I LOVE bookstores and A Book For All Seasons was such a pleasant discovery during my visit to Leavenworth. It's always special to find a great independent bookstore and this fits the page! There was a great selection across all genres from new releases, kids, young adult, mystery, romance, and more plus fun gifts, cards, puzzles, etc. that made browsing even better. The staff was friendly, the vibe was cozy, and prices were in line with what you would expect from a quality independent shop. My only "complaint" was that the bookstore hosted a local author signing the night before and while they had the third book in stock (signed!), they were sold out of the first in the series, which I would have bought had it been in stock. I love books, reading up to 75 a year so a library is this girl's best friend. However, I like to support local bookstores as well so had to stop by A Book For All Seasons while in town. First off, I found out about the town of Leavenworth because of a Debbie Macomber book, When Christmas Comes and secondly I wanted to see if I could take a peek at some of the 6 themed rooms (Innsbrucker Inn) they offered right above the bookstore. I had a wonderful discussion with the owner's son about the book that brought me to this town - http://aroundthebayandaway.blogspot.com/2017/01/leavenworth-washington.html and was told about another author Sheila Roberts who had also written books with Leavenworth as their setting under Icicle Falls. Although it was not autographed as originally thought, it just seemed fitting that I get the combo Debbie Macomber/Sheila Roberts book Wedding Dreams where Roberts even featured owner Pat as a character in the story itself. I did get a peek at two of the rooms (Sherlock Room and the Wine Suite) the next day when it was vacant and the literary themed room is so perfectly quaint for a book lover like myself that if I didn't already have a room, I would have immediately checked in that night. read more

I agreed with Carrie H. It's a very small store. There is a good selection of items, and I thought that the prices were very decent too. My friends picked up some excellent gifts for their families and it's directly connected with the Starbucks, so say what you will. It was nice though to be able to use the bathroom before heading out on our trek through Leavenworth. This bookstore doesn't really stand out though. Honestly, not much does in Leavenworth unless it's Oktoberfest. Going during "off-season" is just not that impressive. It's a Bavarian themed town so that's about it. Just regular shops with a Bavarian shell. Nothing special. read more

Ok, I will start out saying I have an extreme penchant for...rather an addiction to, bookstores of all kinds. The entire 3+ hour drive from Spokane to Leavenworth consisted of me fantasizing about the books I was going to find at this store, my favorite store in the whole town of Leavenworth. I NEVER leave this bookstore empty-handed, and tonight was no exception. Thank goodness they are open until 7pm...we parked at our hotel and I made a beeline for this store! I can always find new non-fiction and fiction books here...the selection of books is outstanding, considering it is a smaller bookstore. I have even found books here that are not available in Spokane! Plus, they have regional outdoor books (my favorites!) The best part is that it's independent and locally-owned. I could browse this store for hours, but I settled on a new fiction book to dive into during our downtime in Leavenworth. I can't say enough good things about this cute little bookstore. They have more than just books, they have cute gift ideas. It is very organized and clean, friendly and inviting. What I really like is how they display books. Stop it. You're just too cute. Not only are you nestled in Bavarian village in the mountains of Washington on the second floor of a building overlooking the main street, but you're also chock full of treasures like used books, witty cards and clever coloring books. We left the shop coo-ing at the overwhelming amount of charm that oozed around every corner of the business. The cherry on top was the extra-friendly lady working the front desk during our visit. We ended up strolling out with a used hardback book for $8 (that is on the topsellers list as we speak!), card and another topseller book from the topseller wall. Had it not been closing time, I could have spent a solid hour weaving my way through each room and walking out with a hefty stack of books. Horrible customer service. Considering Covid has hit the service industry hard and this is a tourist town. Yikes. I was the only person there on Tuesday around 1pm. There were 5 employees there and I was the only customer. I was there for about a total of 15 minutes and didn't get one single hello, how are you? or can I help you. To be fair they treated the other two customers that came in later the same way so at least it wasn't just me. I only got acknowledged when I bought something. It is a cute bookstore though. They also sell used books and there is a pretty good selection considering the size of the store. I also got the first 2 books in a mystery series that takes place in Leavenworth. My kids and I love this bookstore! As we were staying upstairs in the Innsbrucker Inn, we got a small discount for books and items in this store. I wasn't expecting to buy anything, nor was I really needing anything, but my kids and I found SO many things we loved here, we couldn't resist! (Note: now that Borders has closed everywhere, there aren't many bookstores near us, and we miss them! We usually frequent the library - a lot). This store is not huge, but they have a better-than-decent selection of fiction, classics, travel, cooking, pets, self-help and spirituality books. They have all the best sellers. They have the coolest bookmarks and literary-themed items. They also have some fun toys for kids and a small stationery and clothing area (we priced a few shirts for my teen kid, but they were quite expensive. Like, VERY expensive). Still, she found a classic novel for $3, and I found my hard-to-shop-for father a beautiful Norman Rockwell book for fathers, for Father's Day (he'll love it!). New books out front and a small selection of used books in the back. What makes any small bookstore special is the people behind the counter. We were greeted right away and asked if we needed help finding anything. When we said we were just wandering through, we were left alone to do just that. This is a little book store, in the same vein as other independent book stores in a picturesque village. It's small, the staff are a little eccentric seeming (but nice and friendly) and the range of books is okay. The store isn't half the size of a Chapters/Indigo stock room so there's no way A Book For All Seasons will be able to compete with the range of books available in a book superstore. I loved it though. It was a little cramped (once again, small book store) but they seemed to make the most of their space. It's interesting they partnered up with a Starbucks for their cafe, rather than another independent coffee store. No complaint, I like my Starbucks. I definitely recommend a visit when you go to Leavenworth. And especially if you stay at their Inn! All inn customers get a discount. I used mine to it's fullest :) read more

It was not enjoyable it was freezing cold people behind the counter or frowning under their masks I'm sure of it. Great little Indy Bookstore! Mostly new books, but the selection is excellent. The children's books are some of the best I've ever found in one place. Look closely and you'll see that the rest of the store has an incredible variety - you can tell the books have been chosen with a well-seasoned, if not slightly eclectic eye. Everywhere you look there is something - book or non-book (I've found a few gifts in here too) - you're likely to find something for everyone here. It's a fun place for bibliophiles to browse! Back in the corner, near Starbucks, is a corner filled with used books, and I always find something here - good prices. The categories are well laid out and they also have a good regional/history section. The staff is always very friendly and helpful and to me, that's one reason why I go to Independent booksellers - the money stays in the community, I support a local business, and in turn, I get good service and a great store to roam around in! This store has a book for everyone. Every time I'm on the area I browse through all the isles. I do wish they had a bigger area to sit and read but there is a coffee shop nearby that I like to sit outside (in the summer) and read my newest selections. Can't decide? There are only a handful of shops in Leavenworth that have really made it for several years. Hat shop/wood shop, Leavenworth pizza company, sandy's, etc. People forget even popular places like the cheese monger have only been here for 13 or 14 years. Book for all seasons is one of those that stood the test of time as well. Books for all ages, all types of stories, and a fairly good sized international section as well. Good place for kids, and the connected coffee shop really creates a warm atmosphere for the store, especially in winter. Nice and helpful staff, and very decent prices. They also have a small inn above the store. Worth stopping in to slow down and relax, and find a good book for the patio pubs in the summer, or by the fireplace in the winter. read more

I love this little store. Mega bookstores are handy but there is nothing like a small book store. So handy when vacationing and sometimes I am forced out of my normal book section because of the smaller variety. I have always enjoyed my new finds. I have a fond memory of this store too...
