Do not recommend, broke items while moving and will not communicate about fixing or paying for the damages!

We had to move my mother to assisted living. Mover Dudes were recommended to us. They were very prompt both for the estimate appointment and the actual move. Everyone was super courteous. They were very attentive to our needs and flexible when we made last minute changes to what we wanted moved. We had a very fragile lawyer's cabinet with glass sides and front and it arrived in perfect shape. I felt the fee was reasonable. I would definitely hire them again. read more

I really wish that Mover Dudes had shown up in the search results when I was looking for quotes for movers to help me move from VA Beach to San Diego. All I could find were different van lines and broker options so I wasn't able to book directly. I ended up going with Colonial who outsourced the job to Mover Dudes. My experience with Colonial ended up being a pain in the ass. I don't recommend them. However, I'm thankful they sent Mover Dudes to transport my belongings. They sent two guys to pack up my belongings (1bedroom). They arrived on time and were very flexible with a lawn service taking up a large portion of the parking lot. The lead guy was super friendly and personable. The other guy opened up more at the end of the packing and also ended up being very friendly. When my items were delivered it was just one guy. He was also friendly and helpful when I was worried that my complex's trash wouldn't be picked up with his truck in the current location. He was so efficient for it only being him. He followed my instructions on where to leave things. I've unpacked just about every box- I'm impressed. Everything seems accounted for and nothing aside from a lamp shade has been damaged. The lamp shade is easy to just rotate to hide the damage, not a big deal. I'm confident that my belongings wouldn't have arrived in the same great condition if I had packed them myself. I will say that between the three guys there were a few COVID related precautions that I would have appreciated them taking from mask wearing to social distancing. I get it- it's hot and this is their day to day job so they are used to the risks, but I would have appreciated if they had been a little more cautious with that aspect of the job. I was very frustrated with Colonial not giving them an accurate invoice and me being required to pay for services that I didn't receive. I have to contact Colonial to get them to adjust the total before Mover Dudes will provide a refund. I wish they would have just taken care of the communication for me prior to accepting my payment. I'm waiting for a response from Colonial and am worried that the refund won't come. I hope it will. At least I don't have to shell out a bunch of cash for damaged or missing items! read more

BUYER BEWARE! I'd like to start by saying we have moved 11 times in the past 9 years and all with professional movers. I am very a-tune to the the services I should receive from a moving company. Mover Dudes start out great, they say all the correct things but in the end they flip the terms, charge you way more and damage your items without reimbursing. The packing team gets paid by the box. I unpacked boxes for days. Large boxes with 3-5 items in them. There was so much paper filing these boxes and not items. Just about ever box was this way, that is why there were so many boxes. Moving as much as we do, you can imagine we don't have tons of expensive things but I will tell you I had the best wrapped and protected paper plates you have ever seen. I unpacked wardrobe boxes that had 12-15 dress shirts in them. A wardrobe box should hold about 2.5 feet of hanging space. They busted the entire top where the dials are of my brand new dryer, tore the computer portion of our new treadmill off and just ripped the wiring harness in half, broke the corner off of a table and busted a wooden cube organizer in pieces. In the end we were charged $2000+ more than quoted. It was for the "extra packing". Most of our items were already packed from the previous move as we had only been at our last place 8 months. I opened some boxes where the packers had put already packed boxes down inside larger boxes. They have to get that box count up. We also moved 10-15 of the larger items ourself and they did not give us any credit back for those items that they did not even touch. I spoke with my move coordinator who kept saying he agreed with me but the Owners were the ones that would not budge. In my opinion I believe he was just playing the game. We received nothing but a larger than expected bill! They don't inform you of this until you are finished and the Driver/unloaders are standing there. They tell you they can't leave until the collect full payment but will handle disputes after the fact. It was an issue getting anyone to communicate with me. This company is bad news. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I couldn't be happier with this company! If you want a company with superb professionalism that follows all safety protocols for the good of their employees and your possessions, don't look anywhere else! They worked with us on pricing as our needs changed while we managed as much as we could on our own and when we had a discrepancy when we realized the amount paid at the end of the job didn't exactly match our quote. They mailed us a refund check as promised! Honest business!! Wish I could remember name of the head of the crew because I'd give him a shout-out too, his communication skills were my favorite part of the experience! This was such an easy move thanks to Mover Dudes. They moved my 2 bedroom apartment of furniture and stuff from Norfolk to Winchester in 24 hours. The two guys were very friendly and took great care not to scratch or damage anything on both ends. They placed (and moved) all my furniture to exactly where I wanted it in the new home. Mover Dudes picked up our furniture and packed many boxes of household goods. They did a fine job at that point. The problems occurred on delivery, roughly 9 months later; we were waiting on our new house construction to complete. Several furniture items were damaged, table tops, leather couch and loveseat, large screen tv missing, several packed boxes missing along with an oak couch table. One of the missing boxes contained large framed pictures we cannot replace, like our 20+ year old granddaughters portrait when they were toddlers. Sad, sad, sad. Mover Dudes "doesn't have time" to search in their warehouse to find our missing items. I do NOT recommend this company. read more

