DO NOT HIRE! I reached out to Justin Travis Corey in August of 2024 to have his guys load my U-haul storage boxes. He was polite and quick to schedule me. His guys arrived on time but did not have any tools to take apart the bed frames, dismount the tv's, or to take apart a desk. I had to dig out my tools after packing them to get the ball rolling. The guys were sloppy, untrained, and had no idea what they were doing. We hired College Hunks to unload our boxes and that's when mess got worse. College Hunks pointed how terrible they had packed the items. We had three TV's that were laid with the screens face down and then multiple items stacked on top of them. Our large screen TV has a crack in the LCD because of this. The placement of our dresser ripped the memory foam of our $3,000 Sealy Posture Pedic Hybrid mattress. We had two support beams of our king size bed frame with broken feet because they appeared to be just thrown in. Because we did not have all of the necessary support beams to hold the bed we couldn't sleep in our own bed for the first week in our new home. A leg on the desk was also broken, and finally our antique wooden glass cabinet has a large gash on the side of it. Easily over a thousand dollars worth of damage. I reached out to Justin Travis Corey and he apologized and I settled for a $700 just to the get the matter done with. We had our U-Haul boxes unpacked in October of 2024. It is now March of 2025 and Justin Travis Corey has only paid me $300 despite multiple promises of payments.... It has been such a pain to deal with this disorganized and unprofessional business owner. All moving companies in VA must have a $50,000 surety bond or letter of credit on file with DMV's Motor Carrier Services as required by VA law. And A Cut Above Does not have one. They were respectful and took care not to damage our items. We also showed them which items were fragile and which items couldn't be stacked and they accommodated our request. This company provided the worst service I have ever received for anything. About half an hour before the end of the two-hour booking, the movers began walking slowly and carrying light materials, rather than heavy boxes. I directed them to instead move the boxes and specifically instructed them not to go over the two-hour mark, as I did not want to pay extra. The mover snapped at me and told me that he knew how to do his job. The movers then went back and forth at a leisurely pace making single trips for lightweight area lamps that a child could carry, rather than carrying substantive boxes of import. Lo and behold the movers went over the two hour mark by a hair and charged me over $100 extra for the additional two minutes. I refused to pay the additional $100+ for two minutes of work that I timely instructed them not to undertake. The mover grew visibly angry with me in a dark, cramped, and unsecured basement elevator room to the point that I feared for my life and wellbeing as they clenched their fists and shouted at me. Things were so bad that one of the movers, who was himself angry, had to calm the other one down. I ultimately relented as I was shaken by the encounter and did not want to be hurt. It felt like a mugging. I then drove the truck several hours away and alerted the police as to the occurrence in case something bad should befall my wife and I as a result. His response was "you went with us cause we were the cheapest." So if you value your things, maybe spend a little more for a company that is insured, and check Yelp before you make a decision. TL;DR They were supposed to be there for 6 hours with an arrival window from 9-10AM. They showed up at 1:45 and worked 5 hours. We had to unpack and repack the 15' truck and after getting to our destination and unpacking the larger truck we noticed that a lot of our property had been damaged thanks to them. If you go through U-Haul's site then DO NOT PROVIDE PAYMENT CODE UNTIL YOU KNOW IT'S A GOOD JOB! This was the worst team I you could ask for and their incompetence set us back a whole day. There are so many issues with this company, but I will stick to the issues that had move out impact. The owner and his 4 man crew showed up at 1:45PM instead of his scheduled arrival time of between 9 or 10. He did notify me via text message that his crew wouldn't be there at 10 the morning of due to one member of his crew being in an accident. At first he told me they would start 1 and bring a 5 man crew than that changed to just before 2 with the original 4 man crew. When they arrived, they walked right into my home and announced, "The movers are here!". My wife told them where to prioritize and they informed her that they'll start where they see best. We had several items that weren't going, and we told each person numerous times what NOT to pack. Guess what came with us? EVERYTHING. There was a tub that we were leaving behind for my elderly mother to save on shipping. Guess what's going to have to get shipped now? This was even AFTER we told them not to pack certain things. The last hour of the teams work was spent packing a 15'truck. The packing job looked like it was done by a drunken teenager. The owner came up wanting the payment code knowing he had only worked 5 hours and the code was for 6. I relented and in hindsight regret my weakness. Finally, after we got to our location another team met up with us and unpacked both trucks. During the unpacking we saw that our property was severely damaged. I have tried to work my concerns out with U-Haul and they conveniently mention that once they payment code has been provided there's nothing they can do. I have been trying to work with the owner with little to no luck. I really wouldn't recommend using a site that provides no backing to you the customer should things go awry. I hired them to wrap, pack and move furniture at the end of April. I was by myself so I asked for 4 workers. Called them 10 days before the job to ask if they could handle a job that big and Justin confirmed he did, and I would get his best team. I texted the afternoon before to confirm the time and he confirmed. HE NEVER SHOWED UP!! He left me hanging by myself with a house full of things and the utilities shut off the next day. This was probably the worst moving company with which I've ever dealt. Two scruffy guys showed up and complained practically nonstop about how heavy my furniture was. They constantly reminded me about the amount of time I had and informed me that it included travel time. This was a shock since I had booked 3 people at my destination and was not informed that it included travel time. They mishandled furniture, scratching the walls and the furniture. Please see the pictures. Then it got worse. They packed the 15' truck inefficiently and informed us that it was full. When I saw it at the destination I realized that all of my items would have fit if they'd done it properly. My friend and I had to go back the next day to get the rest. At our destination we were told we had 40 minutes left so my friend and I had to pitch in and help unload the truck in order not to go over our time. Then they asked for two codes and I only had one. I hadn't received a text or email about the second part. Somehow it had been booked for another time but Justin had