He was diagnosed with stage IV liver cancer on October 24, 2025 -- one day after his first birthday -- and was euthanized on January 5, 2026 at just one year and two months old. I informed the breeder and was told no other issues had been reported. I was also offered another puppy from a current litter, and there has been no follow-up since. To my knowledge, breeding has continued without pause. My veterinarian stated that cancer this severe at such a young age is extremely rare and medically abnormal. My son and his girlfriend bought a older dog from them that they no longer use for breeding or showing and they had issues with her having ticks right when they got her she also had a tick disease she had to have treated and worms they are still trying to treat. I have bought from breeders before and I have always seen the parents and where they come from . Unfortunately, they met halfway to receive this dog. so they did not see living conditions . The dog was only updated on her rabies shots and nothing else, so they also had to get all her shots updated. Use good judgment before buying. The dog they got is now being well taken care of and loved and is in a much better home now .

I've adopted, too…read more Sometimes, however, getting a dog from a breeder is the best option, like for those of us with hardcore allergies, or for other reasons may want a non-shedding dog. In those cases, finding a good breeder who not a puppy mill is essential. I did much research prior to deciding what breeder to select. I read about warning signs and looked at reviews, history with state regulators, and the breeders' own transparency. One breeder refused to let anyone on their property; puppy pickups happened at local truck stops. Jason at Kingdom Dogs answered all my questions. When I finally decided to visit them, I still wasn't sure about getting a puppy. They happened to have a few unclaimed yet, and we fell in love with a floofy little cockapoo. He is now more than a year old, and a whopping 35 pounds (he was supposed to max out at 30), but has the sweetest disposition and is smart, too. Oliver brings us joy every day. I give Kingdom Dogs 4 stars instead of 5 because, at the time we got Oliver, they were still docking cockapoo tails in the tradition of Cocker Spaniels. While his little nub is cute, I'd prefer tails be left natural. I think they stopped that practice in 2020, but I'm not sure. They also have slowed down the breeding so they have a waiting list now, ensuring that there are rarely puppies available who have to wait to be sold. This is better for everyone. Kingdom Dogs is located on farmland in Carthage, Missouri. It's a family business. A few months ago, I met another cockapoo owner at the groomers. He had a dog with him from Kingdom Dogs, too. He said that was his second, and he was thinking about getting a third, because of their sweet disposition. If I got a third dog, I would have to get on Yelp for referrals for divorce attorneys, realtors, and moving companies!

He gave us a wealth of information on the breed, whether she would be right for our family and what to expect, he was more than happy to answer all of our questions. According to one of those pages she had 74 adult dogs and 78 puppies at time of the inspection in 2023. With that said, the puppies are absolutely under socialized. I went to view two 12 week old mini Aussies and also met a 16 week old pup. All three were fearful and took a lot of convincing to approach us. I ended up picking the one who wouldn't approach us at all as I knew she would need a lot of extra work put into her to become a well adjusted adult dog. I've had her for a month now and she still will not willingly approach us when called nor accept pets or attention unless she is tired. And if she doesnt know you at all good luck touching her. She is getting better but the process is slow and she's overall an easy puppy but the fear of people is a huge problem for her. I do NOT think she was abused in any way. She just was not socialized or handled enough. While yes some of her fear could just be some genetically predisposed fearfulness, I think the main factor was the lack of handling at an early age. The women I met were both older, the dogs that I could see were clean and looked like they'd been groomed. They vaccinate, deworm and microchip the puppies (they seemingly do all of this themselves so they do not actually see the vet). The loose dogs were friendly and the dogs in the kennels were all quiet while we were viewing them. I do not think these are horrible people. They just have too many dogs to provide adequate care for.
