I stopped going to this spot because of inconsistent hair cuts at one point they crammed a chair into the corner so another barber could work on customers...the chair could only turn to one side. I probably don't have to elaborate on how my cut looked when I left that last time. New barbers and shop owners like this don't understand that once they've burned through the neighborhood like in the Wedgwood population they're kinda done unless they dramatically improve they run out of customers. It's not like a salon where you make an appointment and have a reputation to upkeep. Cutting hair is a technical skill. Anyone can be taught to cut and give a good cut. If a barber needs training it's not complicated to get the resources, most of training now is free thanks to the internet, or they can get the right person to show a barber the correct technique. Professionalism in being a barber and as a hair operator is extremely important since this personal service is regulated and managed by a health regulatory agency of our state government. If shop operators are treating customers poorly this could be a sign that other serious issues could also be involved in running this business. Usually these shops get multiple violations from the state board and health department. I've seen a massive increase in "Barber shops" crop up in the last 5 years. They seem to disappear as quickly as they appear. This means to me that something has become appealing to getting a quick barber license and just winging it. There are good barbers, and good hair stylists. There are also bad ones. Look at the reviews of a person's skills. No need to do a lot of research and remember that everyone has a bad day. Treating customers like crap and retaliation on a repeat good customer is an obvious vote for marking a business to go into the "no" pile, especially when your personal safety is concerned. read more

I get a great haircut for a reasonable price every time here. The seating is comfortable, and the wait times vary between non-existent and short. The Barbers are friendly and detail oriented, when I walk out of here it feels like every hair is perfectly in place and I feel like a million bucks. I'm not a fan of audible televisions, so I'm withholding a single star for being subjected to advertising content that I'd otherwise wish to avoid. My husband decided to try this place its close to our air bnb. The reviews looked solid. But he came back so upset. He said $40 wasted. I immediately could spot the mistakes and the unevenness. We put some alcohol on the back because he said the barber did not put any aftershave. It started to welt up even more. He said it felt rushed despite no one else waiting. The cuts here are 5 stars!! The only reason I'm going with 4 is that the price has steadily increased over the last 3 years and now it's $40 for a simple fade and trim. If a supermall haircut is $15 and a fancy boujee barber is $60, a reasonable cut should be around $25 for a standard fade. Nothing fancy, don't need 30 minutes in the chair, no shave, just a simple cut every 3-4 weeks. Im not complaining that expensive haircuts exist, I'm just a little peeved that the cuts used to 30, then 32, then 34, then 36 and now 40. There also seems to be a fair amount of turnover with the barbers. read more

I went for a cut here after reading all the positive reviews and I have to say I was severely let down. I got the opposite of what I asked for in terms of styling and the other thing was that this guy, without even asking me, implemented styling that was beyond a traditional cut. I figured, if you're going to be a barber for the masses, you would at least ask your patron if he/she prefers this or that ; not trim my sideburns to a thin line and as shorten high as you want. I asked for a low fade and a little off the top and got what seemed like an uneven buzzcut. Also, I'm not trashing the shop here in whole, I'm sure the other barbers are pretty decent. This is an experience with one guy. Can't take that chance to come back again though. read more

I've been coming to this shop almost monthly for over 6 years. I'm always polite and appreciative, and I always tip. I've received a few bad cuts in recent years, but they do a straight razor for the neck (if you ask at the beginning and then remind them at the end), which can be hard to find. I recently got a noticeably uneven hair cut. The hair around my right ear was still touching and even going over the ear in spots, and the left was about an 1/8 of an inch above the ear (which is a lot when you're hair is only 3/8" long). The barber also skipped fading my sideburns and back of the neck, and around the ears, which happens often when they are busy or just don't feel like spending much time on your cut. The day after the cut I woke up very sick, had to quarantine, and was unable to come back in until the following week. As soon as I was able I went in and explained to the same barber (who I believe is the owner) what had happened and he was immediately defensive. When I asked if he could see the difference he begrudgingly told me he would fix it, but no apology or accountability, and he did not try to hide his annoyance. I waited for him to finish another cut, during which he made a joke about how he'll "fix it in a week" if the customer didn't like, an obvious jab at me, sitting two feet away, despite my having already explained twice that I have not left bed in the past week (not that it should have matter). When he finished the other cut I started to get up so he could make quick work of evening out the trim by the ears. He aggressively told me he had customers and I would have to wait. This fix would have taken no more than 2 minutes. I had mistakenly assumed he might feel responsible for giving me a sloppy cut to begin with. Clearly he felt fixing it was doing me some kind of big favor. Most barbers would be mortified to send a client out with that big of a difference in length, especially in such a visible area. He did not care and was so resistant to fixing his mistake that I left. The previous owner was an absolute gem of a man. I'm sad to see what has become of the business he built. The new owner has almost doubled prices. Quality has significantly dropped, both with inconsistent cuts and not bothering with the details like fading properly, along with little things like the shaving cream being cold instead of warm and not cleaning hair off when they finish. There also seems to be a lot of turnover, with new barbers every month. He brings his cat in now too, which is very cute (I have and love cats) except the whole place reeks of cat pee so it must not be litter trained. I will have to pay another barber to fix a mistake that he wouldn't take two minutes to make right for a loyal customer of over 6 years. Obviously I won't be back. read more

Only docking stars because I watched them repeatedly use the same cape for each client over and over and there was absolutely no ventilation in there and with it being smaller and COVID times it got very uncomfortable and stuffy inside the establishment as it filled with clients. Highly recommend an air system in there or an air purifier during COVID and keeping on top of sanitization protocols. Even prop the door open, something! All over great hair cut, iffy protocols. My brother comes up to Seattle to visit often just for the " bougie" hair cuts and this shop did a good cut for him. read more

