Jeri is one of the most caring and knowledgeable dog groomers I know. I've had dogs all my life and she is by far the most knowledgeable and friendly groomer of them all. I will not take my Vita (Black Golden Doodle) anywhere else. Vitas hair can get long and a bit long"Ha!" and out of control. Everyone else wanted to shave her.....Nope , not Jeri. She took great time and care to cut my baby doggos hair the way it should be. She lets me know when can pick my baby up - some times it takes longer (mostly because I wait too long to bring Vita in , my bad) Vita always looks awesome when I pick her up! Ok, I have had Rescue Dogs that I have loved and Lost. I was blessed to give Bill Bixby Barker a new home . He is now 14 months old . He was 2 months old when he came into my life after a Rescue when the parent was going to throw him out into the street unless I was there with in the hour . Well, drove 90 on 90 to get him. He has been groomed and well taken care of . So , he got himself into a bunch of wet snow and mud and needed to get him all cleaned up . I happened to call A Brush and OMG!!! She did a great job on him and he is so Handsome . Believe me , not sure the background but she knew as soon as she saw him what to do . This is a 1st Class Groomer . I think she may have or does competition dog grooming . Seriously after 40 years I think this is one of the BEST grooming I have seen on any of my Doggies ! Talent and care is here at this business . Took my Cocker puppy there after a over-priced (and BAD) grooming session elsewhere. I have two dogs, one is a German Shepard, the other a Pug... right, the odd couple for sure. I take them to Brush with Greatness all the time for a good bath and to have their nails cut. My two long-haired cats need haircuts a few times of year. I have lived in three entirely different towns with these cats, so I have tried a lot of groomers. Some were too pricey, some were not very nice; calling my one cat "crazy" and saying they don't want to groom him ever again. It was frustrating. Then, we moved to Crystal Lake, and I took the cats to A Brush With Greatness. We've been there three times now, and I don't have a single bad thing to say. The staff is super professional and friendly. They are so good with the cats, and they are great at giving haircuts. The cats look spiffy! I felt writing a yelp review was in order to let everyone know what a great grooming experience I have had in my first couple of visits here. My dog Bentley is a very nervous dog in new places and this is the first place he seems to feel comfortable at; plus he always leaves looking and feeling great. I want to personally thank Jeri for being SO great with my dog Bentley. She took such great care of my pup even though a pain in the butt for peeing everywhere! I felt terrible!! Jeri was so understanding and advised me to go to the vet to get him checked out. I did, and it turns out, Bentley had bladder stones. He had to get surgery the following day. Even though he isn't too fond of his E-collar, he is doing so much better and I am so thankful for her advice. Thank you so much for taking such good care of Bentley and keeping a watchful eye! It's hard for me to write this review mostly because I had very high hopes. I usually don't write reviews, but I felt it was necessary to share my experience. I have a dog that has severe anxiety and doesn't like to stay still. I came in with my dog and explained it to a man in the front. Told him to call me if she was too much. I went home and 4 and a half hours had past. I called them and asked if my dog was doing okay. The woman, who I assume owns the business, said she was fine. She then asked me how short I wanted her cut. I knew something was up because she should have been cut already since it had been hours. I told her what we usually have done. She said it would be another 30 minutes. I went to pick up my dog and the woman cut the pad of her foot. Her foot was covered in blood (it looked dried so I knew it happened a while ago). I told her that I was about to take her to the vet for a shot so he could check it out, but the owner insisted I didn't need to go. I wish she would have called me the minute it happened, but she waited hours before telling me. She ended up paying for the vet to fix it up and she wrote a very heartfelt note to me to have me tell her how my dog was doing, but I was still really hurt that she kept my dog in her building and didn't tell me sooner. read more

First of all, the folks that run the place are nice and I have no hard feelings. Although, I have boarded my dog multiple times, being I have traveled much with my job. This was the first time at this facility. I had requested my dog be given medicine with his food and I provided it along with his food. I counted the proper amount he would need during his stay, when I picked him up there was too many which means he did not get his dosage with every meal. When I picked up my dog after his stay, he had bright red, irritated paws, open sores, cuts and knicks on the upper section of his paws and the whites of his eyes were blood shot. When I got home I noticed he had ointment on one of the roughed up areas of his rear paw. And he was limping because one of the sores was just at a bad place on the pad. I called them and was told they didn't put anything on him, but they did wash his paws. Which is a little shady to me. They mentioned it may be from what they wash the rubber mats with in the facility. Well what do they wash the mats with then? All I know is that my dogs paws did not have any redness, open sores, or knicks on any part of his body when he was dropped off. I also know things happen, but to deny that someone put ointment on his paw after I was already told they washed his paws, tells me all I need to know. He is slowly healing and it is difficult being they are in perfect licking location. I'm very disappointed but most of all sorry for him that I took him there. I should say they did offer me to bring him by for a medicated paw wash. But I would rather not torment him by bringing him to that location. read more

First of all, I am personally not the type of person who does reviews/ratings. But I have been going to Brush of Greatness for over three years. I board my dogs, with great "peace of mind". I had an older dog with Cushing Disease, so you could imagine that I was nervous about leaving her. Jeri and her husband were caring and understanding of her age and disease. Currently, I have a young Lab mix that goes to "Brush of Greatness". Borris loves playing with the other dogs. I love that the play area is supervised. I have seen the staff playing and giving affection to the dogs. I love Jeri and her husband. I would never leave my dogs anywhere but "Brush of Greatness"! We've taken my dog here multiple times for grooming, day care, and kennel stay. The staff is always super nice and compassionate. My dog is on a twice a day medication for her hypothyroid condition and they are very attentive to make sure she gets her medication at the prescribed times. My dog also LOVES coming here for daycare! She gets to play with the other dogs, but she also loves spending time with the employees (she's a golden retriever, so she's more of a people lover than she is a dog lover). She hates water and baths, but whenever she's finished with a grooming, she looks great and she's super happy. Never disappointed. I always recommend this place to friends and family. read more

I have been taking my dog here for a couple years, both for occasional daily stays and for weekly boarding. The place is excellent! They love dogs, which is not necessarily true of all places, and it shows. I have peeked in the window before walking in to pick up and spotted a staffer cradling my dog in her arms and nuzzling her - and my dog is 40 lbs. That is just one instance of genuine care I have seen. That, and the fact that my dog whines with pleasure as we get close and runs to the door tells me what I need to know. After a visit or stay my dog is always tired (thankfully), with trimmed nails, and happy. Good people, good hearts, great place. read more

This dog daycare is the bottom of the barrel kind of place. The entire facility was absolutely disgusting from what I saw. There wasn't anyone at the front desk to assist me and I waited for a good 30 minutes before walking out. I could hear one of the employees yelling nasty things at the animals where they were. There was a small window where I could see the dogs in daycare in which I saw no body playing with them and they just looked completely depressed. I won't be coming back nor refer anyone to this place. read more
