If you expect perfect, right off the showroom floor every time, you will be disappointed. I have purchased lots of things from them over the years. Sometimes they didn't work or were damage, and sometimes I got a terrific deal. You are taking a risk when you buy but there are some steps that will reduce your risk and improve your satisfaction. 1. Adjust your expectation. This is surplus or returned merchandise, not storeroom quality. 2. If you are uncomfortable with the risk then go to the warehouse on Tuesday and review the items in person. Plus checking out all the stuff is just plain fun. 3. look at ALL the pictures provided and really read the description provide. 4. Stay away from items with electronic parts. Electronic parts are notorious for breaking. Overall, I would recommend A&W surplus. you can get some really neat stuff at good prices. I particularly like purchasing tools and then reselling them. If you enjoy selling at yard sales or flee markets, the bulk crates can give lots of items that will move. Think of it as a treasure hunt! Best of luck read more

Both these had broken and missing pieces. And one flat out didnt work.. 4th was a kid playground missing parts as well labeled new I reached out to them they offered to put up for auction and give me what they sell for. My apologies to the outside workers, if I could give five stars for them, I would because they are absolutely amazing. However, for the back office and I'm referring to Ana, she is so rude and she tries to justify everything with what they have so-called in writing. I purchased items that were said new in the box when in fact, they had been repackaged resealed re-taped and described as new. Another instance I purchased what was considered "factory sealed "Jbl speakers and I purchased two of them and those items were counterfeit! You can peel the stickers off of the speaker, when trying to Bluetooth it was in a foreign language, and it did not even come up the correct profile in my Bluetooth. So I reached out to Jbl/Harden and they confirmed that it was counterfeit. I reached back out to the auction, specifically Anna and one of the other office managers and he told me it looked as if the speakers were legit and he knew damn well they were not. They refused to refund me and all they wanted to do was give me a credit. At that time, I did not want credit. I want it either the factory sealed item I paid for or I want my cashback. So the next recourse for that incident is to take them to civil court and sue them for fraud. They get a percentage of whatever is sold so they had over 30 speakers that they sold to bitters and I have proof of that that I'm going to take to court and this was even after I told them that they were fraudulent. Most recently I bid on an item and that item was not in the box when I had received it. It was something totally different not even the same description. Ana told me an email communication and verbal communication that I should've looked in the box before I bid on it. So what she's pretty much saying is if I wanted to bid on something at the auction I can come and open up every box in that warehouse to see if it is the exact same item that I want to bid on. I explained to her that I probably received something that someone else had bid for and pay good money and I just want the item that I paid for, but she refused and then once I told her that she was rude and that I was going to take her to court of course she blocked me permanently however that's fine because there's a big surprise coming. I am not the only customer with these complaints and if no one says anything or no one complains or challenges them then they will continue to do this. They take those tags and they put them on those boxes and obviously it's a mistake that they've made. I've also purchased an item that said 12 items in the box and when I received the box, the box was marked with 10 luckily for me this nice gentleman that was helping me went back inside of the building because he knew two were missing now think about it if I'm bidding on 12 and on the outside of the box, it says 10 or in the box who took the other two out and who marked 10 on the box, this place needs to be audited for stolen items which they have in their building and they need to be audited for counterfeit items. I've had some good experiences in the past, but things have gone downhill. First, they don't have many options these days for auction items. Next, I have bought things from them online, but the wrong item was in the box when I picked it up. Their only response was that I should have came onsite to review the item before purchase. However, nowhere on their website is it stated that there is an opportunity to come onsite to review items. I informed them of this, but they did not care. Recently I also purchased another item, and it had an Apple Air Tag in it. Now I don't know if it was stolen (air tag placed by a victim), or who my be tracking me and know where I live (air tag placed by a potential criminal). I reached out to them with this concern, but did not get a response. Most recently I tried to schedule a pickup, but their were no time slots available. Their site states that you are supposed to schedule your pickup appointment prior to the auction or the day off. But allowing people to schedule pickups prior for items they don't win is what fills up all the appointment slots with people who don't win items. It is a bad practice. I called and asked them if I could schedule an appointment, however their only answer was for me to was their appointment availability online in hopes that an appointment becomes available. This is not acceptable either because they charge you extra to ship items if you don't make an appointment to pick it up. I did check back, and the only availability was an unideal appointment. I had no choice but to grab this appointment ASAP. I checked back an hour later, and a better appointment became available. I tried to take that appointment instead, but they would not allow me to. They said this was because my invoice was tied to my appointment. This is untrue, because my invoice was already paid separately. All then sent out regarding the appointment was an email confirmation. It seems they are unwilling to take simple efforts to help customers, thus they must not care much about customer retention, which you think would help them generate more profit with competitive bidding. Some simple system and process changes could go a long way to improve their business, but there does not seem to be a willingness to improve. There are better auction sites around. read more