It's hard to imagine a worse experience. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. We paid for a "pack and move." Let's list all the ways this move went very poorly because we used Mover Dudes. 1) The total cost was almost DOUBLE the quote, which makes no sense at all after we spent more than an hour going room-by-room for the quote. 2) A number of pieces of nice furniture were damaged, boxes weren't labeled correctly and items were haphazardly and carelessly tossed into boxes. 3) They forgot to move a whole room in our house and seemed annoyed when I reminded them we needed the things in our utility room (things like our washer, dryer, chest freezer!). This was after TWO in-person walk throughs. 4) Furthermore, the movers LOST THE SCREWS to two sets of bunkbeds that they were taking apart and re-assembling. They are specialty screws and aren't easily replaced. After "not being able to find them" for two days, they found them and returned them. But there were still some missing. So they found some more, and returned those. THERE ARE STILL SCREWS MISSING and our bunk beds still aren't put together (which they were supposed to assemble themselves). At this point, I haven't heard anything back from them and it looks like I paid for a move and furniture was lost with the way they have treated this. I have asked Mike, my Richmond account manager, to rectify this situation. He has not. I have called Josh, who is apparently a manager (???) and asked this situation be rectified. I have not received a return phone call upon leaving a voicemail. DO NOT HIRE THEM. If you're reading this, you've probably read some good reviews too. I read those same reviews. Do yourself a favor and look for another company. read more

My biggest complaint was their arrival. They were scheduled to come between 9 and 9:30am, and didn't call that they were going to be late until 9:40. They did arrive at 10:10am and started at 10:15 moving my stuff. 3 guys showed up and moved non-stop. They were able to load up the stuff from my old place in an hour, and 2.25 hours to bring it all into the new place (they did have to carry everything up 2 flights of stairs). I was very happy with the actual moving service. They were very friendly, professional and I have not found anything broken. I was originally quoted 5 hours and it ended up being 3.25. They have a great policy that if it goes over the quoted time, you only have to pay an additional 10% of the quote, and you are only charged for the time it took if it was less. My quote was $115 an hour for 3 guys for 5 hours. If I moved during the week instead of the weekend I was told it would be $10 off an hour. They didn't deduct it but I didn't fight it because I was happy with what their service. I will definitely use these guys again. Hopefully the issue of arriving on time was just a rare occurrence that happened to just be on me. read more

Let me start by saying if you are lucky enough to get KOREY on the job then you will have a professional hard working gentleman with a awesome attitude! Korey worked quickly in the extreme heat without stopping and kept a wonderful attitude!! I CANNOT say enough good about Korey!!! I will say that "Adam" was unfair to up the price after they promised one date and didn't make that date! If Adam would listen to his clients as much as he talked around them he would make people much happier!! The employee/ employees who packed the truck deserve minus stars.. Boxes crushed, items broken, Adam makes the excuse that it was our fault! Box of trash put on truck with our lampshade inside... No lamp!! Owner of company should be proud of Korey... The guys who did the actual moving were nice and worked pretty fast. That being said, the prices for this company are outrageous. The end cost ended up being almost 3 times the original quote. For the price I could have rented the trucks myself, paid for gas, paid each mover $30 an hour (for the same amount of movers and hours) and still saved myself 1/3 of the crazy price that they ended up charging. I KNOW those hardworking movers are not making $30 an hour - in fact I'm pretty sure they make like $12 an hour and they certainly don't get any benefits. That means the company is making ridiculous profit. Also, they didn't end up telling us the cost was going up outrageously based on weight/boxes until AFTER we had said they didn't have to move any more to not inconvenience them and AFTER we treated them all to lunch and tips. If you know the costs are going to be much greater you mention that at the BEGINNING of the move, not 8-10 hours later. Do yourself a favor, go with one of the movers that charges by the hours/per person instead of these guys. read more

