We rented a 6-person golf cart from A & M on June 3rd and it was a smooth process. The picked us up (courtesy pick up) at our guesthouse and took us back to the station. Everyone was super friendly, working in the shop I saw guys tuning up bikes and scooters. Everyone was chatty and personable. We had a choice of electric or gas golf cart and chose gas. It was so darn fun! We toured the island's back streets and Ft Zach point. Took it to see the sunset and then called Andrew to see if we could rent for a few more hours to get some dinner. There's no better accomodations and selection in all of Key West. Other than the people being so polite and friendly and helpful their prices are the best oin Key West. Really surprised by some of the negative reviews here but noticed most are several years old. We just rented 4 scooters for 3 days and had a really good experience. Price was fair and even had some extra surprises like a free ride to the airport. Also learned they will pick you up as well. That's a nice extra benefit! The guy who dealt with us was friendly and efficient. No surprises and dropping them off when we were done was quick and easy. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is we sometimes had some problems starting them but nothing major and it never was a problem. Overall the condition of the scooters was fine. We enjoyed having them and they ran great. Also, the driver that drove us to the airport was very friendly and honest. My buddy left his wallet in the van. We contacted the company and the driver came right back and handed him his wallet. Would use A&M again and recommend them to others looking to rent scooters in Key West. read more

A&M rentals is the most unprofessional business I've ever experienced we tried to cancel one of our scooters because we did not need it anymore, and they would not say anything other than not my problem. The man at the front desk said "I knew I should not have rented to your family last night cause I knew you would have problems." Horrible. The electric car they rented to us was falling apart. Seemed quite unsafe. Very loud and appeared the front bumper was falling off. Returned and told manager about it. He basically ignored our concerns. The vehicle we had for the ride back to our condo was very nice, quiet and seemed waaayyy nicer. Not sure why they rented us the POS?? My friends and I rented an electric car for 4 hours. The battery was fully charged when we left. We drove around for 1.5 hours and suddenly 4 bars dropped off the charge screen. The max speed was 25 mph before and we could not make it above 10 mph then. I called the company and they told us to come back and return it, and call us back if it died and they would come out to get us. We headed back to them and the cart dropped down to going 1 mph with 0.5 miles left. Luckily we made it back to the shop. They did not apologize or offer any money back. We still had 40 minutes left on our rental and they didn't offer us a new car. Would not recommend at all. read more

We were charged an extra $86 when we returned the electric car because we rode with a extra person in the back literally 2 times right down the road. When we rented it we said we had 5 people but the 5th person would not be with us all the time and the "owner" said nothing about charging us extra only stated that the cops might pull you over because there's only 2 seatbelts in the back. After they agreed to honor their first quote we rented. Upon returning the scooter they went over it with a fine tooth comb and charged $89.01 for minor wear and tear. This rental place was right across from our hotel. We rented two scooters for some sightseeing on the island. $35 each for the afternoon. You have to leave a deposit of $400 in case of problems with the units. You sign a waver/release for liability, damage, injury, etc. Off we went , the units ran great and we had a great time. After parking for a few minutes we came out of the store and one of the scooters had fallen over. It did not appear to be damaged and off we went. When I returned them, you would have thought I was in a multiple scooter pileup and the wheel had fallen off. They looked it over and tapped on the calculator for a minute and announced that it would be $349.00 to cover the repairs to the plastic panels. needless to say we had a few words, they won with my pre-approved credit slip and waver. I asked why they did not offer the insurance BEFORE I left. .....a Shrug and a smile . I truly wish I could give this place less than one star. The customer service is literally the worst I have ever experienced in my life. While riding the scooter today I fell off while moving at a walking pace as I tripped over something in the road. The scooter dropped to the ground leaving a very small area of superficial scratches. No more than one foot in length and 2 cm long, completely superficial. Upon returning the scooter the people at the shop said we needed to pay for the repair to the scooter. Then proceeded to give us a bill for $350 dollars telling us he was "doing us a favor" and could charge us a lot more. I would have happily paid a reasonable amount ($50-$100) but this seemed very excessive. Particularly when the scratches were hardly visible. You had to strain your eyes to even see them. When I began to ask a few simple questions about why the cost was so large the man behind the counter began speaking at a very loud volume, which eventually turned into a scream. He also smelled like alcohol. I went outside to show him why I believed these were superficial marks at which time he became even more aggressive. They became so defensive and were so quick to raddle off a ridiculous list of repairs that needed to be done many of which didn't even apply to our use. Shouted this statement between about 30 curse words "you are going to mess up our bikes, oh I'm glad you brought me out here now I see more things that need repairing that you have to pay for". I didn't argue for long as more of his team members came to swarm me and I truly felt like they may attack me, as at this point the main cashier was in a full on scream. I told him I wouldn't sign anything and any additional things that we were charged for I would dispute with the credit card company (god I love my american express). Upon reading further reviews I discovered this is a common practice for them. THIS IS ILLEGAL if it happens to you, you need to dispute it with your credit card company and get your money back. He began screaming even more at this point people were staring from all directions. These people are abusive, unprofessional, and take advantage of unknowing tourists. DO NOT COME HERE read more

