Cheap, good, old-fashioned haircutting. They always do a great job, and they use all the old-school tools: they trim the neckline with a straight razor, they splash on bay rum, they check all over (eyebrows, etc.). Lieu is my favorite barber ever--funny, sweet, fast, thorough, never makes a mistake. She usually cuts my hair. By now, though, I think everybody here has cut me at least once. She and her husband Dan work their fingers to the bone running this place, and sometimes they get a day off. If she's not working, that's the rare time I get a different cutter. They're all great, so fastidious and thorough. They make sure to get the entire head clean, and they have that old-school touch with the strop razor. I really dig that for some reason. A lot of them are really quiet, but one girl was almost as chatty as Lieu, telling me all about her family's pets. Which actually involved some pretty entertaining stories. I respect both approaches--get 'em in, get 'em out, or be super neighborly and social. Maybe I just never end up in here when I am in a hurry, but I love the laid back, chatty atmosphere. I have always thought that's what a barber shop is, I guess. They have two big screens in the room to pass the time while you wait (no reservations), and always a fresh stack of magazines. Since Dan is a soccer maniac (still playing at tournament level), the TVs are often tuned to soccer when he's on, which is almost every day. read more

Debated between a 3-4 star review but went with a 3 because of the inconsistent quality of haircuts here. There are a few that do great work, and there are a few that do not do good work at all. I've never had an employee be disrespectful like other reviews have stated, but there is an employee who clears her throat extremely loudly and often that I find repulsive. I do love how they give a hot foam shave around the neck area and ears, it is a very nice touch and makes the lines look great. I will keep coming here but I wait for the barber that I want because the others do subpar work. read more

So disappointing. Was referred here by a friend. The older male barber did not listen to my son at all! My son grew his hair out for 6 months and it reached his lips. We asked to cut off only 1.5 inches on top. Tell me why he cut off about 5-6 inches! His top is now a little above his forehead. It was too late to even stop it once he started the first cut on top. If you think barbers are impesonal, don't go here. Barber is not a menial job. This is a personal interaction. You are giving your appearance over to an artist. And you are exposing your throat to a man or woman with a razor. I have gone here for years. The old Marine that ran the place sold to folks that worked for him. If they ask what you want, tell them. They'll do it. If they tell you to relax and lift your chin... do it. I am always pleased with the result. I never let anyone shave me until these folks did it. Sure beats the heck out of the last few places I've been to! For the last few years I've been looking for a place that cut hair well and didn't charge an arm and leg for it...never found it. Sport Clips, yeah right. Rudys, a little better, but upped the price for a shampoo that you practically had to beg for, the cuts were not that great, and stylist had egos that did not match their skill. Place in Mill Creek next to Nero...soooo over priced and I got someone straight out of beauty school. Pass. The 5 times I've been to the, barber at FM, I've gotten consistantly good haircuts and the price is fantastic! These guys just don't do a quick pass over your hair, they do 3 or 4, and they finish it off with a vac and straight razor around your hairline. One thing I've learned is, be specific, especially about how you want the hair around your ears trimmed. I've seen them go kinda high on some people...looked like they were wearing old fashioned hearing aids when they left. All and all, this is a good place that doesn't cost a lot of money, consistently do a good job (twitchy guy is the best), and they take cards. The only con I will say is, they need to clean up more. I know they get pretty busy for most of the day, but other peoples hair kinda grosses me out. read more

The shop itself is a bit hard to find. You'll see it on the West side of the building, right next to a/the nail salon. On the South side of the building, you'll see Hair Masters, which is what I thought people were referring to, but the barber shop is just around the corner. Pretty standard barber shop, four chairs, little to no wait on a weekday lunch hour. They're fairly fast and efficient without making you feel rushed. They do give you a nice straight razor cut on the neck, which you don't find too often. The barber that was cutting my hair confirmed the lengths in a mirror before doing the actual cutting, that was a nice touch. It's a $14 haircut, it didn't knock my socks off, but I didn't leave unhappy. They take cash and credit cards, which is a bonus at a barber shop. read more

This place's name is really selling it short. It's hands-down the best barbershop experience I think you can get in the area. This place gets five stars from me for a few simple reasons: 1. It's cheap 2. It's fast 3. They use a freaking vacuum on your head In all seriousness, though, this place is bomb. Wait time is typically between 0 and 10 minutes, service is great, and they finish off the trim with a straight razor. My favorite is the male owner (the chair closest to the door). The barbers are all friendly and efficient, though; it isn't the fastest haircut I've ever had, but these guys really exhibit attention to detail. I love that this barber shop is just a little hole-in-the-wall establishment. The owners have established a rapport with a lot of the regulars which just adds to the local feel. Well done, sirs -- well done! I haven't received a hair cut at the hands of another for about 8 years. No, I don't look like a burly Rapunzel. I shave my head at home. By myself. But I was tired this past weekend, needed it tidied up, and figured, you know, "what the heck." For some reason I was nervous. Yeah, nervous to get a buzz cut. I was probably nervous about trying to remember what to ask for since its been nearly a decade. How do I communicate my follicle wishes appropriately (yeah, I overthink stuff. And I ramble.)? I went in on a weekend afternoon and each chair was occupied. I didn't mind waiting awhile since all three TVs had the NFL playoff game on. Trim slowly, gents. I only had to wait a couple of minutes before it was my turn in the chair. I didn't know the shortness number I wanted so I asked if we could start long and work our way shorter. He did. Twice. My sideburns and neckline were trimmed with a straight razor and my head was vacuumed (yeah, that's right) to remove the little itchies. The $14, plus tip, was worth every penny. I think I'm going to start liking turning over trimming responsibilities to these guys -- especially during football season! read more