Between the massive down pouring rain and the follow up to finish up on a Sunday for no extra charge, we could not have been happier with our experience. We hired them to move everything from our main floor to the garage as we are having our floors refinished. Jason and Luke arrived with masks on which we appreciated and were on time, friendly and professional. We have some Asian pieces made with lacquer and they advised they should go upstairs and not in the garage as possible freezing weather could damage them. What can I say but Thank the Stars for Mover Dudes! They were Exceptional end to end. Right from the start, they were respectful, listened and asked good questions. They really viewed me as a customer and not just a sale, and that meant everything as far as how they would care for my items. Several times on the run up to moving day, I had questions such as what about that 90% chance of rain and how do I pack a thick foam mattress topper without tearing it -- they talked me through everything and never just tried to get me off the phone. Worst movers ever!!!! I have waited over a month because I wanted to get calm and get over being so mad. I hasn't helped I am still very upset with this company and their lies. There are several reasons why I am giving only 1 star. We had decided on a price after negotiations and the original cost was $400 less that the first quote. I was told that the price could go up if it took longer than the 8 hours, but I thought that would be more than enough time. It took a total of over 12 hours. Which I feel was planned because they got paid an additional $300 which was almost the original cost they wanted. Other problems were: 1. Movers were two and a half hours late. Wanted to make sure they came at 8:00 AM so they would be sure to get to Winchester to unpack before it got dark (which was around 5:30. They did not make it. Did not arrive to Winchester until 5:50.) Reason for being late was had trouble getting truck. What? The truck should have been ready for them. 2. Movers were driving from Richmond to Winchester which usually only takes 2 1/2 hours to get here it took them 4 1/2 hours. When questioned why it took so long comment was, " we had to eat lunch" - for over 2 hours?? after they were 2 1/2 hours late picking up the furniture? 3. Took the movers over 3 hours to pack up a truck when almost everything was already on a Pod ready to go. It took the packers who put my items in the pod only 1 hour. 4. Unpacked in the dark and carried only one box in at a time because they did not get here in the daylight. 5. Did not use a dolly which took them three times longer to pack and unpack. (I believe this was so they could charge for more time). 6. Did not bring my treadmill using an excuse it was too heavy. It was on my list and if they bothered to use the dolly they would have had no problem. The treadmill folded up and you can push it with the wheels so I have no idea how they could justify, but they would not move it, per my fiancé who was in Richmond. 7. Once they finally got here it took them hours to unpack my stuff. When I asked them to move faster as it was past the time we had agreed upon the reply was, " I am not a robot." 8. It was evident these boys did not have much experience as they brought in boxes and just dropped them on the floor. Then when I yelled at them for bringing in dirt (it was now raining) they said oh I guess we should put down some covers on the floor. Ya think? They then had to move the boxes dropped in the hall to get in the furniture. So that was another hour to move stuff around again. 9. I called six times while the movers were here to complain. I NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. Not the next day or days later. They had got their money and didn't care about the horrible customer service I received. 10. I still have not received any call from them about the problems. Please do not use this horrible company or you will regret it! read more

I moved with this company from WV to CA and stored with them for three months. I paid for them to pack my more fragile things like my TV. Entire service seemed to go well from pick-up until delivery. I noted multiple torn moving boxes at delivery. At my initial unpacking nothing seemed broken or misplaced from the open boxes. As I slowly unpacked the more fragile items, I noted my TV was damaged (like a box fell on it) my glass center piece was broken and my Woden chairs looked like they had been dragged across the floor. In essence my most valuable items that they packed for me were damaged. They would only refund less than $250 to me for damages because of the 60 cents per pound clause I signed during my move. Difficult lesson to learn! moral of this story is, they do NOT handle your property like professionals, either during transport or during storage. Your property will be in multiple hands and they will most likely damage something in the process. If you decide to use them, don't sign the 60 cents clause AND get additional outside insurance. read more

The movers were some bigger guys like you would expect. I couldn't get over how much they would joke and tease each other while moving everything. One of the 3 three guys was definitely not in the other's "circle of trust." They needed 2 hours longer to move me out than I was quoted and therefore wrecked so plans I had for later on. 2 weeks later I am still finding dings dents and scratches on the furniture. I'd never heard of them before and after getting some quotes I couldn't afford from other companies, I went in search of other options on Angie's List. Mover Dudes had a special and I went online and requested a quote. I got a call within 15 minutes from Mike and he walked me through the process. He was professional and a pleasure to work with. I was expecting three movers and they sent four, which helped a lot. The guys were easy going but professional and they worked quite efficiently and quickly. Everyone from the guys that physically move the stuff to the driver that drove the truck across country, to there scheduling staff we're courteous , careful, and very friendly. I got a BINDING ESTIMATE from mover Dudes, and on the date of the move, another company showed up and charged me over 3 times what the BINDING estimate was, then charged me another $3000 to move from the free 30 day storage to my new home..The company they sent was Special Ops here in Denver, my move was a total of 8.5 miles and I was charged over $5,000 and every piece of my furniture was damaged, some very badly gouged... Took them to BINDING arbitration, and the Arbitrator denied most of my claims for damages and extra $$$ it cost me for having to purchase an air matteress to sleep on and eating meals at McDonalds because we had NO way to cook, so I was awarded $1,500 for the experience, and they, Special Ops, have not paid one dime, and the PUC did revoke their permit to operate, but I will never see one dime..Mover Dudes, based in Florida is a broker,not a moving company..so Beware of using them in any way.. read more

