Review Visit: October 11th, 2014…read more Rollingbrook Park is just many one of many parks in the Bloomington-Normal area. My dad and I came here during a day of exploring and was greeted with a nice park. It has your typical playground and spacious grounds. But this one has a pretty nice tennis court. So if you get the urge to play, there is a place to play in Blo-No area. I really don't remember much about this park aside from the cool tennis courts. Definitely one to check out if you are park exploring!

I question some of the hole handicaps, some of the par3's are harder than the par5's. All of the par4's are relatively short, its quite easy to get within ~75 yards of the green for most. Carts are new & nice and have GPS enabled, also a distress signal if something happens. Portalets around the course are few and far-between, I would not dare use them. Concessions are totally affordable, some of the best beer & snack prices I've ever come across!

The golf course is revamped as a 12 hole course which is interesting. We went to Railside last night for dinner and were really pleased with our dinner. My husband had their new fish sandwich and we were told later that he was the first to have this new menu item. I had a chicken sandwich that had cheddar cheese and bacon. The food was delicious, and the portions perfect. I actually could not finish my sandwich and fries although that may be because we tried two different appetizers! I highly recommend the food here!

Review Visit: October 22nd, 2014…read more Clearwater Park should also be called Spacious Park. Clearwater Park is one of many city parks in Bloomington-Normal. The city has literally 7+ parks, if I am seeing this map right. But what sets this one apart from the others? Space. This park is relatively bigger than a standard park. It has basketball courts, a volleyball sand pit area, a playground, a gazebo for parties and openness. I didn't spend a whole lot of time here, but I enjoyed every second of it. The leaves were changing colors, the weather was just right. It was a nice visit. I just enjoy the openness of this park. If you find yourself in Bloomington, there are quiet a few nice parks to visit. McGraw Park and Holiday Park are two you should definitely check out, if you have kids and they love parks... or if you are a kid at heart like myself.

On tablet the town looks like it's a destination stop and get a hotel room with the museums, restaurants etc but it's really just a drive through stop on Route 66. The town is a nice small Midwest town with very friendly people I noticed everywhere. The reason that Pontiac Il is not a destination Route 66 stay over night town is the 4 museums are very small and three are all in one building with the 4th around the corner and realistically you can take your time and do all four in an hour. I stayed on a Sunday and to my surprise all the nicer steak menu restaurants are all closed so my nice dinner was not going to happen, I had to go to a bar/restaurant 12 miles away for a steak dinner. Overall it's a nice Route 66 stop but it goes very fast with the attractions and it should be a pass through on a Route 66 road trip.
