to get out of the car to check for damage and put it back to its original position - The brushes left dust lines all over my rear bumper because it didn't go over it well - It only went over my car twice: I did not get the rain-x or clearcoat protection that I paid for - The undercarriage spray was no longer there I am not happy about this. read more

This is a relatively inexpensive gas station that's usually cheaper than others within a few blocks. It's in a shady part of town so you want to try to avoid going there at night..... or maybe at all? The pump was broken when we went, so we had to go inside and talk to the attendant. read more

I have used this gas station to fill my rental car before returning it to the airport for far too long. Most of the time time I come here, no matter which pump I use, most of the time I must go inside for the receipt (needed for company expense reports) because the receipt machine at the pumps are broken. I asked why they are always broken and was informed by the attendant that "the pumps are over 15 years old" and they "won't fix them". Not good service and not convenient. I have been coming to this gas station for years now I come at least 3 or maybe even four times a day to buy gas when it is obvious that I could go many other places to buy gas. Today @ around 1pm 04/02/2021 I came here to 449 Hegenberger Rd Oakland California 94621 76 gas station to purchase gas at the outside window because I was told by Jackie which is one of the employees there that if I did not where a mask I would have to go to the outside window to purchase gas, so that's what I have been doing do to the fact I can not wear a mask do to health issues. Well today on 04/02/2021 I came to the 76 gas station outside window to purchase some gas when I got to the outside window there was a huge black shade that was pulled all the way down to where I could not see the cashiers nor could I see inside of the store. I asked could they pull up the shade so that I could see who I am giving my money too. Well they had never responded to me verbally but kept pushing this silver thing at me I guess that was a signal for me to drop my money in so I kept telling them or who ever it was like no I need to see who I am giving my money to I don't know what's going on if anything could be happening in there or what because I can not see who it is I am giving my money to well they kept on never saying anything but just constantly pushing this silver thing at me for me to drop my money in. I even tried asking one of the workers that work there that was outside cleaning up at the time what was going on in there but he kept ignoring me as if he did not hear me when I know that he did hear me. After that weird situation I called them to ask what was going on in there to where they could not lift the black shade up for me to buy gas. This guy answer when I called but after I asked the question a woman had snatched the phone from him. I than asked the women why was the black shade down? Because I do not feel comfortable giving my money to a individual I can not see face, she responded and told me that if I want to pay for gas that I have to come in with a mask on like I said earlier do to health issues I can not wear a mask which is a reason why I go to the window. I spend lots of money with the 76 gas station franchises from Oakland across all of the Bay Area and this particular gas stations I am speaking about now is one of the main gas stations I come to and to be treated like this is unfair and very well discrimination and unprofessional. This place is decent but there's almost always a bum around asking to wipe your windshield for a few bucks. The prices here are competitive but just be ready to give the dude a couple bucks, which in the end will make your overall fuel expense just as expensive as somewhere closer to downtown. read more

This station does a few things that are anti consumer They charge a card surcharge on any card transaction 1) the rewards program is treated like a credit card, so they will debit your rewards using the credit card surcharge, it doesn't matter if you previously used cash in earning the reward 2) they will charge you the credit card surcharge even if you are using a debit card. Looks like you can use your credit card at the pump, but it was broken, so I walk past a homeless guy beggin for money and go pay inside. Service was cool, but not cool enough to boost the rating past 2 stars. While my car is filling up, I notice a few homeless people grab all the paper towels and the windshield wiper and were walking around cleaning windows and drying cars that came out of the car wash. I don't often loiter at convenience stores, be they 7-11s or AM/PMs, but my friend and I found ourselves waiting for a friend stuck at baggage claim at the Oakland Airport, and for lack of a better option, decided to stop off at this Circle K to kill some time. We were en route to a party out in the WC--it was a house party for a group of people who all went to the same high school in the Creek--so it only seemed fitting that I pick up some supplies that reminded me of my high school days; namely, Snapple (to mix with cheap vodka), and cigars (Who am I kidding? Swisher Sweets.). The service was what you'd expect--gruff--but the single-stall bathroom was far better than most gas station washrooms.
