Unfortunately ThebHouse of Books & Tea would fall into the latter category. I've actually visited this bookstore three time. The first time I made a purchase, the second two times was to browse I'm hopes of purchasing and the third time was to offer my assistance volunteeringly. On my third visit I was met with hatred and prejudice and worst - judgement. It's so unfortunate given the nature of their business... selling books. I expected to find a group of creative, free thinking, intellectuals. What I discovered was a person full of hate.and emptiness. I wouldn't waste my time unless of course you are the type of individual to support this type of "thinking."

We came for the children's books, and I was pleased to see many selections I'd yet to see elsewhere. The prices are definitely higher than an online purchase, but you vote with your dollar, and this is one business I'm glad to support where I can! The general manager told me it's actually a book co-op, owned by share holders. It was very interesting to learn about! We will be frequenting this location when we are in the market for new books or just a relaxing cup of tea!

I decided to leave it, and set it back on its shelf. The owner then came over and started scolding me like I was a child for playing the music box. I apologized, but he started yelling at me and continued to follow me and my family through the store and berate us. At one point my mother put her hand slightly up and told him "we get it, we understand," and that is when he started to get aggressive, started yelling even more loudly at us, and he put his hand aggressively in my face. I did not feel safe, and I told him "we are happy to leave" and my family and I left as he continued to become more agitated. It was actually very shocking, uncomfortable, and disappointing. I would not recommend any woman shop in this store, alone or with others, and that any men who respect women not shop here either.

It's a great store, filled (although I'd call it "crammed") with kids clothing, toys, books and shoes for infants and small children. Things are sorted by size but if you're overwhelmed when you stop in, a helpful employee will ask some questions and then either take you or point you to the right area. Once you figure things out, you'll quickly realize the store is incredibly organized and remarkably clean considering the volume of clothing. Immediately as you enter are the seasonal items, on this visit. the holiday colors and outfits for babies and toddlers. Precious Seconds is a thrift store, although the prices are only slightly less than retail -- at least on some items. The toys and books are in good condition, some only slightly worn. While there are clothes for the expectant parent, including some gorgeous dresses, that isn't the focus. It's the clothes and shoes that bring them in. Everything I looked at was in almost-new condition. As do all thrift stores, this place will allow you to bring things in for store credit, and that can help toward lowering costs on clothing for which prices can rival that of adult clothes considering the short period of time they can be worn

Even better was when I mentioned to him that my children were fascinated by his use of texture, he offered to let them touch a few of his pieces! WHAT!? It felt so wrong but so right. We definitely appreciated a number of the other artists on display, and the space itself was just gorgeous but approachable. Ok. This is my new favorite store…read more I was looking for travel related gear for an extended trip that would accommodate my minimalist travel style. Hooray for The Base Camp and their phenomenally trained staff. Expectations exceeded! The people were knowledgeable, looked up information when I couldn't find the exact thing I wanted, offered to order something not in stock, but could get from their store in Denver, and then let me explore other inventory. They also made it clear I was under no obligation to buy what they ordered if I changed my mind. No deposit, no restocking fee. Nothing. Available for answering questions, the employees didn't follow me around the store like I was going to steal something (well, maybe one person did on my second visit), give unsolicited commentary on every item I picked up, or attempt to drag me to every other similar, and more expensive, item. As my trip gets closer, I'll be back here to pick up those last minute miscellany. And, because The Base Camp has things for every type of outdoor adventure, it'll be an easy stop without the big-box hassles for future trips.

This has a lot of vinyl as well, but realistically, over half of the store is devoted to being a head shop, which is the name of the game for a number of Midwest music stores these days. The guy running it is very cool and exactly the kind of guy you'd want running this, absolutely worth a visit, though it might take some driving as it is nowhere near the interstate, if you're in the area.
