I found a spot in the reference section and was able to get a few hours of study there. Plus, the Livingston Public Library is also part of BCCLS (sounds like "buckles"), which stands for the Bergen County Cooperative Library System. Within the BCCLS network, you can borrow books, media, and other lendable materials from any of the libraries in the system as long as you're a resident from one of the participating libraries' municipalities. This is a nice library with lots of natural light pouring into the rooms. It's a great resource for the nearby community, plus there are some interesting displays about local town history (Rikers Art Hill and hometown, Nobel Laureate Roger Yonchien Tsien (錢永健).

This library is a light in the neighborhood. They've renovated since my years ago visit. Arriving recently to a bright, clean, and well organized space full of newness. And of course books galore for those looking for a fairly quiet place to sit and read, utilize their laptops or take home a book for a two week span with no worries of Late Fines being attached. Glad I repaid them a visit. I'll have to make it a point to stop by again in the future.

An organization that I'm affiliated with usually requires me to visit a NYPL location 2-4x a month…read more The Throg's- Neck branch stays in heavy rotation due to convenience especially during bad weather months. While this location is no where near one of the largest it is bigger then the Castle Hill branch. This branch is also one level with adult to the right and kids to the left. The staff is always pleasant and helpful and they offer some afternoon programs for kids during the week such as Kraft Corner. It was interesting to find on yesterday's visit that out of all locations in the NYPL system this location is 1 out of 4 hosting a pilot 3-D printing program that started the first week of March and ends 4/25/19. Librarian Renée explained the process and informed me that there is an adult design session 3/21-22/19 from 3-5pm to teach the design process. For the duration of the program weekly sessions can be booked. It's interesting to watch the designs come to life but the more intricate the design the longer the print will take. The filament is feed into the printer and heated to 215 degrees as the design is printed. Just A Note: The other 3 libraries are Seward Park in Manhattan, one in Staten Island and don't quote me but I believe Belmont library which is also in the Bronx.

I recently visited WOPL at the new location off Rooney Circle by Essex Green. If you're driving…read morethere, the entrance to the library lot is near the Cambria Hotel. It's possible to take the bus to Essex Green and then walk there, but it's far from the stop. It's a nice building. It seems larger than the old Mt. Pleasant location (definitely larger than the temporary annex on Main Street). When you enter the building, the library door will be to your left. From what I remember of the old location, I think the new location given more dedicated space to the kids and teens areas. There are also quiet rooms for private study, and a quiet area on the lower level. There are various self-checkout kiosks, too. Outside, there is also a nice outside area with benches where you can sit and read. If you visit around the time when the sun sets, you'll see some nice sky views. One thing my husband noted was he thought they should have a clearer walkway to the building entrance. If you drive and park in the general parking area (not the designated spots reserved for municipality gov't or library personnel), you're walking up a hill where cars will be driving down. So you can walk on the grass to avoid being clipped by a car either backing out of the premium parking spots across the building entrance, or a car whizzing down the hill towards the gen pop lot. In short, please just be careful and keep your eyes peeled - as both a pedestrian and driver. Overall, the new library looks great and the librarians are friendly.

Roomy inside with so many bare shelves. Only one staff personnel working upstairs. Downstairs staff workers talking so loud to each other was ridiculous. There was no signage whatsoever throughout the property. NO isles were marked to find sections or selections. Plenty of tables and computers. Rack with a large display of current magazines and newspapers near windows.

Although the library has many resources, I use it primarily for three reasons.. I read seven magazines each month cover to cover religiously. Scientific American, Smithsonian and National Geographic are three on that list. Aside from magazines, I also use their Museum Pass Program which allows free access to the American Museum of Natural History, MOMA and The Morris Museum. Lastly, I attend their special programs featured in their Pio Costa auditorium whenever my busy schedule allows. On rare occasions I'll use their computer research data bases, large video library and movie streaming service. This is but a small sampling of the programs and resources available. I believe the Hallmark of a community is the strength of their library and Montville Township Public Library has an exceptional library due in large part to leadership and staff which constantly tries to improve their services and offerings.

We are active seniors who thoroughly enjoy the Montville U programs at the library, virtual ones, craft classes for adults and afternoon concerts. The librarians are wonderful, caring people who work very hard to make the library better for everyone. The library is one of the benefits of our taxes in Montville. It is money well spent.

I did a round of library visits today, on the hunt for some dvds. This is the next closest library…read moreto the one I visited in Paterson, so I figured I'd stop in. This library seems fairly sprawling, taking up a lot more space than most of the other local branches. You'd think that would indicate a wider selection, and maybe that's the case in the sections I didn't see. My main complaint about this library is that they make it really hard to find what you're looking for in the strange guise of making it 'easier'. For instance, They have a section for Fantasy, a section for Mystery, a section for Science Fiction, a section for Fiction, a section for Westerns, and a section for Young Adult Fiction. Which means if you're looking for a genre-crossing title, you've got a lot of places to look. Also, there is no specific section for romance. As an example, I was looking for a romance by Sandra Hill who likes to write time-travel fiction about navy seals and vikings (don't ask). I finally found the title in the Mystery section with a label on the spine indicating that it was Fantasy. Clifton's library DOES have a selection of DVDs and quite a few TV series on dvd, but overall, their selection is underwhelming. They also have a 'new media' shelf which I was hoping would have some new DVD releases. No such luck. This shelf housed titles like "Van Helsing" and "Rambo". I guess 'new media' means new to the library. On the other hand, if you're looking for VHS tapes, this place has a room packed floor-to-ceiling with cassettes. If you're looking for older titles, you might just have luck here. The librarians are helpful, but not terribly friendly. At one point a child wandered in to use the bathroom (He indicated that his father was waiting in the car outside). The librarians took great offense at his presence without an adult and told him to use the bathroom and leave immediately. Ultimately, this creates a quiet environment, if not entirely welcoming.

What a fun and unique library right next to Lincoln Center and the Julliard school. I had a very…read morepleasant experience during my visit. There was security at the entrance and it was easy to manage. On the lower levels of the library there is a very interesting magician exhibit, with real artifacts from Houdini, Kellar, and other notable magic performers. Such a fun spot to spend 30 minutes or so reading about the history of the magic community. The library even gave out free postcards at this exhibit. Cute! On a higher level of the library, you can make an appointment or walk in to watch, original tapings of musicals and movies. I did not do this during my visit, but my friend signed up to enjoy the original taping of Wicked in the future. Although they take walk-ins for this, it is best to make an appointment in advance in case they are busy.
