This time I went to see 44, the Obama musical. Much of my previous review holds true. The bar is downstairs. The drinks are watery and gimmicky, but they get the job done. There isn't a bad seat in the house, the acoustics are good, though as I said before, if you sit too close to the stage, you might cheat yourself out of views. And just like before, the seats are cramped, uncomfortable, and covered in stains and hair. But I enjoyed the show and the "ick" factor wouldn't keep me from seeing shows here over and over.

I saw Becoming Eve at the Abrons Arts Center yesterday, and I'm so glad I know about the theater…read morenow. The Abrons Arts Center is part of the Henry Street Settlement, which has an amazing history. The settlement was started by Lillian Wald in 1895 to help care for the poorest residents of the Lower East Side. In 1915, the Lewisohn sisters opened the Neighborhood Playhouse. Many of its earliest productions were in Yiddish, because Lillian Wald believed both that the arts were essential to wellbeing and that immigrant cultures and languages should be celebrated. The theater has been putting on important, boundary-pushing productions for decades. It was renovated in the 1990s and is still beautiful today. The theater isn't large, which makes productions feel intimate. And they continue to support artists whose work might not find support at more traditional theaters. I'm so glad that Becoming Eve found a home at the Abrons Arts Center. It was supposed to be produced last year at a different theater, but the landlord objected to the production and rejected the show. But the play being put on here may have been a blessing. It felt special to see this play, based on the memoir of Abby Stein in this space. The play was fantastic. Well-acted and moving. I think it might have been the best play I saw over my weekend in the City (I saw three, the other two on Broadway). I have tickets to see another play at the Abrons in June, and I'm more excited than ever, because this first experience was so wonderful. The Abrons is a gem.

Approached the Box Office and was handed my Bluetooth headphones. No snacks needed. No candy needed. No beverages needed. As I enter the cinema, an array of beige candles are glowing. The room temperature is comfortable. After a short period, our host introduces the house rules and film of the evening. The lights are lowered and the screening begins.

I would definitely recommend getting the "luxury" lounger as they're pretty much out of the sun a majority of the time. I do wish the pillows covered more of the seat for optimal cozy vibes. The food is pretty much your standard cinema food but maybe a tiny bit more elevated. I got a hamburger with some chips and my partner got a pizza (his pizza was better imo). Drinks are also pretty standard, I had an aperol spritz and he had wine. I will say, however, the headphones are great. I could barely hear the bustling life that is New York below us and the movie quality was pretty good - minus one section that seemed to be glitched out but it was so small your brain fades it out. Id say to check it out if your favorite movie is playing (like mine was!) as it makes a very cute date night be it solo or with someone else.

Buy your ticket either online or at the door - my friend tried to buy our tix a few weeks ago when she was in town and they wouldn't let her. We dropped by earlier in the afternoon yesterday too and they still weren't selling them. Golden Girls is one of my FAVORITE shows so this show was awesome. Fun fact: the actors who play Sophia and Dorothy are married! (Now THAT'S weird to think about lol....) Also, Rose and Sophia are played by the same guy, which I didn't notice at first. I loved how they occasionally broke the fourth wall too (broke character). The show was hilarious and not bad for tickets either, about $32 for a 70 minute show. They do different shows all the time too - this was the last day they were doing the Christmas episode, I believe - and so I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the city.

Basically ruined the entire night. Loved the vibe but yea if you need DVDs and for an important event, the players will be dusty and staff will try to blame it on you. Super friendly but don't rely on them.

The Few at Rattlestick…read more Our first visit to New York and we had pre-booked to see The Few. Great little hidden theatre, but less than ten minutes walk from 14st station on the 123 line. We had unwittingly booked the front row, thinking this was smart. But would have definitely got stiff necks from there. But when they shut the doors (no late admissions - which is just how it should be), the friendly staff asked if we would like the vacant seats on the third row aisle. Brilliant - probably the best seats in the house. Mind you, no seat is bad in here. Very comfortable and a great view of the stage. The Few was a great play. So glad we saw it. Very impressed with the standard of everything to do with this production . Every detail was spot on - sound, lighting, set. Nothing was short of excellent. And the acting was flawless. Three actors of a very high standard made the characters totally believable. Would loved to have had the chance to chat to them, especially the guy playing the nineteen-year-old, just to see what he was really like in real life compared with the character he played. We have seen two brilliant Broadway shows this trip, including Of Mice and Men (Chris O'Dowd is so much more than the IT Crowd), but this Rattlestick production was easily up there with them. It is propped open tonight as the fresh spring air blows up the set of stairs that dominate my gaze. As I climb my heart beats a little faster as the sounds of chitter-chatter get louder. A night at the theatre to awaken my senses is just what the doctor ordered, and nothing cures my ills better then the New York City Off-Broadway scene. It's dark and cold, but filled with smiling faces and warm hellos. It's like your neighborhood bar in all it's glory and tonight just like every night I don't know what that sip of drink will do to my sanity. I settle into my soft plush red seat, and my body sinks back in time. On the surface it might seem old, tattered, and frayed. But more importantly when you break the surface that is Rattlestick, nothing is different from what I'm watching tonight and what one might have seen here over 15 years ago. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has always been committed to the development and production of innovative new plays while continuing to this day to foster some of the most important new voices in American Theatre. One of those spaces in New York that a true downtown theatre lover breathes in for what it is worth. From awkwardly using the bathroom on stage during intermission, to bits of paint falling from the ceiling it still lives in a time where you can say "This Is New York Theatre" and this just might be a place where "Dreams Do Come True." It's a place where 'Wright' can do no wrong, where 'Grimm' will make you laugh till you cry, and where 'Rapp' unwraps his wrath. It is the place to fall in love with theatre allover again! Rattlestick Playwrights Theater: A reminder of what I love about New York Off-Broadway theatre. One of the most recognized but unrecognizable faces in the downtown theatre scene for over 15 years.

