These guys are your first choice for tree work! They came when they said they would to give an estimate after a spring snowstorm downed large limbs in our yard. Their estimate was fair and by far the lowest. (One estimate we got was $3,000, and another was $1260. AFTS charged $480!) The AFTS crew showed up as scheduled, did a superb job removing literally a ton of limbs in short order and left our lawn looking like the fallen limbs had never been there. Give them an opportunity to bid on your job. You will be glad you did. read more

They did a fantastic job. Showed up on time, carefully trimmed back all the dangerous branches from our huge tree and cleaned up the yard like they were never there. Super informative too. Let us know that our tree had canker and would eventually die, but that we could keep it longer via some procedures they said we could do ourselves to save money. Highly recommend. read more

I hired these guys based on a recommendation from a trusted source to remove two aspen trees and a third smaller tree that were located between my house and a neighbor's. They were able to schedule me that week, the price was reasonable, and the crew was friendly and fast. They had to go through my neighbors garden to get at the trees, so I asked them to be mindful of her plants. They did a great job of protecting her garden and not only removed all the branches, but swept all the leaves off of my neighbors patio. My only complaint is that the owner never gave me an estimated time of arrival, but he answered promptly when I called his cell phone the day of. Similar to other reviewers, unfortunately I would not recommend Clay and his team. While he's a very nice person, he fails to follow through on commitments, fails to return phone calls, and leaves jobs incomplete. I would be happy with him as a neighbor to chat or laugh with, but will never trust his word or do business with him again. I did have the impression that he was showing his son the ropes, which might be part of the problem--but allowing his son to learn through failure is also going to lose clients! read more

We learned about A Family Tree Service through a recommendation request posted on a Facebook neighborhood page. We obtained quotes from multiple sources and their pricing was competitive. Ultimately, we decided to go with them because they are a locally owned family business that offers discounts to veterans and the elderly and because we like to support our neighbors. We hired them to remove a large stand of evergreen bushes covering almost 700 square feet. We had originally scheduled service for Monday, but due the 7 inches of snow we received, we had to reschedule. They set a date just a few days later and the bushes were gone in 1 day. The following day, the stumps were removed and ground down. Our only complaint was that the yard/stump area wasn't cleaned up as much as we had assumed it would be, but to be fair, we did not really discuss this ahead of time. We were met with nothing but friendliness and courtesy with every interaction. They completed the work in a timely manner and were flexible in rescheduling when the weather wouldn't cooperate. We would highly recommend A Family Tree Service and we will certainly be contacting them in the future for bids on additional services. A big thank you to Clay and Family!! read more

I have used them twice - once to cut a huge dead elm in front of the house and just a few days ago to cut a dead apple tree in the backyard - and both times their work was excellent. Clay sent a crew to get my tree down as promised. They were polite and efficient, on time, cleaned up the site. What I really appreciated was that I needed the stump removed by a deadline date for the landscape project start date. Clay scheduled my stump to the deadline and then a major storm delayed us all. Clay found a way to get a stump removal machine to my site and to get my stump removed without delaying my project. I appreciate his follow up and follow through. read more

The owner forgets the concept of anonimity online to prevent reprecussions from establishments angry with reviews. This is why I am not a certified yelper who is promoted by Yelp because I do not chose to realease my full name. However, they are incorrect in this being a slanderous posting. This company indeed did a bad job, I didn't just dream this up one night to wake up and write a fictional account of my conjured experience....on yelp. They were rude at nearly every turn as if they couldn't be bothered, and the management/ownership was not willing to be present at the time of my complaints. My expereince is that a manager (which was how they presented themselves) wants to be there to assess the behavior and service of their employees to avoid...exactly this. There was signifigant damage and absolute disrespect by employees. Point being, they got paid, I was still not entirely made whole. Regardless I still have the right to suggest that others not a use a company who in my case was not interested in customer service. So please refer to the original post, which is not going away. Perhaps instead of wasting time trying to change my mind about my experience you should ask some satisfied customers to post on here about their experience. That may be a better way to approach this, because your comments...are proving my point. read more

I hired them to trim up my trees for one of my rental properties and asked if they could mulch up the limbs for ground cover. They assured me that they could. They left me a huge pile of chunks and sticks that I would have to rent a wood chipper and go over again. When I called to ask what I was supposed to do with the massive pile on the driveway, Clay acted offended at my concerns and then wouldn't return my calls for over 2 weeks. When a guy finally called me back and gave me another estimate to haul it away, it was extremely expensive. They gave no option on working with me or being helpful at all. I had to rent a truck and haul 5 truck loads to the dump that cost me over $300. Not impressed, will not refer, will not being using this business again. read more

We asked to have the dead limbs in our very large, old Maple tree to be cleaned out and to remove any limbs which could cause a problem with winter coming. They answered our questions and were able to explain to us the reason certain limbs should not be removed at this time. We wanted this tree trimmed out as much as possible, but to also keep the tree healthy as much as we could. We have used this company in the past for services such as removing large cottonwoods and cleaning out limbs that had fallen from this particular maple during a severe snow storm. The group of men showing up were very polite and hard working. They cleaned the yard up around our bushes and ornaments as well as clearing off the roof of debris. We are very pleased with their work and will definitely call them in the future. read more

Not only was A Family Tree Service open on 12/31, but they had a crew at our house within 2.5 hours to fully remove the tree. The crew was friendly, quick, efficient, and did a great job of cleaning up their mess. Owner Clay Davis came out a couple days after I requested an estimate to be done a gave me the best price out of the 5 other estimates from local Tree Service Companies. The price was low, and the service prompt. However, they did not finish the job. I uncovered stumps not fully ground down or removed, and the company has still not come back to finish the job, after a year of a half of asking. It appears that "Christian values" is primarily a marketing slogan, rather than an actionable business principle. read more
