She always had great ideas on how to get kids involved in activities even if they were a bit shy. She came to classes with tons of material and adjusted to kids' pace and level yet pushed them to do more in a playful form. She's very sweet and friendly, so my daughter felt no pressure, and always wanted to go to her classes. Later on, when my son was going through the same stage, we didn't have any doubts whether to sign up for Ms. Kyria's class or not. Ms. Kyria was always great at communicating with parents, sent us materials to work at home, shared pictures from her classes, so we always knew what's going on. Now both of my children are doing great in school. Their English is above their grade level, and I'm grateful for that to Ms. Kyria!

I emailed Bright Beginners on a Tuesday hoping to arrange a visit on the Thursday. The owner and sole employee Eugenia let me know she doesnt allow visitors during the week and would like us to visit on Sunday. I figure fair enough since it is a home daycare center. I did however let her know that I would really like to see how she operates prior to enrolling my child. So I did the first daycare visit bymyself without my husband . The house is a nice size and clean with quite a bit of actvities. The cost is relatively impressive as well in comparison to other centers but it is in someone's home so I kinda expected it to be less expensive. However, I feel I have a few legitimate concerns about this center. 1) The owner and sole employee is I would assume from looks over 55. This was a concern to me because she would be working with small children and if an emergency arises I wasnt sure how those things would be handled in terms of her own health. However she seems to be in relatively good health. 2) The website says she takes 2 year olds but she actually doesnt take kids under 2.5 years. This would have been nice to know in advance to visiting. I let her know my daughters age prior to the visit. I was only instructed of the age requirement once I came home after the visit and received an email...It would have been nice to have been given that info. 3)This Center does not allow you to test out the facility. I am use to centers letting you at least tour the location while they are actively engaged with the children. I understand since this is a home daycare the need to screen people before allowing them around children. However, I think it is really important for parents to get insight into how they operate daily to see if its a fit. I was even willing to pay for the time in order to see how my child interacted still no luck...I understand the reasoning but its still odd. So besides the bulleted points I did not have the best feeling about it, I had my husband visit with me as well on a second occassion to see how he felt (the age was an issue to him), and after receiving the email after our visit in regards to the age requirement even though we were not told through our emails, phone calls and two visits that kind of sealed the deal in terms of this being a NO-GO. This facility has only been open since September 2009 I would have rated it one star but I thought it would have been unfair. The facility is clean, cheap, and in a good neighborhood. It was not a fit for my family but It may be alright for someone else. My daughter is just to precious to me to deal with the uncertainties of this new center its not to say I wont consider it in the future once it is up and running but as of now 2 stars

He started going to Bright Beginner just after he turned 2 1/2 and began singing the ABCs in the first week. What enticed me to Bright Beginner was the welcoming feeling and the bright colors. All of the traditional preschools and daycares seemed so drab compared to Bright Beginners. I also liked that the cost is affordable and food and potty training is provided. The first week of attending Bright Beginners, I was sent pictures of my son often and received phone calls to ensure he was okay after being dropped off. When something really good happened (such as going potty in the toilet) Eugenia and my son called to let me know right away. Every day, my son has something fun and exciting to share with me. He has been learning so much and really looks up to Eugenia. She is a wonderful person and is great with the kids. It is a very homey and friendly atmosphere, with a strong educational involvement. I feel Jodi's review is a bit premature and unfair. As a parent, I appreciate the fact that Eugenia doesn't have "strangers" coming into her center while other kids are there. I was able to view the facility during the week, just after the operating hours. Plus, if she is spending time showing around other people, how would she be able to watch the children? That is why it makes sense to me that she has people view the place after hours. Eugenia operates her daycare as efficiently and educationally as a preschool. In response to the concerns: Yes, she is the sole owner and operator, but she also has her two responsible, grown children assisting her at times who are great with the kids. My son is currently the youngest of the children, and Bright Beginners is worth waiting out the few months if you can; plus you don't want your just two-year-old being knocked around by 3 and 4 year-olds. The kids are great, but they are kids and a just barely turned 2 year-old will get run over. Eugenia is very good at keeping an eye out for the safety of the children during play time and keeps them very engaged with activities. I will continue to take my son to Bright Beginner as long as we live in the area and have recommended her to all of my friends with children.

At the other places, it was a like a "child factory" where all these kids were merely just taken care of without that extra bit of GENUINE care, and although there were "sick rules" (meaning a child goes home if they have a high fever or anything contagious) they were NOT strictly enforced. Also, I'm pretty sure the toys were not wiped down often which is a MUST for kids and sicknesses! My kids came home sick all the time from those places and honestly it was SO tough for us. OH! Another HUGE BONUS is that she feed them healthy, home cooked, often organic food, and when my kid had kidney disease she happily took on the responsibility of making sure he had a low sodium diet. I offered to bring in food for him but she said she was going to take care of it, as if it was her own child. Anyway, Pam's House is a small family. Sometimes I think she loves my kids more than I do. LOL!!! Seriously though, if you want your kids to have an absolutely incredible start to their lives, trust me, send them here. Sadly, we recently had to move for hubby's job, and we are finding the same issues with the surrounding day cares at our new home. As a fellow SLP and after observing her with my daughter, I often refer others to Chris. I would much prefer to refer to a single clinician than a larger agency, as I know exactly who will be working with the student, and can give my highest recommendation. With the larger practices, I don't know who will see my student, and what their experience is. Chris is warm, kind, effective, honest, and has worked in both private practice and the school system so she can tell you how the two work together and advise you on whether your child could qualify for district services. Although she works with many types of students, she has a speciality in students who are deaf and hard of hearing, and teaches and consults in this area.
