Broadway Liquors is one of my favorite local spots in Oakland. I get excited to come in. Liquor stores are a dime a dozen, but these guys distinguish themselves well. They are open LATE (see hours). They aren't cheap, and they have really good alcohol. While most liquor stores have a general, cliche selection of boring beer (Bud, Coors, Miller, Corona)--these guys are heavy handed with local craft. Faction Brewery in Alameda (for example) makes a really good brew. My two favorites are The Penske File, and the Faction Pale Ale. Broadway has them BOTH. Faction is not impossible to find; it is rare. Off the top of my head, others include: (Faction, Almanac, Anchor, 21st, Drakes, and Fort Point. Also a lot from So Cal. (Stone, Beaver, Ballast Point). Im sure more. That's just beer! I haven't made my way to wine or spirits... But picture the best of everything local that bottles and they may have it. In addition to alcohol, they also sell bitters, as well as syrups. Also sells lots of tobacco and a lot of other nicotine products. But come on, that shit sucks and is horrible for you! read more

Holy crap I have never seen a larger selection of craft beers, and artisinal spirits in my life. Whatever you are looking for this place has it. It has things you were not even thinking of looking for. The plus side is that the workers are very friendly and informative of their products. I have a favorite Mezcal that I used to get at Nido (great neighborhood Mexican) called Machetazo Cupreata. With covid and businesses on hiatus I needed a beverage and Broadway Liquors helped! They had my favorite along with good hours, lots of other choices and nearby street parking (or just go to the Grocery Outlet lot across the street). I have a couple of adult beverages a week so I'm not there often, but they're now 100% my go-to spot for all my liquor needs! read more

Huge selection of liquor but the person working the register can't really tell you what they have if you ask. Be prepared to find what you are looking for by yourself, specially since there isn't always logic to how it's organized. Don't expect to find olives, pickles onions or any other condiments there despite the fact that they carry a lot of other random things. With a little love this place could be awesome. read more

Ya got your beer, your wine, your spirits, but moreover ya got your Chartreuse, your Aperol, your Fernet, a whole smattering of amaros- YOU GOT IT ALL!! They not only carry familiar brands like Jameson, Patron, and Grey Goose, but they also carry many varieties that you may have not tried yet, like Absinthe, Ouzo, or Mezcal. Their prices are fairly high on most bottles, so if you are coming here for commonplace items like Bacardi or Jose Cuervo; walk across the street to Grocery Outlet and pick them up for cheaper, but if you are in the market for something with a limited distillation or a collectible bottle to give as a gift, this place will take care of you. read more

Looks like a nice bottle shop, but no customer service for a faulty product. Bought a 6 pack of Golden Monkey, because it's one of my favorites, and not many places stock it. Paid 14 bucks . Get home, chill them, open the first bottle, and a fountain appears. most of the beer is gone and what's left is seriously skunky. Thinking this was just one bottle, I opened another. the same thing. So I go back and try and return or exchange the bottles I have left (not even wanting a refund for the skunky bottle they sold me. Person behind the counter says he can't authorize refund or even just let me exchange the bottles. He says I can come back that evening and speak with the manager if I have a problem. I don't think I should have to make a third trip to the store, just to get made whole on a 6 pack. I've probably spent a thousand dollars there this year, and referred them to my friends who wanted a not shady liquor store in Oakland, but no longer. This place wants to be a nice bottle shop, but they don't have the customer service to back it up. read more

This place is awesome. I've walked past many times, and always assumed that it was yet another hood liquor store. I walked in on a lark today, and was pleasantly surprised. The store is very clean. In the back are the craft beers, which seems to be a specialty of the store (it also looks like they have a good liquor selection, although I wasn't particularly looking). They definitely stock a lot more beers than the nearby Whole Foods. Based on this visit, I would venture to say that their selection is even better than Berkeley Bowl West, which was previously my high-standard for the area, although I'll have to make some more visits to do "research" to confirm this. I ended up picking up a 750ml bottle of Westmalle Tripel, for $15. That's not super cheap, but not outrageous either. I'd definitely recommend stopping by -- there was a ton of beers that looked really interesting. I'll make sure to update this post in the future after some more visits. read more