They were so good, I became a fan of Emmet Smith and Daniel Fredrick. The way they portrayed their characters perfectly. Tom even did an amazing job. It felt complete watching him in movies and now seeing him in perform in person. It was perfect. The whole production was amazing. Beside the production, the theatre has no bad spots. Despite me sitting near the back in the middle section, i still was able to see the whole play and Tom. Not clearly, but good enough. I even love that the production included the audience in pieces of the show. Ovetall, i HIGHLY recommend visiting Lyric Theatre to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child even when Tom Felton isnt in the show. Everyone did such an amazing job and the theatre did such a great job keeping us on our toes. Only complaint is intermission time is a bit short. I purchased one theatre ticket for an extortionate price $150.00 "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" for a August Sunday matinee. Seating is laid out across three levels: Orchestra (raked view/ sloped), the Dress Circle aka mezzanine (stadium style), and the Balcony (accessible by stairs; no elevator access and steep theater rake view). It contains 1,622 seats total and is operated by ATG Entertainment. From my seat, I had a full scale perspective view as I was equipped with my prescription eye glasses for distance. It was sufficient leg room. I always have a penchant to purchase my ticket in-person at the Box Office and there are no frivolous surcharge or additional fees. I was able to obtain a flyer advertising "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," Broadway play. All bags will be inspected upon arrival which I have grown very accustomed due to a prior employer. All patrons are subject to enter a metal detector for safety and security like courthouses. There is no traditional stage curtain, but the show did start and end on time. The theatre marquee signage discreetly displays Lyric Theatre in whimsical celestial moon and stars. The acoustic was very good quality overall as the spatial sound to ensure balanced audio distribution across the Orchestra, Dress Circle, and Balcony levels to project clear vocal delivery with clarity. Lyric Theatre has been fully redesigned specifically for the production of "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child," Broadway play. Yes, there is fire, small water tank, hidden rigging for magic duels, and Dementors float hovering over the audience, trapdoors for character swaps, characters and stage hand in dark clothing swirling in long dark robes transition moving props and set design, hidden rigging, across the stage in darkness. I have a great admiration for the effects for the Time Turner Effect use of projection mapping, precise lighting, and audio-visual ripples to make objects look like they are floating while warping the room. WOW! The stage was renovated to custom built a rotating turntable which is not as famous as Richard Rodgers Theatre for "Hamilton," the Broadway musical. The theatre ceiling does not have the standard circular dome painted mural or lighting chandelier unlike most NYC Broadway theatres from my seat perspective. The ceiling and balcony facade is equipped with projected background lighting for aesthetically pleasing interiors. How did the special effects crew make all this happen? The lobby contains the iconic red British telephone booth. The lobby contains the Company cast names and standby for any lead actors' scheduled absence. The lobby ceiling contains a gargantuan oval mural of whimsical celestial sun, stars and moon in ornate with lighting. I entered the theatre half hour early and was able to utilized the facility which were abundant and functioning. The hand dryer was very weak as it is not a Dyson brand. After being settled in my seat half hour in the show, I was deeply freezing from the brutal artic cold air conditioning which I did have a sweater as defense. The gift shop features my default Harry Potter items: chocolate frogs and jelly beans. I purchased from ATG Lyric Theatre's website and the theatre staff was very helpful to assist which cost less than the gift shop extortionate price and further beneficial, my order was delivered to my seat pre-show. Every seat back contains a QR code enabling patrons to purchase gift items, themed drinks, Harry Potter snacks, or souvenirs which can be delivered directly to your seat pre-show or during intermission.