They have two locations downtown, we were taken straight to the South st location to pick up our scooters. If I could give zero stars I would but 1 is a requirement. The level of customer service by Ty was unacceptable. We rented a 4 person electric car for 3 hrs. We stopped for a complete hour and it died 2.5hrs into the 3 hr agreement. When we returned ty didn't want to work with us other then say you should have called me. Instead of offering a discount or giving an extra hour the next day he basically said it was our problem for breaking down. I have rented from A&M for years but this experience will make me go to other location especially after the manager said he didn't want to do business with me anymore. Be VERY careful when you rent scooters from this outfit. I rented 2 scooters from them In July while on vacation and they had me sign a blank credit card slip as a deposit and when we returned the scooters, they found a couple of smudges on the fender of one of the scooters and told me they would charge me $321.00 to REPLACE the panels because I had 'wrecked' the scooter. I was astounded to say the least and offered to pay them a fair and reasonable amount to buff out the smudges, under the assumption that perhaps this happened while the scooters were in my possesion. They refused, and charged my card. I am still fighting this... DO NOT USE THIS PLACE or take pictures before of every little tiny scratch and smudge. read more

As stated in multiple other reviews, this business will fraudulently attempt to charge you hundreds of dollars for "damage" when you return the scooters. They did this to me after my group decided NOT to rent scooters from them after they showed us how to use them! They invented repair prices for a scooter that literally just fell over and refused to provide a basis for cost estimates because of their "in-house garage" or even to show the repairs they had made. They also purposefully fail to offer damage waivers when you rent scooters despite other scooter places telling me later that this is a requirement. It's no mistake, it's a part of their business plan. Also, if you try to get a refund you will get charged $10 per scooter for "wasting their time." I'm not joking. Good luck finding that in the contract. Their manager is a nasty, argumentative woman who spent under 5 minutes trying to resolve our issues and spent the entire time yelling. This place might be conveniently located but go to any other rental place because they are the biggest crooks on the island. Worst Place to rent anything from. Horrible customer service. My buddies and I went to key west for a vacation, and this place ruined the entire trip. When we first entered we asked for 4 scooters, they provided us with a reasonable price and so we decided to rent. I asked them about insurance and they said you won't need it. They told us to go around the once for practice. We did that and my buddy ran into a curb. They saw what happened (there was no damage other than a scratch on the side) and called us back over. They gathered around the scooter, talked, came up to us and said "well guys its alot of damage, im going to cut you guys a deal and charge you $650". Are you serious, the scooters are not even worth that much. They could've said $2,000 it wouldn't matter because in the end they already have you're credit card pre-approved. rented two scooters on thursday for two days. we asked if we could bring them back sunday morning when they opened and alex said sure no problem, we open at 8. we paid in full and left. we returned the scooters at 8 sunday morning and the guy said we owed $43. i told him we already paid in full and asked what the additional charge was for and he said it was for extended rental time. i told him alex told us we could bring them back at 8 sunday morning. he said well there is nothing written down so you owe $43. he called alex to come down. we waited what seemed like 45 minutes for alex to get there and explained it to him and he said no he didn't say that then just walked away and started smoking a cigarette and acted like we weren't even there. we explained that we weren't informed of any additional charges if we brought them back sunday morning at 8 and he said well you should have read our contract. we continued to try and work this out with the other guy there and he just kept saying we owed $43. after a few minutes alex walked back over and looked at the paperwork and said he told us that we could bring them back on sunday because he thought the day he rented them to us was friday and not thursday. i told him it wasn't my fault he didn't know what day it was and it was not fair to penalize us for his mistake. he just walked away and the other guy said again that we owed $43. we could tell this was going nowhere so we just paid the $43 and got our credit card slip back for the deposit and a copy of the contract saying we paid in full............ i filed a complaint with the better business bureau but since they are not members i have not heard a word. do yourself a favor and pay a few dollars more and go somewhere else for your rental needs. these guys are not very customer friendly and seem to be dishonest when the opportunity presents itself. read more
