The main items I shop for are Greeting cards, artificial flowers, and reading glasses! I also look for things that I may have forgotten to bring on a trip or gifts for friends and family at home. This time, I didn't see any artificial flowers. I did see fresh flowers and fresh produce. I will preface this by saying after nearly two decades, I have never had a bad customer service experience at 99 Cent Only Stores until now. I went July 1st. Yelled at by checkout clerk for inserting my debit card too early. I let it go as I almost never have poor experiences in your stores. Went in today. In line, 15 minutes. Lane light is on. Our items are on the checkout conveyor. And then the checker tells me she is closed and turns the light off. I ask why she didn't tell me when I was standing in line for 15 minutes and she unapologetically tells me her manager told her to close and points us to go to the next open lane. We do. Are in line 5-10 more minutes. Then this checker, as we are next in line, tells us she is closed. I tell her we were already redirected to her lane and she shouts, "Sir, I am closed, go to the next lane." This is unacceptable. I proceed to leave my basket and multiple gallons of water my children and I have been moving from aisle to aisle on the floor and leave. Just unbearably unprofessional. I will never return to this store again and would reconsider even returning to your other stores knowing this conduct is accepted by your company read more

So, since corporate has refused to do anything to resolve the MANY issues I complained about (employees harassing customers, employees taking price tags off shelves--during checkout--when a customer mentions an item rang up wrong, calling security anytime a customer complains about an employee's behavior, etc.), my next option is to contact the BBB. They had a very rude manager.My dad got a red bull the sign had said they were $2 so he got 3. When we were checking out my dad saw that he was being charged $3 for each Red Bull. This is by far one of the worse locations. They claim to open at 7 am so i come to the store at 7:05 and the doors are still locked. The lady walking in closes the door and states that they aren't open because she just got to work. I asked what time they open she said she doesn't know because she needed to start the system. Bundles of asparagus, packages of romaine lettuce, name brand ice cream, lunch meats, hot dogs, frozen meals, etc. They have tons of items that can be purchased elsewhere for way more. Lots of name brands and great deals. Just hit the dollar store before you go to the regular grocery. I buy most my veggies here and plan meals around that. They have milk and eggs too. I teach and kids love stickers on their graded papers, so I thought 99 cent only would have a good selection of cheap stickers. Silly me. First, this place is crazy and cluttered. We wandered around and found stickers in a few places. There didn't seem to be much order to things. We found some stickers in a box but the plastic on the box was sticky. Eww! I started getting crowded in line by two big twenty-something's, who decided to take me on when I asked them to observe the six-foot social distancing space emphasized at this morning's "stay home" press announcement. The cashier told them they didn't have to; her manager told her it was OK to stay arm's length. I said these were the recommendations of the World Health Organization and local officials; she said she didn't care. That's what the two guys crowding me said, too. I am elderly and just completed chemo for cancer, so I am very observant. The disrespect they showed did not just hurt my feelings; it may have DELIBERATELY endangered my life. Avoid this location. This is a bad place and 99% in general is fraudulent, how could you put $1.99 on your goods and to check me out turns to $2.99 I didn't look at the checkoi only for me to get to the door and I checked my receipt and I saw it on my receipt is $2.99, turned back for cancellation and I was told they cannot give money back it has to be store credit. This is very crazy what if I don't right at all and I promise not to come to this store in my life they are fraudulent . Why can't I get my money back when I still have my receipt with me. A few things that I often buy are: specialty cards (ex. birthday), specialty bags for gift wrapping, tissue colored paper, Sharpie pens, false lash adhesive glue, kids coloring books, and a bunch of random things. I LOVE A GOOD BARGAIN! The .99 cent stores are my fav no matter the location! They have just about everything, besides nail glue,which is weird but no deal breaker!Over the years the brand has expanded so they do now have 1.99, 2.99, and 5.99 items but not a lot majority of the story is still .99. I wouldn't necessarily do all my shopping here because while most things are 99 cents...checking the packaging on some items, you actually are paying more because you are getting less. Hit and miss, but the bargains make it worth a quick browse. HDMI cables for under a buck. Same with bungee cords and air fresheners for the car. The groceries have some excellent prices, but some that are well over grocery store prices... Mac and Cheese, canned tuna, hot sauce... Are all under a buck at HEB. If you're looking for something to use once and don't need the best quality, the 99 cents only store is a great start. There are some items on 99 cents store , just dont make up the ideas of "not suitable for human but there are some items are incredible cheap with the quality that good to decent. Since i am out of work , i ve been to this place twice a week , yeap .... try to loose some dollars here and there. Plenty great items , my item list : martinelli apple juice, apple juice , bacon (well cook it well done anyway), Cruttons for salad , corned beef(this shit not healthy but OMG great for breakfast) , Cooking oil vegie for 99 cents ? yeah , peanut butter (nyum) , and V8 energy drinks. Store clean and nice , They renovated recently to bigger shelf......People are nice ....90% of them , ....which is great. Should be called "Maybe 99 Cents" now with so many items priced at 1.99 or 2.99, shrunken sizes, and items available at Kroger or H-E-B for less. No longer worth the time. Very few bargains.
