Hired them to do some pergo type flooring. Before hiring them I told them several times my floor wasn't level and the only reason I wasn't doing it myself and was hiring them was because the floor needed to be leveled first. The said they could do it, and we agreed on a fee for leveling the floor. Great. But then they didn't level the floor. The installer said it wasn't necessary when I came home and he was 3/4 done with the floor. When I complained about the final result, they didn't offer to take up the flooring and level it to make it right. They did remove the charge for leveling the floor but otherwise charged us full price for the install. 6 years later and our floor has been awful ever since Day 1 and I still hate how bouncy it is in many spots and its now starting to pull apart. I already need to pay for a new floor when should have lasted 15 years or more. I will say everyone we spoke with was kind and never rude, even if they didn't offer to make it right. read more

Buyer beware! Why can't we give zero stars? I had never been to an AJ Rose before and was recommended by a neighbor. Upon entering the store they seemed pretty helpful although the man Who 'helped' me was pretty ripe. I could smell him through my mask which wasn't a good sign. That aside we discussed what I was looking for, he walked around with a calculator and gave me an estimate but made no effort to write down what I had wanted. Apparently that's the customers job and then when I called to get a final price I was scolded and told that they wouldn't help me because I questioned the actual quote that was sent to me. Don't call the owner A.J. or the manager they clearly don't care nor do they want to discuss what my questions were. The store didn't have AC. It was hot. The management was lackadaisical and they clearly don't need your business! read more

After going to several different carpet stores in the area we finally chose A.J. Rose Carpets for our carpet runners on two sets of stairs. They had the best selection save for one other place and their prices were very competitive. Nita was incredibly helpful and wonderfully agreeable. The two installers, I regretfully have forgotten their names, were top notch. They installed the runners within a couple of hours, did a beautiful job, were extremely nice and cleaned up thoroughly after the job was complete. This was removed once before by the moderators. Hopefully they will keep in up this time. What happens when you mix sales reps who are unorganized and reps that are rude? The consumer gets screwed. Called the Saugus store a few weeks ago and spoke to Nita (sp) for a price on Core-tec Plus flooring and was quoted $2.59 sq ft for pallet pricing on materials alone. Questioned it because it was significantly lower than the other prices I had gotten. Was confirmed. Requested a quote for delivery and was told she would call back. She didn't. Called her back and was told the delivery guys were on vacation, she expected them back tomorrow. Called the next day and said the delivery guys were still on vacation....hmmmmm. Sounds unorganized but okay. Call the next day and Nita is unavailable. I see they have a Burlington store and call there and speak with Jeannie. Jeannie is nice and gets me a quote for delivery, $300. Okay! I assume because it is the same company Burlington can come close to Saugus on pricing. Jeannie says the pricing book is all the way across the showroom so she can't be sure but it is probably the same. Hate for you to walk all the way across the showroom. Save your strength. A few days go by and call Jeannie to place the order but need to confirm the price. Jeannie says the price is now $4.79. Hmmmmm, is that the pallet price? No, she can call the rep for pallet pricing, she'll get right back to me. Doesn't call right back so I call back to her. The rep hasn't called back but should be very soon. Don't get a call back that day so call the next day. Larry answers and says Jeannie is on vacation. Awesome! May I please have a price on the Core-tec for 1250 sq ft? $4.85. Is that the pallet pricing? No. Can you check the pallet pricing? Get a call back in about 10 minutes and Larry says the price is $4.79. Here's how the call ended: Me: "Can you explain why there was such a discrepancy between the two prices I got from A J Rose?" Larry: "No but if you got that price you should order through Saugus. I don't even know why you called this office." Me: "Well thank you for your professionalism." Larry: "I'm just trying to be rude here. I mean trying not to be rude." Me: SHM, hangs up phone. I like to use local companies when possible. This store made it difficult. I spoke with three different reps and each one didn't follow though as I would have wanted, if I was their manager. My suggestion is take your business elsewhere. read more

I purchased two rooms of carpeting from AJ Rose for a very reasonable price. When the carpet was installed the quality of the installation was excellent. However, there were a couple problems: the installers didn't arrive on time and did not come back on schedule to move the furniture back into the rooms. I posted a negative review on Yelp and the next day received a call from the owner. He apologized for what happened and committed to making it right. The installers came back to move the furniture and he had the carpet in my bedroom cleaned to compensate for the inconvenience. In today's world, this level of customer service is uncommon. I would definitely purchase carpet from AJ Rose in the future because I know that if there is a problem (and problems do happen) they will fix the problem and then some. read more

I love the carpet I just bought at the new A.J. Rose carpet store in Saugus. Their customer service was excellent. I needed carpet for my bedroom and the first one they showed me was the one I ended up choosing. The sales manager came to measure the next day and was a great help choosing the right color from the color swatch board he brought with him. The installers were excellent. They came right on time and moved my heavy bedroom furniture carefully. They worked fast and vacuumed everything before leaving. The carpet is plush and feels wonderful to walk on barefoot. I wouldnt do business with them again. Out experience was ok, which isn't what you want when you are spending a substantial amount of money on flooring and install. They made several mistakes with ordering and delivery and were slow to correct them. The floors they sold us on have not held up well, they scratch and dent very easily. The installation was ok - they're are gaps along the walls and they used flooring pieces that were damaged instead of sifting thru the wood and selecting nicer pieces. The installer also promised to even out the sloping of floors and never did. Overall, we didnt feel as though we got a quality job for the price we paid. read more

We were impressed with our sales person, Tim. We had a few issues getting the carpet to the warehouse and, therefore, the delivery scheduled - not an easy thing to do considering vacations. Michael found exactly what I was looking for within 10 minutes. I had been looking for months. Patrick the installers scheduler was most helpful with getting the installers to coordinate a time that met both of our schedules. A gave it a four star rating because of the installers. They didn't clean up after the installation. I specifically told them and showed them what I wanted cleaned up. I ended up vacuuming the stairs after they said they were finished and left. Had a great experience with A.J. Rose after a not-so good one with their competitor in Danversport. First we used the internet to thoroughly research what makes a good quality carpet. Then we researched who had the largest inventory locally. A.J. has the largest selection on the North Shore. Connie helped us when we arrived, adding suggestions and pulling samples from their overwheming choice. She also played referee when we came to a stalemate; I wanted big and bold; my husband wanted very light colors. We ended up buying Diamante carpet; two variations of the same pattern; big and bold for the hall, light for the staircase. It takes a while for the ordering process to happen so don't be in a rush. Tthey professionally measure first and send out very professional carpet installers. The installers arrived precisely at 8 am and had the whole thing finished, and old carpet removed in 2 hours tops. I think they even vacumed and cleaned up around the staircase. We cannot believe how soft and luxurious Diamante carpet is; the old carpet was frayed and stiff almost from the start. Do your homework, understand your options, then work with AJ Rose. Oh, and buy a high quality mat for underneath your carpet. read more