fixed it. Still a code wasn't sent. The bigger of the guys kept insisting it was in my emails like I was lying about it. He had the nerve to say to my friend " I keep telling her what to do but she ignores it". I was told that if I didn't find it I'd have to pay it all in cash which I didn't have. I finally found job information on their web site. I had booked through Uhaul so I didn't have an account and had to make on just to find it. This was all in the middle of trying to get things off the truck so they wouldn't leave. They also didn't put anything back together leaving us with heavy furniture that we can't lift. I hired these people because my friend and I are in our sixties. We shouldn't have been lifting furniture. We shouldn't have had to go back for our remaining items. We shouldn't have have been treated so disrespectfully. The day of my move, the owner, Jerry texted me and told me that the movers had a flat tire and they would be late. After hours of not hearing anything, I contacted Jerry and I was told that they would arrive no later than 12:30. When the movers didn't show up at 12:30, I ended up starting to load the truck by myself in fear that they were not showing up at all. I loaded half of the truck by the time the movers finally arrived at 1:30pm, one of the gentlemen arrived with his wife and 2 year old child and the gentleman informed me that they never had a flat tire and that they had just learned about the job 30 minutes before. At this point, Jerry would no longer answer my phone calls. The guys slowly packed the truck and I had to call Uhaul multiple times to extend the truck rental because of the delays with Clean Cut Movers. As they were loading the truck, they broke a few pieces of furniture and attempted to piece it back together so that I would not notice, however, I witnessed them do such and there was no hiding it. Upon arrival at the unload address, the movers were not professional about the unloading and damaged walls, cabinets, handrails, and various other things inside my new home on top of damaging 2 sofas and other pieces of furniture. I have tried reaching out to the company and have been unsuccessful. The one gentleman's wife and child remained the entire time and both addresses which slowed down the process even more. This is a very unprofessional company and I would recommend that Uhaul stop sponsoring this company. Took a chance on Clean Cut Movers and was overall pleased. PROS: Josh and his team did an outstanding job! They loaded the furniture in my 3bdrm Townhouse in about 45 minutes and packed the truck very well with the blankets I rented from U-Haul. Once at our new house they unloaded everything and even placed the full truck of boxes I moved the day before from the garage to the appropriate rooms. Blankets were put down to protect floors, and they took great care to not damage any items or walls through the move. They did not take breaks and worked non-stop. Justin, the owner also gave me a military discount. CONS: Appointment was for 9am, I was contacted about 9:10 am to let me know that there was some scheduling issues and that they would get to me "shortly". After a very long day of waiting, they finally arrived at 5pm. Communication could have been better, letting me know they were doing a full move before me and would not get to me until late afternoon. RECOMMENDATION: If time is on your side give them a try. These guys - just avoid them. Period. On Saturday, I had a move scheduled at 3pm. The timing was key, as I had a schedule deadline to meet where we were moving into. I spoke to the main office Saturday morning, and they confirmed we were good to go at 3pm, and confirmed the pickup address. At 3, someone called and the crew had arrived in Fairfax for a job that would take two hours, then they'd get to me - and hour away. So my 3pm (confirmed) move was now at 6, which was well past the time I had access to the facility. And SURPRISE! repeated calls and texts to their office went unanswered. I finally texted the mover and the office and called the whole thing off. These guys wasted my afternoon. This company has a pattern of calling the day of the move to claim that movers have been in an accident (what happened the day of my move) or have otherwise had car trouble, but will send another team, and then are either hours late or don't show up. In my case, I repeatedly followed-up, requesting an ETA, and in 5 1/2 hours, the company could not provide me one. They never showed up for my move. Thankfully a friend was able to help me load my Uhaul. Then, I requested and was promised a refund that never materialized. I am reporting this business' pattern of conduct to the VA Attorney General's Office and I encourage everyone else who has had a similar experience to do the same. I re-contacted them a week in advance just to make sure they got the right time and location. He assured with a text saying "we will see you Friday". So I went ahead and rented a truck for that day. Then on the same day, I called Justin in the morning of my moving day and he told me "my guys will be there shortly". They suppose to be there by 8:30-9:00 am. 30 minutes later and nobody showed up. I called Justin many times after that. In the beginning it was ringing then goes to the voice mail. After that it was straight to the mailbox as he intentionally blocked me. I left him one voice message stating that if no one shows by 10:15 I will take my business elsewhere. Things started out good with frequent contact. We are a dual military family with two small children and unfortunately when we arrived at our next assignment after 5 days of driving, we were greeted by lots of snow! Our family help was unable to make it to us to help unload the truck. We paid for 4 movers for 2 hours and they assured us they would be able to arrive despite the snow. Two movers showed up on time and ready to work and were fabulous. However the other two never showed up. I contacted the supervisor to inquire about a refund, which was a significant amount since we had to pay out of pocket. We were promised a mail order which never came, then promised a check in the mail and given multiple dates it was mailed. After over a month a phone calls and promises, we still haven't been refunded. I am filing an official complaint with moving help which is the site we booked them through. Now our calls are being blocked and we are unable to reach Justin at all. Super disappointed with how things turned out. I would absolutely not recommend. I booked these guys because of all the great reviews and the fact that they were the #1 company on movinghelp.com. However, I cannot even attest to their services because they never showed up! After 40 min of waiting, I tried calling the number, but it was going straight to voicemail. We continued to try to call and text, and I even messaged them on Facebook. Nothing. Finally, when we do get in touch with them, almost an hour after their scheduled arrival, the excuse was that the crew got stuck in traffic and would be there in 10 min. 20 min later, no one was there. We ended up having to pick up some day laborers to help us with the move, which meant our truck was not packed anywhere near professionally. This caused damage to some of our furniture.
