My dad's carpet needed cleaning, so I called A-1 to set up an appointment. When the appointment time was going to be missed, because a meeting ran long, (as meetings tend to do), he called to let me know that he was running a few minutes late, but that he would be there in 15 minutes. I found Phillip to be VERY professional and courteous. He explained every step, and what he was going to do. Great at communicating, curteous and professional. The only down side is the strong scent of chemicals used during cleaning, wish they had a hypoallergenic version of the solutions for those of us more sensetive. These guys are the best! The carpet in my house had gone from beige to grayish - brown over the years. I called these guys and told them I was considering either replacing the carpet or having them professionally cleaned if they could be made to look like new again. I called A-1 cleaning right before Thanksgiving and was so happy and relieved they could fit me into their schedule. The owner was very helpful in answering my questions about what special treatments I would need, if any, after a year of puppy surprises! He was also able to give me a quote up front and it was reasonable and competitive with other businesses in the area. Roger, the technician was very friendly, personable and professional as well, and did a fantastic job on the carpet! It looks like new and smells really fresh. After a year of what's felt like living in a barn with this fast growing messy labrador, I never thought the carpets would look like new again! Great service and the carpets look great but what really earned them 5 stars is what they advised me NOT to do. I really appreciated the frank and upfront feedback that some of the carpets in our new house were simply beyond saving and cleaning was not going to get rid of the smell of the previous tenants and their animals. Would never recommend this company. They are over priced! We needed a cleaning service for a move out. Our neighbors had used them a year ago and at that time they charged $425 for a small 3bd/2.5ba townhouse (we live in the exact same size house). We thought that was high but we're willing to pay that to not have to worry about cleaning and a move with an infant and toddler. We had them come for an estimate and 2 days later they sent us a quote for $975!!!! We were shocked to say the least! When I called the company to make sure it wasn't a mistake the lady said that it probably wouldn't be that much but that they need to allocate enough time. Still I wasn't in any way ever going to agree to those high prices, so I emailed the person in Charge of estimates. She claimed they lost money on the service they provided to my neighbors and that's why our estimate was so high and also that it most likely wouldn't be $975. Yeah, NO WAY! They are scammers! They wanted $40/hr and claimed that they would need 7 hours for a 2.5 bath! I'm so glad they were so ridiculous because we found a more reasonable cleaning company, in Arcata cleaning company who is cleaning our house for $210 and that's what she estimated would be the maximum. A-1 not only lost my business but 4 other families!!! I doubt anyone in the coast guard will use them because I've told all my friends how ridiculous they were! read more

Excellent service! I was unable to be there for my carpet cleaning appointment. A1 had no problems making arrangements with me, I dropped off a key at their office and made payment over the phone. They were very punctual, called me the day before to remind me, and let me know again when they were on tsite and when they were done. Everything went perfectly smooth and they are totally reliable. And the carpets! I didn't have much hope for the areas of the house with older carpets, and this place had been a rental. They came out spotless and odor free!! We had A-1 cleaning services come to our home today to powerwash our back patio in preperation for a baby shower. Prior to our moving into the house there were cobwebs, spider webs, dirt and flilth from what seemed like years of neglect. When the job was done it looked like a completley different house! He exceeded or expectations and even got rid of all the weeds growing from the cracks in the concrete.
