    Had a great workout!
    Nicole A.

This was my first boxing class and it will not be my last. I came here with my cousin because he had a free pass for a person. Inside, it's a big space but they utilize most of it with the punching ring, an area with large, hanging punching bags and another area with mats. It does not smell by the way. Note that I took the kid's class because I was with my 11 (10?) year old cousin. We started warm up with stretching, jump roping, practicing 1's and 2's then 3's and 4's. Then 5 push ups to end. It was a really fun class (it helped that the music was awesome) and the instructors were friendly and helpful. I was sweating buckets and yet, filled with vigor. I definitely want to come back here or get into boxing. This is amazing.

    The Agoura Boxing Gym
    Alisa M.

Agoura boxing is great. When I started here I did not know anything about boxing and starting was fairly intimidating but the instructors and other students have been really helpful in catching me up and teaching me the ropes. They also do sparring on Thursdays. They really accommodated me because I did not want to get hit (especially in the face) so I was able to throw punches without having to worry about being hit back. The classes are a great workout. I always leave the gym drenched in sweat and feeling amazing.

Great place with positive vibe for kids! The hard work happening there, inside and out, happens because of the wonderful instructors

Is it clean? Is it safe? These were the first two questions my BJJ buddy asked me about Morumbi…read morewhen I told him we were trying it out. He is a brown belt and has plenty of experience at various academies. Those were his critical pass/fail criteria questions. And the answer is emphatically YES to both of them. Our kids were first to join at about 5 and 7 yrs old. The professors and coaches make it very welcoming for new people. They ensure that new students are purposefully placed with other students. And the quality instruction from the professors and coaches is so valuable. Each class is usually started or ended by repeating core values and keys to success in life. Next my wife and I joined. Our dream is to have this be a family affair. I could never have dreamed how well my wife took to it. There is a large group (also close knit group) or women who attend. A couple years ago my wife never heard of BJJ, and now she can't stand to miss a day of jiu jitsu class or the kettlebell class. If you are worried about egos and people just smashing on you, then fear not. Professor Fabio protects the students and his academy from anyone just trying to hurt others. That being said, it is jiu Jitsu and it is designed to be used in real life. But the overall feel is a "family" environment and that is cultivated from the top down. It is a perfect place to learn and grow in BJJ. If you have any questions, be sure to talk to Coco who wears many hats at Morumbi. She is amazing and my kids absolutely love her. We love this academy and all the friendships we've already made. My wife and kids are exponentially growing not only in skill but in confidence, positivity and happiness.

However, that is not the case at all, in order to qualify for a full refund you have to go at least 2x a week for the entire month and have to give a 30 day notice in order to not be charged full price for the 2nd month. Here's the thing, how could you possibly give a 30 day notice before the second month renewal if 30 days prior to that would be the day you first started? How could you possibly know you aren't going to continue there if you are just starting?? They charged me full price for an entire month when my son didn't attend not once. When I pointed out it would have been impossible to give a total 30 days notice they only offered to credit the account for "when my son returns". What makes you think I would go back to an establishment that is robbing people?! Don't go here, the prices are wayyyy overpriced and there are better options available in the area with businesses that don't steal your hard earned money.

I encourage parents to please read the fine print, no matter how appealing the sales pitch. I signed my son up in early 2025. At first, the program seemed great. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu art form taught at Gracie Barra in Simi Valley is excellent, and the coaches there are motivating, patient, and great with kids, no doubt this was our positive experience. What I didn't appreciate was the sales pitch and, more importantly, the cancellation process. We were told the membership was month-to-month, with no contract, and that we could cancel anytime. Based on that, we bought gear and enrolled our excited son. Over about half a year, he attended roughly 8 classes. Due to family circumstances, including welcoming a newborn in December 2025, we could attend only about once a week at a stretch. We take full responsibility for this. When we asked to cancel, management said makeup classes weren't possible. We decided it wasn't financially practical to pay full monthly fees for something we couldn't fully use. That's when the issues began. Only one staff member could process cancellations, and we had to wait nearly two weeks to meet with them. The meeting became an almost hour-long sales pitch to stay enrolled. A temporary "pause" offered 20% off $250 for three months, but during the pause our son wouldn't be able to attend any classes. We declined. Then we learned there was a cancellation clause requiring two extra months of payments--contradicting the signup claim of no contract. We ended up paying October, November, and December 2025, even though we didn't use the classes, effectively paying to exit a "no-contract" arrangement. We paid the fees and since then only receive texts trying to re-enroll, which we've declined. As business owners, we value ethical customer relationships and flexibility for families under economic pressure and what we received from Gracie, Simi Valley was quite the opposite. This review isn't to bash anyone or name names. (As you can tell in the review we didn't mention anyone by name). It's awareness for parents considering Gracie Barra Simi Valley: please read the fine print carefully, including Tablet terms so gracefully handed to you for quick signatures. A two-month cancellation requirement or a discounted freeze that blocks class usage are risks I wish we had foreseen. My aim is to warn hardworking families to read the fine print before signing up, not to attack or deter. The economy is tight right now, especially for middle-class working families in California, where the cost of living has risen considerably. Instances like this don't help when companies squeeze every dollar without fully considering the hardworking parent/s. Blessings to all.