Strolled in yesterday to get my ears lowered and walked straight into a chair, no wait at all. The guy cutting my hair asked what I wanted and I said "same style but shorter, I think a three on the sides" from this incredibly vague description, he was able to do exactly what I wanted. The barber was friendly and efficient, put a lot of attention into the details, and I really liked the straight razor on the neckline. I have been getting my haircuts here for my entire life and now they just don't listen, I went in to get a haircut a couple weeks ago and they cut it super short even though I asked for long on the top. My boyfriend has gotten his hair cut here multiple times and is always happy with the result. He gets a basic military cut but they're thorough and they take their time. One of his favorite parts is they use a straight-edge razor for the sides and neckline. lady with the glasses said my hair was difficult to work with but my haircut was so simple, she cut most of my dyed hair off, which I'm pissed! All I asked was to cut off the sides and the back and she ended up some how messing up my hair... she didn't even line my hair up and hair is everywhere on me... There are only really one or two good barbers here, if you get them great, i've tried about 5, the most recent prompted this review, yesterday I went in for a haircut and asked for a LOW or LONG fade, the opposite of high and tight, it's what you get as an adult when you want a business hair cut. the lady there (old lady with glasses [avoid]) she simply gave me the hitler youth haircut and send me on my way, you can't un cut hair, and i had hair in my eyes so i could barely see. I started going here since gas has been getting expensive and I was no longer interested in driving to my longtime barber in Seattle for the last 17 years. I was wary of moving to another barber after so many years, but these people put me at ease. Well, this place is great. The barbers are friendly and and nice. I've been taking my son, Anthony here about ten years now. My son looks forward to seeing Dan or his wife for his haircuts. Anthony is a pretty picky kid when it comes to his hair. They are the only one seems to get his cuts right. If he's happy, then I'm a happy mom. There are several time I would try taking my son to a salon to get his haircuts but the stylists doesn't ever seem to get it right. Old skool-style barber shop. Love it. I've been going here for 12 years (and do my shopping at "Freddy's" (Fred Meyer) next door. No nonsense haircuts. Chill. Gets busy there quite often. Mid-week seems best, but you never know. Probably 30 haircuts and they have all been great. Expect a cut to take about 20 minutes or longer. They are not there to "mow your melon" and get you out the door. They take care to give you good cut (and a shave of back of neck and sideburns. Trim eyebrows if you like. Great cuts for a great price. I've been coming to this location for over 10 years and this is the only place in the area with quick efficient service, with great attention to detail. (If you want something specific, let them know or else you'll get what they think you want.) $14 dollar haircuts with a 3-4 passovers in check of work, they take a vacuum to your head to get the majority of the hair off you, then use hot lather machine (OMMMFFGGG) and straight razor to clear out the edges. I don't get fancy haircuts. Just a fade - top to bottom - 5/3/1. This place does that quick, and very well. They get you lined up/shaved using warm shaving cream and a straight edge razor. Small talk is kept to a minimum which is a nice change of pace. My haircut is 14.00, I hand over a 20 and I'm out the door. I highly recommend this place for guys like me. At first the guy didn't know what type of cut I wanted after showing him a couple pictures, but his buddy in chair #1 cleared it all up. Maybe language barrier? I don't know. Inconsistent experiences. There used to be an ex military guy working but now it's all asians. Some of them do a good job while others do not. The asian guy in charge is pretty rough. There was a lady that I really thought did well but couldn't find her again. On my last visit I was cut by what seemed to be a student barbar as she had to get the head guy to do the shave. Based on the haircut alone, 5 stars. It was excellently faded, i really like the hot straight razor shave at the end and the vaccum was cool. After moving back to WA, not knowing where i could get a good fade. I did my research, and came across this place. There seemed to be an issue with language barrier. I would come in, show the stylist a few pictures on my phone of what i wanted done, and it seemed she would barely look at it, smile and nod. I hadnt even got to show her the other picture. This could have something to so with the other issue i had. They have mirrors at each station, right? Their purpose being, i assume so you can watch them as they cut your hair, and your able to chime in or give input during the cut, sayint things such as: dont do that, a bit shorter please, or i didnt want it that short. They literally spin you so your facing 180° opposite of the mirror till the very end. Only when they present to you your finished haircut will they spin you around. Does That not defeat the purpose of the mirror? Could we not avoid cutting hair too short or against how a customer wants by simply not spinning you away from the mirror. Despite the small issues i personally had, mos times i still left happy with a good looking haircut, at a good price. The finished product wasnt SUPER far from what i had asked for. I did once have to do a simple once over with guarded clippers since she left a long 2" triangle of hair in front with a skin fade on the sides. myself when i got homei think some employees speak better English than others. It could be some just dont want to. Who knows. I dont think i had the same person cut my hair more than once. So i can recommend anyone. I probably wouldnt have tried this place over others except it was so close to where i was working at the time. I got my hair cut here a handful of times. Each time inching closer to what i had asked for. But i cant see giving them less than 4 stars based off their skills, service, speed, and price. read more
