You ride in small Cessna propeller plane, which can comfortably seat two, and can squeeze a third if you must (two adults and a kid seems reasonable, and there's a coupon on the website to get your third passenger free, so this might be good for families). We did the Delaware Water Gap tour, which is around a half hour. We went in fall, and the scenery was gorgeous, with rivers and mountains covered in colorful autumn trees. You star fairly low so you can still see a lot of what's going on below. The wind tends to be a bit choppy up in the mountains, so this might not be great for those faint of heart or weak of stomach, but it also adds to the thrill. Toward the end of the flight our pilot let my girlfriend take control and fly the plane. This was a big thrill for her, and he actually let her do quite a bit in terms of guiding the plane and bring it in for a landing (but of course he took control back for the landing itself). If anyone is interested in a little mini-flight lesson, make sure they take the front seat. Overally great experience. Might seem a little pricey for a relatively short activity ($50 for 30 minutes, although I think it was a little longer), but it was totally worth it.

Here are the details: I received an email the night before my booked flight stating that, due to maintenance, the flight needed to be canceled. I didn't see the email until I got a text on the day of the flight. No problem--Kevin came to the rescue. I quickly called Heliflights and explained to Kevin that I would lose out on using a Groupon because it was set to expire the following Tuesday. In addition, I had trouble receiving an email to reset my password, which I needed in order to reschedule. Within two minutes, Kevin rebooked a flight for me. While explaining the details, he also managed to send me a confirmation email of our agreement (honoring the Groupon after the expiration date) and another email to reset my password. That's problem-solving skills and customer satisfaction all done with efficiency--and without me spending more time on the phone or computer. Thank you again, Kevin, and thank you, Heliflights!

I should have known there were going to be issues when I had a hard time booking a discovery flight. I wanted the flight on a certain date, so I wanted to book almost 3 months in advance to guarantee the date. First, I went to the location, but no one was there and a young guy who worked in the same building the place is located told me that no one was there yet, even though they were supposed to have been open over an hour earlier. When I asked him what time they usually arrived, he said around 12 or so, he called it more of a "retirement job". I finally did get to speak to someone, and they told me that they didn't book out that far and to call back a few weeks before the date that I wanted. I did get it booked but not for the date I wanted, it was a birthday gift and i didn't want to chance not getting that date, so I planned something else for that day. The date came for the flight, and it got cancelled due to winds, no problem, I'm not a meteorologist, so we rescheduled. The day of the flight they cancelled again. This time they said storms were in the area. The weather was perfect that day! Not a cloud in the sky and no bad weather for hundreds of miles. I CAN read a radar and a weather report. I asked for a refund and got the runaround for over a month. I had to send a demand for payment letter before I got any real response. I finally did get a refund, of course they claimed that the gift certificate was for me (even though it states from me to someone else), and charged me fees. But, at least I got most of my money back and know to stay away from this company! Horrible all the way around.
