For cardio, you have the option of using the bike or the rower. They have a variety of weights and a TRX at each station. The staff is great- the owners are very nice and I really like the trainer Stacey. It's very clean with motivating music and darkened lights. The K-State Recreation Center is a beautiful complex on the northwest side of campus. It has…read moreparking reserved at all times for any KSU permit holder except on football game days when those spots are rented out. The Rec Center has its share of weight and cardio machines, free weights, nice locker rooms, and dual entrances. It also has a combatives room, four studios for classes, a private gym for personal training, a rock climbing wall, outdoor equipment rental, a challenge course for leadership development and group bonding, a smoothie cafe, 2 tracks, plenty of courts - pretty much anything one needs to work out. I have been trying out the different classes, getting a feel for the different offerings. Everyone teaching courses is certified in the course area. There are courses focusing on mind & body, cycling, aerobics, cardio, abs - so many options. There are even aquatics-based courses. However, to be a member of the gym for non-students costs one amount, but joining the natatorium has another fee. I have the gym-only membership. Thus far, I have taken all-levels yoga, yogalates, PiYo, and Zumba. The classes are all challenging and intense, and garner a good amount of attendees regardless of the day of the week. There are even classes on weekends. I plan to try as many as I can to vary my work out. To bring a guest only costs $5, so I can have Eric R. join me when he wants to use the gym instead of the local trails. The hours are really good as the center is open most of the day every day.

There are non-traditional students that pay the same fees and attend the same classes; however, it would be hard to tell. The campus is all about this "family" that is wildcats. That "family," can leave you feeling left out and uncared for as a student if you were not raised within a 5-100 mile radius of Manhattan, KS. This campus is swimming with students that have yet to nor will they ever experience what the real world is like. There is a lack of culture and diversity in this small, western, Middle-America town. Some of us do not bleed purple, as a result, will be left on the outskirts of what feels like a neighborhood bonfire that you were not invited to. That being said, there is nothing that can be done about inconsiderate youth here. The real tangible things that can be changed, never will. This university uses its finances to build/purchase/change unnecessary things. What was wrong with the student union? Why would you eliminate study space? The Student Union was perfectly fine and there were plenty of places to study, with tables. Now, this "fancy" Student Union is filled with chairs and what feels like four tables. Where can I spread out my notes and books in order to study? Am I supposed to study in my own lap? Inconvenient to say the least. Fix Willard Hall. That building is a mess. The bathrooms are disgusting and in need of renovation. That is where the monetary resources should have been allocated, that and parking. Another real tangible change, that will never happen, more parking lots being built. As a student that drives 30 minutes one way, I have to fight to find parking. I pay well over $100 and still find myself having to pull a parking ticket because the parking lots are either full or the parking garage is full. Not everyone has the luxury of walking from their home to campus. Parking is beyond frustrating. The ratio of parking per permit type is not accurate. This campus should have built another parking garage or another parking lot instead of building another unnecessary sidewalk. BUILD ANOTHER PARKING GARAGE OR PARKING LOT KSU! Last thing, the library. The library is absolute breath taking and is a pure gem on this campus. The library usually has enough space to hold everyone and houses plenty of study space. That being said, the library is a library. Why should any talking at a normal decibel be allowed. A library is not a "chill spot to hang, fam." The library is and should be a place for scholarly activities. The Student Union is the perfect place to talk. Talk at the union not the library. The whole library should consist of quiet zones, not just one floor that fills up in minutes. The only reason that this campus gets two stars is because some of the professors are excellent. Not all. A large majority of the professors, while not usually approachable, have a clear cut passion for the subject matter and teach in a passionate way.

The physical part of physical therapy did what it could but I was struggling with enduring the pain and the weeks/months it continued. Thankful for my masterfully skilled, physical therapist JH. He took the time to help me mentally comprehend the causation behind the severe, ongoing pain post surgery. It was a huge part of the healing process for me to realize what was happening MENTALLY as well as physically. Consequently due to this physical therapist's skill and dynamic treatment I am months ahead of the normal expectation. Words are not sufficient to express gratitude and for this Master of Physical Therapy and kindness. Blessings in disguise.

Over the years as GRF has expanded to multiple floors and now having a place for aerobics or additional fitness classes I find their gym to be the best in town. You don't work out on carpet, you don't have to worry about adolescents taking up all the equipment and I can say I haven't waited for a machine to do my workouts! During my time there I have asked for a few maintenance needs with equipment with those requests being met very promptly While I have worked out at every gym in JC, GRF is my number one and I refer everyone to try it out and make it there place to go for a great workout.

I looked into it primetime before and I didn't join because it had no real locker room. The owner was a jerk. Bad times of business. Not very good classes. EVERY GYM IN TOWN IS BETTER. So I never looked back. So be it. Then they started offering 24 hr membership. They would be open 24 hrs. mercy fitness is my primary gym but sometimes I want to workout at 3 am or Sunday morning or something. The owner was rude but at the time I was going to be there, he wouldn't. So I was willing to pay for a second gym. So I went in to go talk to the owner Mike Reed ( store number 785-537-3003) and he told me to my face that I was too fat for his equipment and he doesn't want me as a member. I've been going to gyms for years and I'm fifty pounds heavier when I was and they never said I was to fat. Ok if he doesn't want my money so be it. But don't let him get yours either.

I have been going to Hot Worx since it opened in March. Eric R. and I signed up last winter when…read morethe space had not yet started construction. As early members of the location, we got to attend the first month free. Hot Worx offers infrared sauna workouts plus has a non-heated area for weights and some machines. There are four "isometric" saunas which rotate classes 24/7 every 40ish minutes. There are three HIIT saunas which have specialized equipment for cycle, thunder (row), and blast (elliptical type machine with bike seat). I have tried all 9 iso workouts and 2 different HIIT ones (just have cycle left). The workouts are challenging, and I would suggest nothing gets easier when sweating in 125 degrees. Saunas hold up to three people, and there is an app to sign up in advance. Each member has a way to unlock the door with the app so it is secure inside at all hours. The place is staffed six days a week during certain hours, in which members can bring a guest to try a free class. Hot Worx requires all members to buy a mat and towel from them to use in the iso saunas, so keep in mind that is an additional cost. They give birthday discounts and recognize members for their commitment to "earning the burn." The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone I have talked to amongst clients is very nice too. Everyone is working hard to better themselves in the space, which I deeply respect. This is a nice addition to town!
