Shopping in Houston, Texas…read more.. I wanted to show my niece this fun, cool store! I had gone to a different location in Houston and got a boogie board for $5. My friend got some organizational room items like a shoe rack and cube system, too - at low prices! Five Below was introduced to me in Los Angeles by my friend, Jean L. She gave me good advice and I passed it on! We enjoyed the quirky t-shirts, cute plushies, large selection of techie stuff, awesome books, etc. Everything is priced $1, $5, $10, or so. Ezekiel was the most friendliest, efficient, and helpful worker! He guided us through the complex self-checkout process. The system was really challenging to me. (I'm not a techie person... Haha!) My niece agreed with me: I wish we had this store in Hawaii! I think Ezekiel would be the perfect person to open the new store! He would be a great team leader - I can imagine him training the new employees patiently! We hope that Five Below comes to Hawaii! While I'm mostly here for all things $1.25 and under, I'm also subject (without fail) to a show almost every time. This is far from the cleanest Dollar Tree and it wouldn't hurt to consider a complete overhaul. The parking lot has the kind of potholes would that would make NOLA proud and there's always some kind of odor just outside the doors. In spite of all of this, this location brings the traffic while so many of the other adjacent businesses feel dormant. To call the store a bit unkempt is one thing, but it really does affect the utility since things aren't the easiest to find. Staff is likely understaffed in some way, since there's always a line at the register and very few folks available to help customers find things. As a result, it's a slow burn perusing for anything here. It's mainly seasonal stuff I'm after, along with their balloons and helium. (#1) The part of me that loves people watching can't help but observe the mini-chaos here that happens frequently. I've seen shouting matches, people getting booted, random shoplifting, and kids that are causing a ruckus throughout the store. This could be any Dollar Tree frankly, but this one in particular attracts all sorts of folks from the nearby apartments. I'm normally a neutral-color dresser but some of the clothes encourage me to step out of my comfort zone into some louder designs. I don't think I've ever come a cross a thrift store with this much versatility. Out of the Closet is serious about HIV/AIDS advocacy and they prove it by putting their money where their mouth is. Like many other thrift stores in Montrose, you can expect marked up (but still fair) prices compared to the larger ones with piles upon piles of clothes to sift through. 96% of all proceeds at this store, however, go toward supporting the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Free condoms are offered near the cashier counter; free HIV testing and a not-for-profit pharmacy sits in the back. The roots of thrifting inherently lie in supporting the community. This is usually accomplished through the affordability of everyday items, but this shop takes it to the next level by showing their dedication to safe sex and access to healthcare. Give this place a visit the next time you cruise through Westheimer -- they deserve your time more than you know.

Its in the Carrington's parking lot down near the Firestone. If you've been to one Family Dollar you've been to them all. Not necessarily the coupon but I had a good experience on the clearance rack at the other Nordstrom Rack in Westchase. But there weren't any thing for me at this Galleria store. Then, I went to the shoe clearance racks but there weren't any clearance shoes. Ok. I found a couple of shoes with special tags on the regular priced racks. Ugh. So unorganized. Back in the summer, it was my first time here after shopped at Westchase Nordstrom Rack and really liked the merchandise. I found a shirt with price tag from Kohls. After I pointed it out to the dressing room attendant, she found a Nordstrom tag to put on there. Then upon check out, the cashier tried so hard to sell me the store credit card. I told her politely as I needed to pay off my current credit card debt before I would apply for their credit card. She said "I'll be watching you next time you come in. You're going to apply for the credit card." I stopped going there during the day.

Also, the flowers were beautiful today, especially the roses that are multicolored and look like a sunset (red and yellow gradient/mix). After making a purchase, my mother who had just traveled internationally for nearly 24 hours to visit me wanted to buy another bag as a gift for friends back home. We waited in line again, but the cashier refused the sale because they recognized us from our earlier purchase. However, we saw other customers rejoin the line and purchase additional bags without issue. There were no signs explaining this policy, and it appeared to be enforced only against us. As Asian customers, this left us feeling singled out and questioning whether discrimination played a role in how we were treated. What made the experience even more upsetting was the way we were spoken to. The employee's attitude felt rude and accusatory, as if we were doing something wrong or trying to steal, when we had simply followed the same process as other customers and spent a significant amount of money in the store. We left feeling embarrassed, upset, and unwelcome. I would appreciate an explanation as to why the policy was applied differently to us than to other customers.
