A1 heating installed broken mini splits and heat pump June 10th 2025. Installed incorrect 220 volt fuses and wiring. Then A1 replaced parts for several months. Now January 30, 2026 after replacing the entire heat pump it works. The customer service was horrid and 8 months is too long to complete an installation. read more

We bought our Lennox mini-split system from A1 three years ago. Regretfully we had some issues & problems with the unit. A1 struggled with Lennox to get everything resolved, but at the end of the day - A1 got us a new replacement unit and will continue to support us with minor adjustments moving forward to make sure it works as designed & meets our heat and A/C needs. read more

A-1 provided exceptional service. I contacted online on Sunday morning thinking I might get contacted sometime the following week. I received a call later on Sunday. I told them it wasn't an emergency but was available next day if they could fit me in. The next morning I got a call shortly after 8:30am and my appt was scheduled for 2pm same day! Service tech showed up on time. Was very thorough and friendly. All this great service was provided at reasonable price. I will definitely call A1 first the next time I have an issue with my heater. read more

A1, - We are new to McCall and were out of town coming back for Thanksgiving. Our Realtor stopped by our house to turn up the heat for us. She noticed the thermostat was set for 55 but is was showing 48 We called A1. Our Realtor took a call In her car and before she hung up Randy was there! He got it back on and we were warm for the holidays. We have a home warranty and we have been dealing with them for over a month. A1 has been amazing jumping through the hoops required by that less then amazing warranty company. Every contact we have had w A1 has been positive. Shop local. We worked with Randy at the McCall office for several months over the summer of 2020 regarding the installation of our HVAC system in our home which is under construction. Randy met with us twice, did calculations and provided us with an estimate. We agreed and hired A-1. In early September 2020, Randy called and told us that he would be able to start the work the following week. We notified all of our other subcontractors regarding the HVAC installation and scheduled them accordingly. We waited for Randy and no one showed up or called. After a couple of days and several calls to his office, Randy called and said that he'd "try to have someone show up next week." Again, we waited the entire third week of September and no one showed up or called us. A-1 was working on a project three doors from our house, so we were very confused by their lack of responsiveness. We called several more times and politely inquired when Randy would be ready to complete our job. Incredibly, this is being written on October 20, 2020 and, despite our clear complaints to the company, neither Randy, nor anyone at A-1 has returned our calls, shown up to install our HVAC system, or provided any sort of explanation regarding what happened and why. This is simply unacceptable and completely unprofessional behavior. If Randy and/or A-1 were not interested in doing our job all they needed to do was communicate that to us. We believed that Randy would do the work because he told us more than once that he would. A-1 and Randy's promise to perform the work and ultimate failure to respond to us or perform on any level caused the construction on our home to be delayed for almost two months. We were forced to re-schedule all of the other subcontractors, if they can fit us into their schedules at a later time. We would never recommend using A-1 unless you have first signed an iron-clad contract with them, which includes a firm date of commencement and completion. I've had a few emergencies recently with heating and called A1. They quickly responded and fixed my issues promptly. I usually request a quote to make sure that they arent overcharging me. Their prices are in line with what other companies charge in the area. So many companies now are too busy to take care of their customers. Not A1. Truely a company that is as good as it gets. In this day or poor product quality and quesionable customer service, these folks stand out as an example of how it should be done. We have done business with them for years, and never once have we felt like we were being rushed into purchasing some thing we didn't need, or getting sold a service that wasn't necessary. Our last experience with them was last month when they installed a heat pump in our New Meadows, ID home. The unit they installed was actually too large for the square footage, and quite noisy. Without even being asked, Randy their service manager ordered another, smaller unit. Within less than a week, the crew was back at it removing the larger system, pipes and all, then installing the smaller unit. The new unit is fantastic, actually the warmest our home has been in 10 years. The installation crew on both installations were fast, clean, and informative. On the second installation, they did all they could to remove all signs showing on the larger installation. We have no reservations recommending A-1 to friends, family, or neighbors. Heater was momentarily starting and shutting off. Service person thought it was either the propane valve or main control board. I questioned this, because it sounded more like a lockout issue (flame sensor or damper), but tech assured me he had checked these and saw no problems. New board and valve ordered, just in case I guess? Not sure why the problem couldn't be isolated down to one or the other? The cost of the replacement board on Amazon was $140. A-1 invoiced me over $500 for the part. When I stopped in and asked them about this, they pointed to some obscure catalog they have and said I was paying extra for the warranty and who knows what else. It was ridiculous! These guys rate zero stars. I needed a new furnace. Their bid was $6500 for a 100k btu 96% high efficiency unit. The next highest bidder was for $5500 for the same unit. I went with Advanced out of Boise. They drove up to McCall the next morning and installed a 96% efficiency two speed 97k btu furnace for $4178. Complete with removal, propane adapter, etc. Done by 3pm the day after I placed the order. NOW GET THIS! The A-1 guy called back and we told him we went with a different bid because his was too high, and the thief got mad. He said "Why didn't you tell me you were getting other bids? I could have done better on that price." Absolute crooks. read more
