My son is two years old and has been attending ABC Kiddieland for 2 months so far. At first I was a…read morebit hesitant because the area for 2 & 3 year olds is a small area. However, they've taken good care of my son. Ms Wilma is truly awesome with him. He has trouble chewing his food and she takes time to help cut his food so he can chew. It's also great that the school provides a catered lunch and snacks for the children. Another good thing about this day care is that he doesn't need to be toilet trained (unlike Rainbow Christian Preschool) so he could start right away. They do help encourage children to use the toilet too. I can only say great things about Ms Wilma and Lynda (school manager). Ms Lynda is on top of things and looks out for the kids best interest. My son goes here part-time and he has transitioned very well, his grandpa will usually drop him off and pick him up. In the morning they have breakfast around 8am, after that is playtime in the playground behind the school, working time (where I think they work on their motor skills), practice abc's or counting, at 11am they have lunch then nap from 11.30-1pm. Ms Wilma's background is having 20 years from a Montessori school in Manhattan which closed down. So she has great temperament working with children. I'm very glad my son is going here and I feel like he is with people who love him. Sometimes Ms. Wilma will send home a note letting us know about my son's day. It's a great joy to read and helps to give me insight on how he is developing. To make this place a five star would be to have more space for the toddlers and to let them wake up naturally if we pick them up early. Since my son is on a part-time schedule, there have been times where he may be sleeping when we go to pick him up and we would rather him wake up on his own instead of waking him up. Otherwise, we are so blessed that he is in great care. One tip I'd recommend is if you have to meet w/ the manager, then try around 12.30pm when there is downtime at the school since the kids might be sleeping.

Isabel and her team really care about every kid - they came to feel like an extension of our family. As parents we never worried about issues in attention, safety, hygiene, etc. And our daughter loved getting to see them, giving them big hugs every morning and often asking to see her teachers on the weekend. Isabel will spoil you with the meals she provides the kids. She is truly the only daycare that gives kids all their meals and snacks and they're actually REALLY healthy - probably healthier than how I fed my own child. I know Isabel is a big reason my daughter loves veggies, beans and lentils as much as she loves cookies. We paid the registration fee months ago because their facility was slated to be open SPRING 2022 and because the infant program was brand new and not yet open, there was no waitlist for our then 4mo baby. Now let's get into all the bad and deception - We were told by so many people before paying the fee that they were due to open "soon" aka in early spring. Fine with us so we paid. We were then told they're missing paperwork from the city for their opening but we can still expect a later spring opening date. Ok, fine again. We are now a few days shy of July and they have NO updates as to when they're going to open. They also never once updated us on the delay on their own. I always had to reach out myself. The good thing is we got our money back after months of lies. But what is money when compared to the urgency of enrolling one's child into a care center? There waitlists everywhere and I trusted them to enroll my daughter by spring. After months of endless waiting, we are back to square 1 with NO daycare option for our baby because now the waitlists are even longer for other places. If we would've known better, we would've just signed our daughter up for another daycare center months ago and join their actual waitlists with the expectation that yes, were on a waitlist and we now need to find our baby temporary care before enrollment. Another issue - SAFETY. Now, I can't guarantee this is going to be the case once they actually open, but I saw RECALLED FISHERPRICE ROCKERS that were the products of infant deaths in their center and recorded them too when I did my tour. I told their staff but not sure if they did anything with it. That should've honestly been my first red flag, but I was trusting them to listen to my concern and rid the facility of the rockers and I was suckered in by their no waitlist BS. Let's hope those rockers were actually thrown out.

Julia has always been attentive and is quick to respond. Communication through text and email has been excellent. All his teachers are wonderful to him and my son has made many friends which has helped with his social skills as well. Overall this center is wonderful and more importantly, it has been a great and positive experience for my son. We thank you for taking good care of our son. In regards to the application process, spots are not guaranteed since Baby Steps offer the courtesy to wait for the attending students to confirm when they are officially leaving. I have at some point told baby steps about leaving (moved to LI) and then changed my mind which Julia was nice to let me stay though she had applicants patiently waiting. Please be understanding of the process because keep in mind the same courtesy will be extended to you and when it does, you will be appreciative. I was fortunate enough to have my son attend as soon as he was two because the business just had opened not too long before but I can now imagine it would be more difficult since baby steps has built up a strong reputation. I wish the future parents luck and if lucky enough to get your child in the school, I guarantee, you and your child will be very happy.

Staff is nice and attentive, and they make homemade food that would smell really good in the morning sometimes :) Good job of sanitizing the facility and toys from what I had observed. The classroom is located on the 1st floor of a small residential building and might not be as fancy or obvious as the other large daycares, but they are clean, attentive, consider safety, and have everything toddlers need to grow and learn. They try hard to keep costs reasonable. My son (18mos) has been attending TLS since he was 6 months old and from the very start, he has loved it there! Every week he learns something new, and you can tell that Miss Cira and her staff put a lot of energy and thought into every kid's individual development. I love that the place is small, so we know each child gets lots of attention & the staff have a good understanding of each personality. They are also flexible with drop-off/pick-up times as long as it's between 8a-6p - which is perfect coverage for two parents with full-time jobs. They helped my baby build muscles to crawl, stand, walk, and now he's coming home reciting ABCs, counting, and building his vocabulary (mostly verbal English but some Spanish & basic ASL too)! Best of all, they've taught him to tidy up after himself so even at home just puts toys back when he's done with them... when he sees toys, pacifiers, or books on the floor (even the dog's toys lol) he says, 'uh oh!' and picks it up to put away or give to a grown-up (or dog)! He even wipes the table after himself and can wipe his nose/face (very convenient), and loves washing his hands. It doesn't get much better than that. At drop-off he sits at the door waiting for it to open & then runs inside without a backwards glance. At pick-up, he sometimes cries and runs back into the classroom because he's having too much fun to leave! While they're not the most consistent with communication/photos, Miss Cira will happily chat at pick-up or drop-off and texts for any questions or updates. I personally do not need constant photo updates since I'd rather the staff concentrated on the kids' activities and safety (vs. being distracted trying to get daily pics of every child) so just occasional photos works for us. I assume if some parents want more frequent updates, they'll provide that. We trust TLS and are very happy that our little one is excited for school every day.

From the very first day we were greeted with warmth and love, as if it was our second family. During drop-offs my oldest son always walked in confidently and happy. My husband and I also walked away with confidence and peace of mind that our son was being taken care of by highly responsible, loving and professional people and in a safe and secure place. We also knew that he would have an amazing learning experience and great so is interactions with other children. Now, our youngest (infant) son attends and we can honestly say we still hold those strong feelings. Our youngest son cannot wait to go everyday! Its a great sign when he gives me his jacket to put on every morning! I cannot say enough about the program itself, they are always up to something so creative through arts and crafts projects, sensory play and even seasonal food making. I have and will continue to recommend families to send their children here!