Conejo Valley Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been such a blessing for our family…read more My son started training here back in 2018 when he was about 7 years old. In the beginning he went kind of sporadically maybe once a week for quite some time . One day something clicked. Over time he truly fell in love with jiu-jitsu, and the growth we've seen in him has been amazing. It's helped him with discipline, structure, confidence, physical fitness, and overall fun . He hasn't just made friends here , it's family here . After seeing how much our son loved it, my husband joined too, and it has completely transformed his life. His physical health has drastically changed. He's gone from 300 pounds to 190 pounds , he has gained so much strength, focus, and confidence. Both my husband and son now compete in tournaments, and getting to watch them do tournaments together has been one of the most incredible experiences. This dojo is family oriented. The coaches, and the entire environment are supportive, encouraging, and uplifting. We are beyond grateful for Conejo Valley Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place that feels like home while helping you become your best self .

The gym runs so seamlessly that you forget it is a business at all. There's no sales pitch, no pressure -- Emerson's attitude is simple: if you want to train here, great. If not, that's fine too. But honestly, I can't imagine not wanting to be here. This is a place built for personal growth. You can ask questions, learn, teach, and push your limits. Even though it's live combat training, I've never felt unsafe -- everyone looks out for each other. The environment strikes the perfect balance: serious training without ego or "meathead" energy. Newer students are guided carefully, while higher belts have plenty of challenge and opportunity to compete. Emerson is an encyclopedia of jiu-jitsu -- deeply experienced and connected to Rey Diogo, one of the original Carlson Gracie black belts who helped bring jiu-jitsu to the U.S. Rey visits often, and that lineage and spirit are alive in the gym. The space itself is big, clean, and professional -- not a dingy fight club, not a strip-mall karate studio. It's polished but real, built for people who want to train seriously and improve. The kids' program deserves special mention. It's run by actual practitioners -- people who love the art and want to help kids grow, not hired staff clocking in. Jeff, Gerson, Vince and Emerson have a gift for teaching kids discipline and confidence without pressure. Visitors and drop-ins are always welcome, and there's zero politics about cross-training -- we actually encourage learning from other gyms. If you're looking for a place that's as genuine as the art itself -- where people train hard, respect each other, and grow together -- this is it.

Even with that small snafu, I do have to say that Jacob went above and beyond, and went the extra mile. He gave me an intro class on kickboxing, which was really fun. We started out with a warmup, which was just adequate. We went into some basics, jabs, uppercuts, crosses, hooks, and then we started adding a bit of kicking into the process. He had me do a series of exercises in repetitions, and I have to say that I really sweat a lot from the workout. After that, Jacob and I talked about the program, the fees, and about the facilities and the different programs. The fact that you get different sign up options, and the fact that they are willing to work with you, in order to best suit your fitness needs. I have to say I was very happy with it. Although it was a bit more money than what I was expecting to pay, the more time I got to spend watching the Ju Jitsu class and the attention to detail and the way techniques are explained, just made a lot of sense. You can tell that there is a high level of professionalism, as well as a LOT of experience. They have a small rewards system, each class type has a progression system, and they take the time to make your feel comfortable in their facilities. The only thing I would have to say that I didn't appreciate about the experience is the website. It's very overwhelming, and not enough real information is provided. I don't want to click on a link and every page be linked to a video. But the actual experience when I was there, and my interactions with the staff, was really great.
