94.3 The Shark ! "Everything That Rock's" Hey Long Island friends, are we chilling out & getting our Rock on? Of course we are! Just love the shark, nevermind their Super cool van with the shark teeth in the front and the FIN on the top. I take at least 30 years off my age when I tune my radio in here. Oh yeah baby, open the moonroof and blast the tunes, it don't matter that it's 9 degrees today. I love listening to that Old group The Offspring, "Hey man, you talking back to me? you gotta keep 'em separated".. Hanging out at the Farmingdale airport plaza, the reception here is 5 by 5. The stations and transmitters are located right here. The Shark is also associated with other radio stations like K 98. 3 and WALK 97. 5. That also broadcast on Long Island. 94.3 The Shark is a rock radio station here on Long Island and boy are we lucky to have it. There are enough of the other stations that play Top 40 pop, urban music, Talk, etc.. There is a bit of classic rock on the local airwaves but they play the same old tired stuff over and over. Once upon a time I liked Led Zeppelin until those classic rock stations beat it to death and made me O.D. on it. But the Shark plays a variety of rock including System of a Down (my favorite!), Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Muse, Metallica, Shinedown, and so much more. They play a new song at 5:10 pm, The Fresh Bite of The Day or something like that. Orlando, the morning DJ, is informative, professional, funny, and makes the commute to work tolerable. I agree with the other review. Id be driving a very unhappy weekly commute if it wasn't for 94.3 The Shark. It's my favorite radio station! They have a great mix of djs/hosts and none of that fake crap like on the morning shows of the Top 40 pop stations. Been listening to 94.3 since the first day they hit the air. While I grew up on BAB, I can only listen to Stairway To Heaven so many times. As a fan of ALL music, I crave diversity and 94.3 definitely plays a good mix especially when it comes to the 90's grunge/Seattle sound. I was fortunate enough to briefly meet morning DJ, Orlando, and was immediately able to pick up on his dedication to fans of the station. My only complaint is that the stations signal is on the weak side(however, you can stream the station live). If you're in central Long Island tune into 94.3. This station is just as bad as every other Long Island radio station, if not worse at times. The morning show is horrendous, Orlando sometimes can't even get out a complete, coherent sentence, let alone know what he is actually talking about. The music that they play is repetitive, yet they give away tickets to bands and artists that never receive air time. It's a shame, but Long Island definitely does not have any station that actually "rocks." To give this station one star is a travesty; I wish I could give it none. They also don't know how to answer your emails. read more