What a beer lovers gem! I grew up in Oakland all my life, and it wasn't until my last trip home that I found this place. They had a really great selection of hard to find craft beers, at very reasonable prices. They also had a great selection of local bay area craft beers. If you are a beer lover then this place is just waiting for you to discover it. This is my favorite liquor store in Oakland as far as I know. They have to pretty much every kind of booze you can imagine-- and a lot that you don't think to imagine. The men who work here are all extremely friendly and polite & know where everything is. If you continue making a request for an item they don't have they will eventually stock it, which is probably how they got their eclectic selection. This is my go to place for ginger beer. read more

When I first came to the Bay, a few years ago, I asked my friend to stop by the liquor store. With a sharp "are you serious?", and a raised eyebrow that could kill. Did I just commit a sin? All I knew was, it was Friday, and I was ready to chillax. But apparently, most of the liquor stores around here or her impressions of them, were places where 'hood' are 'sketchy' people went. Well in GA, we don't have the luxury of CVS, Walgreens, and every major grocery store, to selling liquor in them. Hell, we don't even sell liquor on Sunday! So what does that say? This place is perfectly situated on the corner of Broadway and 29th St. You can conveniently park in the 15 minute zone on the curb, or my personal favorite, the last row of the Grocery Outlet parking lot. The doors are always wide open, and they seem to stay open pretty late. Inside is a pretty good size, and always clean. They have a decent selection of wines, good beers, and plethora of liquors (face it, that's what your there for). The sign on the outside, stating they have discounted liquors. Trust me, they ain't lying. Here's a tip, if you buy enough liquor, beer, or whatever, make 'em a deal...."Out the dooh (door)". The 2-3 guys that are always in there, are hella cool and polite. Oh yeah, you can even pick up a few groceries too, but be prepared to pay! So I definitely agree with Sharee G., it's a real liquor store. No it's not as big as BevMo, they aren't sending out e-coupons, or have a wine selection like your in Napa Valley, it's just regular ol' liquor store... read more

This place has a great beer selection at a decent price. Their bottles of Rodenbach are about $10 which is less than Whole Foods or the Trappist. They also have a handful beers that I haven't seen before. Moe, one of the clerks, is super nice. Good beer selection, nice staff, good hours, and good prices. Can't go wrong. read more

An amazing liquor establishment with a bountiful selection of microbrews, main stream beer, and a fine selection of straight up liquor. Conveniently located next to Grocery Outlet. You go anywhere else within a mile or two radius, you'll be overpaying for practically everything. The magic number to look for around is based off a 12 pack of Heineken. If you're paying more than 13.99, you need to land your ass here. They have specials throughout the year as well. I once picked up a handle of Bombay Sapphire for just 25 bucks. You rarely see a premium drink for so cheap, unless you're at Costco. Very friendly staff, stocked with most cigarettes to complement your drink if that suits you. Oh and btw - rice balls? This place is not like any other liquor store I know of. It's like if GQ magazine was a liquor store. Seriously, all the sales clerks are handsome, suave, and gracious. They are also extremely sharp dressers. That being said, I have gone in here many many times; but on at least two occasions, I went in desperation trying to find something I couldn't find at any of the closer corner stores. (Once for cornbread mix, once for powdered sugar.) I was sure they wouldn't have it, either -- but they did! I will say that this store has a HUGE selection of bourbon, which is what I was looking for. That said, it's laughably over-priced. Especially the high-end stuff. Yes, if you are looking for Pappy, they have it here. But the bottle of 10-year-old Van Winkle that that the distillery sold them for $60 has been marked up to $400 by Broadway. That's okay, that is commerce, but this is also the Bay Area, and there are just much better prices (on all bourbons) at other liquor stores.
