Unfortunately ThebHouse of Books & Tea would fall into the latter category. I've actually visited this bookstore three time. The first time I made a purchase, the second two times was to browse I'm hopes of purchasing and the third time was to offer my assistance volunteeringly. On my third visit I was met with hatred and prejudice and worst - judgement. It's so unfortunate given the nature of their business... selling books. I expected to find a group of creative, free thinking, intellectuals. What I discovered was a person full of hate.and emptiness. I wouldn't waste my time unless of course you are the type of individual to support this type of "thinking."

We came for the children's books, and I was pleased to see many selections I'd yet to see elsewhere. The prices are definitely higher than an online purchase, but you vote with your dollar, and this is one business I'm glad to support where I can! The general manager told me it's actually a book co-op, owned by share holders. It was very interesting to learn about! We will be frequenting this location when we are in the market for new books or just a relaxing cup of tea!

This must be one of the most orderly used bookstores I've ever seen…read more There are no books stacked on the floor or overflowing the shelves or strewn about every available spot. If bookstores with overflowing inventory make you claustrophobic, and some do even for me, then Buy the Book will make it easy to enjoy the hunt for that missing book, favorite author, or hard-to-find gem. It is close to a normal store in that regard. It's still a used bookstore, with books at half price, at least for those mass market paperbacks that I saw. And that makes this a must-visit bookstore where clean lines and ease-of-access is important. Books are in all genres, albeit the groupings aren't as clearly delineated as I'm used to seeing, with a fair number of hardcover books rounding out the stock. As you walk in, and on the top of the shelves in the back are bears -- stuffed bears in multiple colors. During your browsing, you might be greeted by the resident cat, or hear the calling of the parrot (at least I think that's what it was), both of which keep the owner company and give some color and homey-ness to the clean, uncluttered, layout. The front of the store has a few odds and ends, including the cat climbing /scratching posts but it's likely only when you leave that you'll notice them.

My husband and I do mountainman fur trade recreation and this is the best store to get authentic (well authentic as new beads can be, LOL) beads for my beadwork.