Scam watch out If I can leave zero stars, I would all the items they post pictures of are Fake from online the second and third picture is usually what you're buying. After I complained about it, they told me I should've came and looked at it I told them I did and it was in good shape. The problem is, the workers when they're taking it out to the car, they break it because they are careless with the items and then they harass you for a tip. After us making a complaint regarding broken items that the workers broke they blocked us entirely. Save your money and buy it from the store you're going to end up paying the same amount they add on tax and also a buyers premium of 15%. Not only is this place crooked, but they are very good at it. They sell old, dated food items, they sell broken items that are listed as "new", they sell boxes that are actually missing the whole item that is supposed to be in there, they sell "new" items that have road rash and destroyed... All of this is supposed to be covered by "did you come for pre-inspection on Tuesday?". I call BS. This has to be illegal, especially the food items. Spare yourself a lot of grief and NEVER EVER buy open box items unless you have physically inspected it first. I own multiple items waiting for them to come back to buy just for a part that was missing from my open box purchase. I tried thr manufacturers but they are all discontinued items so it is our loss. At least they were able to send me assembly instructions that were missing from a tv stand we got. Go through the catalog and add items you like before bidding. Sometimes the same item appears several times in a catalog. Other than that we love the place. Lots of discontinued items in great condition at great prices. The staff is not big on PR so don't expect a smiley face sticker or, "Please come again!". The young guys helping are respectful and helpful. read more

If there's a problem with your registration they expect an email and believe you are just waiting for their email back even though they have a phone number to contact you. I've been buying from here off and on since 2016, and started buying almost every week about a year ago. So, I've got a bit of experience with this place. First of all, it's an as-is auction house. There is plenty of time to preview items in person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Buying anything without going to see it in person is a risk. And, contrary to others' complaints, I've never had an issue asking to see what's in a pallet below the surface. I've gotten stuck with my share of expired or damaged items, but every time I've been burned was because I didn't go look. I also a reseller, and feel like I've figured out what to look for when buying certain categories from them. Just like going to Goodwill or Salvation Army - stuff is being sold here cheap for a reason. Assume the worst. I read the negative reviews before I started going here, and kept the warnings in mind. Really, I think people just have too high an expectation and don't realize they're buying surplus and salvage items. I'm docking one star because I've had a couple of issues with the workers not always giving me all of my stuff. I had a terrible experience. I purchased a ryobi drill saw combo kit. Battery was missing. The over worked employee who was helping me said it was too much work for him to go back in the warehouse and find me a battery. After a few minutes of my arguing he finally decided to go find me a battery. He brought the wrong batter out it looke like it was heavily used and was broken. I sent him back in. To did me the correct one. After 25 minutes he returned with the correct one. I bought a few boxes of Halloween costumes. The picture that of the costume lot showed nothing but complete costumes packaged in original bag with product cardboard label. The box I received had a few complete costumes and the rest were mixed, damaged, loose with no packaging. They had an odor of urine and large amounts of rat poop were found inside the box. Trash.... I also purchased a pallet of furniture including lawn chairs, a dinner table, and patio chair. In the picture it seemed as of the table was a complete table. When the worker brought it to my vehicle I saw that 1/3 of it was missing (broken). The patio chair's fabric was torn all the way. I ended up leaving the pallet there. After arguing with the RUDE owner Wayne i got his approval on leaving the furniture there so some other sap can repurchase it. BOTTOM line.. This company is sneaky and untrustworthy. The photos are meant to deceive customers in thinking they are purchasing a usable and complete product. Then when the customer realizes they bought a pile of trash Wayne throws the look at my terms and agreements . This place can be hit or very miss. Just cause a description says "on" doesnt mean items work. Odds are your boxed item MAYBE damaged, possibly broken, or missing pieces. I say "MAYBE" cause this isnt 100% of the time (although it is a high percentage). The packaging will certainly look different and misleading from the images you see online. Theres certain things i will NEVER buy from here. Pallets are put together with eye catching items on the top (which probably dont work) and outdated, old, broken or useless products below. AWS will say preview is mandatory although I've read during that preview you cant even touch anything... so what's the point of that? These guys are not here for customer service and or satisfaction lol. It's a business that cares about its bottomline. In the end you purchase at YOUR OWN RISK! Things can be cheap yes, but you HAVE to keep your buying emotions in check for the above reasons. Also... theres a buyer's premium!! So your item will cost a little more at the end. My last premium was $10. I've had both broken items before and working items. We would never recommend this place to shop for anything mechanical, mostly if you cannot see the products, open up boxes, and actually test them before bidding. We found that half our order was noted as "working condition" stated on the online auction which really meant that if you plug it in, it turned on but did not work. The other half was repackaged as "new in box" but with missing pieces or functions that did not allow us to resale or fix. Overall, avoid anything mechanical, or bulk, and don't believe what they write on their site. Even color description was off for some of the products. Actually, I'd avoid them overall. read more

