Loveeee this bookstore! Not only do the have a great selection but it's just an awesome community space. I came here on a random saturday once and there were local vendors selling their art and they have food and other special events on Sundays! Their used books are reasonably priced and you can really find some gems! I found a 1964 copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray that had a cool gnarly looking cover. The owners are so friendly too. I can be a bit shy and he welcomed me and my friend and just had a great conversation. Every reader (even non reader) should be supporting this business!

Love my Book. However, I need to get a hold of you and there's no phone number or email.... When I was in , which was a great experience, I lost one of my earrings, I believe it may be on the floor near where I took out my wallet to pay you. Can you please look its a small dangle with red stone. Thank you.

I've been following A Good Used Book on Instagram for a while, especially for their pop-ups and I'm so glad I finally checked out their physical store. They have such good selections of new and gently used books. I was happily surprised by their vintage book picks, very rare to find in other bookstores. The owners are super kind and friendly as reflected in their careful and thoughtful book curations. I love how they have almost weekly community events and partnerships. If you're not convinced to check them out yet, their discounted prices for gently used books are excellent! You'll definitely leave with more than a couple of new books! This is an excellent addition to the Echo Park Village community!

I was impressed by the exceptional service provided by the staff. They were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The store had a wide range of books. I found six classic books at an unbelievably good price. Although the books were used, they were in excellent condition, which made the purchase even more satisfying. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I will definitely be returning to this gem of a bookstore.

Love this place so much! They have a selection out front of $1 books which I got two of, and the books inside ranged (from what I saw) from $5-$25+. Nice and quiet too with no pushy staff asking a ton of questions which I really appreciate! Felt like I could take my time and browse without feeling awkward. Will definitely be back!!

Ask the Community - A Good Used Book

Do you guys buy used books?

Yes! We can generally pay up to 10-15% of what we sell for, and we can pay out with Venmo or Zelle. If you’d like store credit, we increase that total up by about 20%. If it’s just a small amount, you can bring them in Thursdays or Fridays. If it’s… Read more

Housed inside a former bank, the space already carries this grand, historic energy that sets the tone before you even start browsing. What makes this place unforgettable is how it's designed to be explored, not rushed. There are cozy spots scattered throughout where you can sit and get lost in a book, but the real magic is upstairs. It opens into a maze of rooms, each with its own personality, filled with carefully arranged books that feel more like art than inventory. At times, it genuinely feels like you've wandered into a dream. One of the highlights is the famous tunnel of books, which adds to that surreal, almost cinematic experience. Everywhere you turn, books are used as decor in the most creative ways, and it creates this quiet moment where everything else fades out. Upstairs also holds one of my favorite parts, a row of art studios featuring work from local artists. Every piece feels intentional, unique, and thoughtfully placed. Right nearby, there's a small coffee shop surrounded by beautiful artwork, making it an easy place to pause and take it all in. This isn't a quick stop kind of place. Plan to spend a few hours here, wandering, discovering, and just enjoying the atmosphere. It's one of the most iconic bookstores I've ever been to, and it absolutely lives up to the reputation.

from my experience, the last bookstore is one of those places that, if you've seen it on instagram,…read moreyou already know the one. it's definitely more of a destination than a practical bookstore you'd go to shop at. my instagram feed has seen a few cameos from friends and strangers who've visited, and after seeing it pop up a few times, a friend and i decided to stop by a little while back. that said, i wouldn't really recommend it if you're going in search of a specific book. it's less "grab a book and go" and more "wander and hope something finds you." everything feels pretty scattered, so if you are looking for something in particular, be ready to spend a good amount of time browsing. it does get unbelievably hot inside, especially when the weekend crowds pick up for photos in the iconic book tunnels, shelves, and art installations upstairs. it's definitely a unique shop, but it really leans more "experience" than "practical bookstore." it feels a bit like a bookstore where the real plot is the decor, and the books are almost supporting characters in their own store. i did find it funny how they call out shoplifters with signs outside the entrance though. i've been once, took my photos (bc duh), checked it off the list, and happily moved on.

I used the ParkSmarter app to reload my hourly fees for my car. Just a little hint if you're visiting from out of town. I didn't walk away with a purchase, because nothing truly peaked my interest. As an indie bookstore, you are offered a variety of items: cards, books, Knick knacks, magazines, and more. I think the best part of this bookstore is that they have a study area located in the back of it. Combined with the study area is a coffee shop that also sells beer. How cool is that! I was hesitant to sit at the bar since we were in a time crunch, but h would have loved to enjoy it. There were numerous patrons sitting around and having conversations and enjoying their beverages. The vibes eye very vintage yet hipster. Loved it entirely and I absolutely want to visit again !

I wish it was served in a tiny porcelain cup. Week 2 - Bought a pack of Tarot cards and laughed at Keith Morris' memoirs - highly recommended. Bought an espresso, which was still served to me in a paper cup. Week 3 - Bought a collection of Anne Sexton's poetry. When will they film a biopic about her? She's totally movie material. I didn't know Vashti Bunyan wrote a book, holy cow. Couldn't slurp my espresso because all the chairs and tables were taken by campers, so I took my $3.50 espresso and hung out at the huge parking lot next to the patio.
