8 West is a great Jewish patisserie that's only been open for a few weeks, but already has a steady stream of customers coming through the door. We each selected a Jerusalem bagel and a cup of Moroccan soup. The sesame seed-covered Jerusalem bagel is excellent, delightfully a bit sweeter than your typical bagel. It comes with a little cup of a sauce comprised of oil, spice and sesame seeds. You top your bagel with the sauce. Delish! The Moroccan soup, which contains celery, tomato, lentils, chick peas and chicken is very tasty. It was a little short on salt, but our very nice proprietress gave us salt to add to our soup, which made it perfect. 8 West also has challah bread, fruit tarts and frosted pastries as well as other baked goods. I also bought a bag of sesame rings that, in my opinion, go well with a glass of milk. These rings are more a cracker than a cookie. Our proprietress mentioned that she receives favorable feedback that her baked goods are not overly sweet. She also said that 8 West is a one-woman show and she is currently open Thursday thru Sunday. Seeing with my own eyes the popularity of 8 West, they can expand if they want.
