The staff and trainers are personable, trustworthy, and make it very known they want you to reach your goals just as much as you do, if not more. There is always positive energy and the friendships that I made were unbeatable. The classes that are offered are also a huge benefit, despite the workouts, the group aspect brings everyone closer and the bonds are emaculate. I'll admit it: I got taken by a slick scam…read more I was looking for a gym for the next stage of rehab for a hip replacement, so, on a recommendation, I checked out Crunch. The facilities looked good and the pitch about the consultation with a coach to create a roadmap sounded like something I could cross-reference with my PT to make it even more effective, so I took advantage of the special $1 first month offer on the multi-gym membership - which I could use while visiting family out of town plus bring a guest at any time, use the extra services, yada, yada, yada - and signed up while also scheduling my coach consultation for two mornings later. Perfect, right? Not so much. "Coach" conveniently didn't show, so I got a helpful "We can reschedule" and set up another meeting several days later. "Coach" didn't show for that one, either. Now, by falling for the "We can reschedule" bit, I ended up being past the time where I could cancel without paying the annual fee and the second month's payment. Additionally, my schedule this week is such that I can't reschedule the consultation until next week, even if I did think someone would actually show up, so I've now wasted another week of my $1 month due to the failure of Crunch to deliver on its promises. Slick, right? Make a promise then break it but do it in a way that you string your victim along long enough to have them where you think they'll want to avoid paying the almost $100 necessary to get away from you. And, yes, they did make an impassioned plea that they'd do whatever it took to make it right, but, after getting ghosted twice why would I believe them a third time? By the way, the total was actually closer to $110 when you factor in the $10 paid for the coach consultation I paid for but they failed to deliver and for the privilege of being ghosted twice and having potentially productive time completely wasted. But, hey, they got their money without having to provide anything. (Remind me, what's it called when a business requires payment and then fails to honor its end of the agreement?) I decided to mark it down as a "stupid tax" for actually expecting this place would have any ethical compass and would make good on its promises. Additional troubling signs discovered too late: while trying to make contact, I went to the Crunch website and found the phone number in the "Contact us" section. Upon calling it I was informed that the number is not monitored. Calling the Shawnee gym netted an AI assistant who, when asked to get me to a live person, informed me that nobody was answering at the desk then, when told the reason I wanted to talk to someone was to cancel, promptly hung up. If you're thinking of joining here, stick to the basic month-to-month "use the equipment and leave" plan and avoid anything beyond that. At least one other review has said that Crunch continued to bill the card on file after cancellation, so you're probably best off not even walking through the door here. We'll see if they keep billing my card on file. I was specifically told they would not but given the result of other promises they made.....

I travel all over the country, which makes having a PF membership a great deal. After visiting…read moredozens of PFs from coast to coast, I can say definitively that this is one of the very best. They're very quick to fix broken machines and maintain them in good condition. Everything is spaced out nicely and they've recently added more Smith Machines in place of unused cardio machines (THANK YOU). What's more, I hate the Matrix machines, and this PF almost entirely has Life Fitness equipment. The employees are friendly and keep themselves busy keeping the place clean. Anything above your head does get very dusty, but unlike other PFs, I haven't had any of it fall on me. The best part of this PF is the lockers. I have no idea why newer PFs don't have the Keyless1 lockers, but very few do. This one has a bunch, and it's very much appreciated. To make this PF perfect, they need to add the hack squat machine that's going into a few PFs. That would round out this PF and make it the best.

This gym is more interested in selling classes in addition to the membership. You don't have to…read morejoin the classes, but the problem is when the classes take up all the usable space and members are left with little to none. For example, youth swim lessons and water aerobics take up the entire pool area on Saturdays, making it impossible if you would like to swim laps. "Alpha" fitness classes have two areas that take up a significant portion of the upstairs gym, and they run classes constantly. On top of all this, the equipment that is left for members to use (i.e. benches and machines) are old and falling apart. I personally had a pin slip from an adjustable bench when I had it set to incline for bench press. I fell back with it and chipped my tooth. For the money you pay and for the money they add for extra classes and "events", they should really have better stuff for the general membership. It presents as though little regard is given to the overall members.
