The salon itself is not super fancy, and you'd never know it from the outside that they are so amazing; but know they have some amazing stylists here. Missy is an expert at cuts, color and perms (yes, people still get those). I have hair that's funky and unmanageable, yet she is able to give me a style that looks great and is easy to take care of. Ok, let's be honest, the name leaves a little to be desired... But the people and the fabulous job they do are head and shoulders (pardon my lame pun) above the competition. I met my stylist, Missy Trujillo, when her family used my car service (I actually just arranged limo service for them) about a year ago. I love to patronize small, local businesses, particularly when they use my services, and, as a fairly new transplant out here, I had not found a stylist that could match my stylist in Atlanta. That was until I met Missy. She did a color consult with me, because I've got quite a few grays hairs making their appearance. Can anyone say, Bonnie Raitt? The mark of a truly great professional is someone who listens to what you want but is strong enough to let you know that maybe that isn't the best move for you. She made several great suggestions and I walked out of there feeling better than I can remember about my hair. I just can't say enough about Missy and the whole gang at A-1. Missy Trajillo is the most amazing hair stylist, with mad skills with color. She turned my brassy, over processed blond to a dark and light silver, with subtle purple tones. It's STUNNING, and everything I'd hoped for!!! She was honest, upfront, had insights on how to keep my hair in great shape through the process - after all the many steps my hair took (5 hours), my hair feels and looks fantastic. Her pricing was much more affordable than other salons, and Missy was very gracious on cost. I've spent much more $$ at fancier salons, but never got this kind of result - not even close! WOW, I am blown away, Missy is a coloring GENIUS. I came here looking to go blonder after I read some reviews that said she is great at taking people blonde. The last 3 expensive salons I had gone to all told me they wouldn't be able to take me much blonder, and I had left with my hair looking almost exactly the same as when I came in. Missy was confident that it wouldn't be a problem, and she was able to achieve exactly what I wanted, far exceeding my expectations. My hair was actually in better condition when I left than when I came in. She also gave me a great cut, and was very professional, sweet and fun. She is easy to get along with and was understanding of my initial nervousness. Like other reviews said, this place is a hidden gem and the prices are "a little too affordable" for the quality of the outcome you get. Don't be put off to get your hair colored just because it says "barber". I would spend twice as much or come twice as far to get this same result, but luckily I don't have to now that I have found my new favorite stylist :) You rock, Missy! read more
