We found that the materials he had us buy were not appropriate for rooftop application. We then requested that he provide his own licensing and insurance credentials, as well as evidence that a structural engineer had verified the safety of this project before anyone was to return to my property. We expressed concern not only for the structure, but for the safety of my family. The next morning, he arrived at my home unannounced and essentially told us he could immediately continue working, or he would leave with a check in hand totaling 75% of the project cost to terminate. He refused to pause whatsoever to ensure safety, as well as denying any need to provide his licensing credentials. We did not feel comfortable being threatened with a legal headache, so we chose to terminate with a payment and prioritize the safety of my children over finishing a project on his own mental timeline.