My first time buying from this auction and it's been disastrous. They post pictures and description of the items as either new and in box or otherwise. I purchased a shelving system site unseen based on the description as "new in box" and a picture of a portion of the box without damage. Went to pick up items and received a broken box with shelving strewn on top of the box. I stated that it clearly is not new nor was it in a box. Argued for an hour about their policy and descriptions. This product fit the description as "shelf pull" which is defined as a damaged item and unknown condition. After an hour and 4 different employees I received a verbal agreement to refund the item and a note that my account is "blocked". Just a warning to look at what you bid on and don't trust their advertising. I bought artificial turf that they listed as resale value $89. There is an upgraded version for $89 but the one I received is new for $21 at Home Depot. I paid about $30. That is my fault and I blame myself for that but I do not agree that I should be canceled for the misrepresented shelving system. Poor customer service. read more

It's all pretty deceiving. They use stock photos and close up of the boxes of the actual items. They make you think there's nothing wrong with the item by saying things like "turns on" (yeah. It turns on but doesn't work cause it's missing parts), making sure any markings that show it's broken are not visible in the picture, making sure you can't tell by the picture there is pieces missing. So you put in a bid, thinking they're an honest auction site, then you're screwed. Stuck with an item that doesn't work. Sure.. they'll offer to resell it for you, but don't expect anything else. Stay far away from this place unless you want to get stuck with a bunch of useless junk. If you go to the better business website. They're registered as A&W surplus & Salvage. When I went to examine that followed closely telling don't touch this or that, or you can't go there. Two week in a row we got screwed. They say there are two new couches in boxes, then you get there and there is one. Then they don't refund you for the missing couch. The owner is a real "tool", walks off when you asked him for the refund and says "you should have came and looked." This week they advertised a new pressure washer. The website will say to come and view the items before you bid, but there is no way to see the things that are missing because the garbage is piled up and a person has no clue what is there and what isn't. Very poor customer service and quality control. We've been customers for over a year now spending thousands of dollars. Once in awhile we'll buy products from them, which we sometimes overlook, or just fix it ourselves, purchase missing hardware from our local hardware store. We finally have had enough of these outcomes and decided to complain for the very first time. When you read each lot listing you really have to pay attention to their lingo. When a lot says, "New on and working", the product will work. When a lot says, "New open box on and working", means product could have missing parts, but not always, and works". Here's another example; When a lot says, HOOVER COMMERCIAL LIGHTWEIGHT BACKPACK VACUUM, C2401, BLACK $479.99. There's nothing saying if it works or not. Also, each and every product has a "Retail Price" at the end of that listing. That price comes from out of the sky. We research each and every lot we're bidding on by simply copy and paste the title of the listing into the browser, or just choose search google. Now, I want you to try it for yourself. Highlight the title listing without the price. Right click, and you'll see, search google for ( what you've just highlighted) and you'll see numerous like products and related. What you wont see is the $479.99 anywhere. The prices will always be lower. Look for yourselves. Meaning, A & W always list their damaged products at least $100. over the actual retail price making it look like you're getting a super deal of Amazon return products. They never say anything about Amazon, which they don't have too. So, back to the point! When we called and made mention of our alarming discovery we were challenged with rude behavior from the second person, the first was respectful. We noticed we were not getting anywhere we mentioned The BBB and instantly we were informed that our account was being blocked, and it was. Then the line went dead. I called back and the second person (big blonde lady) told us that we needed to email them a letter stating that we would no longer threaten them with The BBB then they would unblock our acct. I told her that we spend thousands with them and this is how you treat us. She stated that it didn't matter if were ten dollars or thousands the outcome is still the same. I said, "you've got to be f*&%$#n kidding me? And she canceled the call! And that sealed the deal for us. Now, we'll be visiting The BBB in person on Monday 04-19-21. beware when you buy they are  very deceptive !!!!! they tell you that you are buying new in the box and in fact what you are getting is new to them in the box. These are return items that may or may not work. They have been cleaned and put back into boxes to make them look new and taped. If you are planning on buying anything from them, even if it says new in the box, have them remove it from the box. They tell you to preview, preview everything, new in the box, used in the box, out of the box. Make sure everything works, they will not refund anything. They will tell you if its new in the box, they cant open it....Yes they can and if I buy anything else there ever, they will open the box. Deceptive, crooked business practices... read more

I have purchased multiple items through this auction business and have never had an issue. This last time I went to pick up my order and list of merchandise that was on the invoice and arrived home to have the wrong items. I sent out a message to notify A & W Surplus of the error and they responded back with "Yelp ! Next time in the future you need to check your items before you leave". They wanted me to go back to talk to "Memo" to see if my correct order is still available. Mind you I live over 30 minutes away and they expect me to go back before they closed to see if they have the item. This is not the way you accommodate customers in this situation. The boss was also aware of the situation and did nothing to satisfy nor make the outcome better. read more