Boxes are missing, glass plates broken, crock pot broken, furniture was filthy and bed room furniture must have gotten wet as the legs are swollen and crumbling. They do not answer the phone ...when u try to find out where your furniture is or when it will be delived. Forget about it !!Finally told me 7am. It arrived at 7:30 pm. I could say more. This is the first time I hired movers and I was nervous. But after doing some research, I chose Mover Dudes because their price is based on what is actually moved. Greg was patient with me and all my changes - additions/subtractions. They moved me from Montgomery Co. Maryland to Winchester (to a third floor apt in the drizzle). HORRIBLE, DON'T USE!! We used these guys for a move from Charles Town WV to NH. They were recommended by our realtor. The quote was either artificially low or they are truly horrendous at giving an accurate quote. After loading the truck at the house, they were supposed to pick things up from a storage unit. The truck was almost full after the house items, and Josh wanted FOUR THOUSAND, YES, $4000 MORE to transport the remaining items in storage. THIS WAS A 30% ERROR ON THE ESTIMATE WHICH WAS TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS. Rude, not willing to admit that they screwed up the estimate or lowballed. Not willing to try to work with us or try to find a solution. Take it or leave it. We left the items in WV and now have to figure out how to get our belongings up to NH. We budgeted for this move and this has added a huge amount of stress and economic hardship. We are paying for storage still and must pay additional moving expenses. We also used some packing services, first for a partial move to storage, then for the remaining items for the move up to NH. Josh told us we would save money by packing more ourselves, which we busted ourselves and packed 50% of items not in storage. He even came to the house a second time and told us we could shave off a grand or two if we kept up the pace, which we did. WE SAVED NOTHING and went $200 over the packing estimate. When I complained he told me, "Well I guess you didn't pack enough then!" This company is totally mismanaged. The three times we owed money, I called Josh and reminded him. All three times no one was aware that we had not paid yet. They are disorganized and lucky that we are honest people. As a result of this, Mover Dudes has lost my realtor's company's (large elite chain) business. The broker even contacted him and he did not seem to care one bit. One last thing...many times they have a truck, slap a Mover Dudes magnet on the side and hire outside day workers. We had a good team pack in WV, but a totally different driver who hired people off the street the morning of the unloading in NH. DO NOT USE, DO NOT USE, DO NOT USE!! read more

This was the worst packing experience ever. The lead packer, Brandon, showed up with his two year old daughter and two other female packers, one who never packed before. I should have stopped the packing right then. But I didn't and he packed while his daughter wandered around on her own. About an hour or so into the packing, he left with his daughter saying he needed a box to pack the hazardous materials that couldn't be included in the shipping. He returned almost 2 hours later without his daughter and without the box. They did not finish the packing that day and the packing he did compared to the women who wrapped all the dishes, was awful as he tossed stuff together. The next day the movers showed up almost two hours late saying they misplaced the keys to the truck. Brandon also showed up to "finish" the packing. In the process he said he bought 10 additional boxes (at $5/box) to complete the packing. In the end, he left several items unpacked and 8 boxes he did not use plus rolls of saran wrap. The only good thing I can say about the move is that the 4 movers under the leadership of Lincoln, once they arrived, salvaged the move. They did a great job packing truck and delivering the boxes, etc., that day. I have been trying through Mike Sprague, the movers certified moving consultant, and others to try and claim a refund based on the fact that one packer, reportedly the lead packer, besides being lousy, was missing 2 of the 4 hours as well as getting a refund for the extra money I paid for the boxes they did not use. You have an option at the end to not pay until you are contacted by management. I should have done that as they have been unresponsive to my requests for the refund. If you could hire just Lincoln and his three assistance who packed the truck and moved our belongings, it would have been great. Unfortunately, you cannot separate the packing from the overall move so it would be difficult for me to recommend this company for a move without a serious improvement in the packing effort. read more