Nathan is the owner/comedian/master stylist who is responsible for restoring my beau to his major babe status. I had a good feeling about the place, and after confirming my psychic abilities by checking the Yelp reviews I knew this was the place. It's pretty tiny, maybe four chairs, but Nathan fills it up with his warmth, spirit and jovial good nature. Worst barbershop ever. The small chunky barber (His name is Al) is an insecure man-child who thinks he's the guy but works full-time cutting other men's hair. Understandably, if I had his job, I'd be depressed all the time as well. Service was horrible. I had asked if they had enough time to cut my hair before closing time, they said yes and to come through. I got there, and they told me they were closed and to come back another day. I come back today, the owner didn't even say hi or acknowledge me. Then he proceeds to make one of the dumbest statements I have ever heard: "I can't cut your hair with scissors." What? What class of barber doesn't know how to cut hair using scissors? He was just being lazy and for some reason did not want to attend to me, after waiting for a long time. INSANE. Never again. The owner treats his customers horribly. I've heard this from other friends as well. Don't go unless you want to get scammed. PSA to the owner: I know your life sucks, bro, but come on, don't take it out on me. It's not my fault you're dedicating your life to trimming other grown men's beards. Consistently poor experience. Unsure why the 4 and 5 star reviews - my experience in 4 visits was consistently closer to the 1 and 2 star reviews. Immediately after posting this review owner reaches out. Saturday at 5pm... why you figure he has time to respond!? Because the salon's dead - other's know the quality and go elsewhere. Here's the original review: Twice cuts with Al: inattention to details including greatly uneven sideburns, random long hairs missed; very basic buzz cut - I've got no idea if he's capable of anything besides a poor, all-over buzz. No aesthetics sense at all in my experience - the cut is just one length all over your head. Twice cuts with the first chair barber (have no idea his name): much better attention to detail; way better aesthetics for cut that compliments you. The price is about what is offered: basic. They're polite; the place is clean and trendy-ish. The stylists have good haircuts so SOMEONE knows their shit there... but _I_ haven't gotten anything beyond basic from Al; but 1st chair is worth the money. I love this barber shop, and especially the work of my barber/the owner, Al. He's truly a magician and rock star. I've got straight hair in some places, curly in others, and it's changed as I've aged. I also hate making appointments for anything, but also hate waiting long as a walk-in. After bouncing around from bad cut, to bad cut, throughout the city after my long-time barber at another shop moved to Snohomish in 2017, I found Al and his crew around 2018 and have been going to him every 3-4 weeks ever since. I get a salon-level cut and styling (=a razor-part, low fade on the sides, tapered into a layered cut on top, plus I sometimes ask for a razor shave of the neck, beard and eyebrow trim, etc.). He crushes it every time. Also, my very choosy/particular teenage son has had the same experience with one or two of the other barbers there as well. Extra bonus, the prices for what I get done are reasonable IMHO: a little more than the typical Seattle barber shop, and a lot less than the average Seattle salon stylist (and without need for an appointment, yet the wait times are reasonably short to no-wait, plus he works efficiently . . . you're in and out). I trust Al, and highly recommend him and his barber shop! read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. I went in for a simple buzz cut and came out with the absolute worst barber shop experience I've ever had. Here's why: a) the guy would not stop talking, period. Even as I attempted to write an email, he kept chatting. b) I don't think the guy had lubricated his clippers in weeks. I complained several times and he just kept jabbering away. Finally after I literally called him out, he finally used different clippers. c) I watched him try to shave the back of my neck with a USED razor-blade!! And when I asked him, he replied, "oh, you want a new blade?" Like he didn't know how many health codes he was breaking in attempting to use an old razor! I should put in a complaint with the state health dept, but I feel bad for the idiot so I won't. Despicable... These guys should be shut down and their licenses revoked by the state. Just got an "accidental" buzz cut at 95th Street Barber. Language barrier was a clear issue with the younger barber. He asked what I wanted, and I said the hair cut I currently had, just cleaned up a little bit (medium length men's cut). I told him I wear it forward so he didn't cut it for a comb over. He asked what guard length for the sides and I said #3 at the bottom and then longer going up. He then proceeded to buzz my whole head to match his own hair cut. Once I realized what he was doing, it was too late and he had cut a lane through the whole top of my head. When I said I wasn't happy, he tried to play it off and fist bump me. I said no, It wasn't cool, and then he started quickly speaking in Arabic to the older barber who I assume is the owner. Unfortunately, I speak a little Arabic from living in Lebanon and the West Bank, so I contradicted his explanation. The older guy was apologetic and didn't make me pay for the seven minute buzz. Basically, younger guy should have double-checked if I wanted a totally different and much shorter haircut instead of just cutting my hair like his, even if he legitimately misheard me. I recently moved to this neighborhood and trusted the Yelp rating, but I won't go to this place again. As an aside, it's a sucky buzz cut with stray hairs, and he cut my neck in a few places dry-shaving it with a straight razor. read more

Awesome group of barbers! I have been going to these guys for a year. They have three chairs, open seven days a week with great hours, plus flat screens to entertain! Nothing flashy, just old school good quick cut for a great price. As I read through the bad reviews, the one thing that sticks out is the lack of communication by the customer. If you don't like something or if you are particular about the way your hair is cut the say something. Nathan and his barbers are friendly, accommodating, and try to make your experience and haircut a good one. I have had a bad haircut from these guys but, not because of their lack of skill or attention to detail. It was bc I failed to tell them exactly what I'm looking for. They're not mind readers, they're friendly barbers that try hard and are pretty damn good at cutting hair. Lastly, they use the old school straight blade to shave customers not a razor. I've never been cut or nicked in the dozen times I've sat in their chairs with four different barbers. Epic! read more
