We entrusted Erin, the school's director, with our shy introverted 3-year-old two years ago, and I cannot be more happy with the growth in our daughter. Erin's teaching background is extremely apparent. She is organized and caring, and each child looks up to her. We are planning to send our child to A Child's Choice through kindergarten, without hesitation. I highly recommend this school. read more

New to the area from California. Prior to enrolling my son, I emailed multiple times. Of the 3 emails, Erin replied to only one (the third) and said to call and arrange a tour. I called. I left a message that wasn't returned. I then went about 3:30 pm one afternoon and she was quite rude, refusing to answer any questions and rushing me out of the door with instructions to call and schedule a tour. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, mostly because I believe in Montessori and I assumed maybe she was busy. Eventually I got in for a scheduled tour, six weeks later. The tour was short, Erin seemed preoccupied and wasn't helpful but I believed in Montessori and enrolled my son. He was not there very long. I gave it 3 months and realized this is a preschool not a Montessori program. Disappointing. read more

A Child's Choice Montessori School is a wonderful preschool! My family was thrilled with my child's education there. The director (Erin) is extremely knowledgeable about the Montessori teaching method and takes each student's individual education seriously. My child was more than prepared for kindergarten, which proves we made a great choice in choosing this school. My child learned not only the usual basics, but also music composers, famous artists, geography, weather, respect for nature, and practical hands-on activities such as cleaning up after themselves and washing and safely cutting fruit. Not to mention starting to read, could count beyond 100, and writing all letters by age 4! The director emphasizes self control, respect for others, independence, and self confidence. The classroom is beautiful, clean, organized and managed calmly. The students also get time outside every single day, even in the winter, which they love. Each time I visited the classroom, I was in awe over how well-behaved, calm, and respectful the students were. They all seemed to truly love being there and embraced learning! Some memorable events are hosted with the parents invited, such as a Thanksgiving lunch where the students work together to set the table, Mother's Day and Father's Day celebrations, and an end of the year choreographed Spring Show featuring challenging songs sung by the children (a bit too advanced in my opinion, but still incredibly adorable and entertaining. The director is extremely dedicated to what she does, and takes each child's education seriously. She can be intimidating and her personality isn't the "warm and fuzzy" type, and at times I wish she was a little more cheerful, friendly, and smiley towards the children. I also noticed it seems she favors the quiet, perfectly disciplined students, but nonetheless, I believe she truly cares for each child. My only other (minor) criticism is that there isn't anything outside for the children to play on- it's just a small grass yard. I can imagine this gets boring for the kids; especially those who are there for the extended hours and go outside twice per day. I know she doesn't own the property but there are tons of options for gross motor play equipment that isn't permanent. I feel bad when I see other schools with fun play equipment to play on and my child only has hoola hoops and frisbees. Again, it's a minor complaint, and in the grand scheme of things, my child's education is what's most important, and it's top notch at A Child's Choice Montessori. We loved it there and would recommend it enthusiastically to anyone! read more
