    C & W Pump Pool & Motors

Beware, very expensive repair charges!! I contacted these folks to replace a sprinkler index valve…read more I had already replaced several components within the valve and it still wasn't indexing, so I knew the unit needed to be replaced. I also knew the make and model of my valve. When I called, the son told me the cost would be $85 for a service call, the cost of the valve ($90 for a different brand or $130 for my KRain6000 valve) plus $65 for an hourly rate thereafter. He came out when I wasn't home to look at the valve, check the manufacturer (I had already told him what it was) and do some troubleshooting (which I'd already done) and charged $85 for the service call. My husband and he decided that the easiest course of action was to replace the valve with the same make and model valve. He returned the next day with a new KRain6000 valve and took the top off of my old valve (10 screws) and replaced the float in the old valve with the float from the new valve. He also used a drill with a brush attachment to clean the inside of my old valve. He didn't replace any pvc or any other components. The whole job took less than 15 minutes. He then tested it and the valve was working correctly. I was happy it was working correctly, but he then handed me a bill for $262! This on top of the $85 that was paid the previous day! The valve wasn't $130 as he had quoted me it was $180 plus he charged $65 for the labor. I was annoyed and asked him why he came out the previous day to "look" at the valve when I had told him exactly what it was doing and knew the make and model. His response was he had to see it for himself. So, instead of the service call covering the repair it was just a look-see charge. After he left I looked up the cost of my valve online and it was less than $100 from several sources. So, I could have ordered it myself, removed the screws from the top of my old valve and replaced the components inside with the new components and saved myself $257! Silly me for thinking that when I hired C & W to replace an indexing valve it would only be the "guts" of the valve! I shudder to think what the total charge would have been if he'd actually had to cut off pvc, replace it and reglue it. My bill could have been over $500!! This was a lesson learned the hard way. I will NEVER use these guys for the repair of any pump or sprinkler system again. I will also be sure to share this information with every person I know.

this is actually C&W Pump, Pool & Motors. Horrendous experience. My appointment was for 10AM, i…read moreasked for them to try to get there as early as possible because i had things to do. I asked for the service person to bring 2 x 8amp 6x30mm time delay fuses and 1x 250mA 6x30mm time delay fuse. At 1024 i phoned C&W Pool, i was informed that he "got held up" and would be there soon. The shop is 4 minutes from my house per google maps. At 1045 I received a knock on the door. When i asked why he was so late i was informed that my appointment was between 1000-1030. When i asked him why he was 15 minutes late i was met with a blank stare and an apathetic shrug. I asked if he had the fuses in question, he looked more puzzled. I told him that if he didn't have the fuses that i requested he bring, he could not come in, and i was not going to pay him $125. He threw his hands up in the air and told me that he was "not going to take this abuse". It was my turn to be confused. He refused to tell me or show me that he had the fuses that i had requested. He told me that the fuses i wanted did not exist, and i didn't know what i was talking about. I decided it would be better if he left. I phoned to report his less than ideal service and found out it was a family owned business, with his wife being the person on the phone. She told me to come down and bring the fuses and they would sell them to me. I was now adament about not letting them past the threshold of my house. Here's the kicker; I had originally called just seeking the fuses and she told me she could not help me, and the only way to get the fuses was a $125 service call. i went to the shop with the fuses, pointed out to him that they did in fact exist, her husband told me they didn't have any. I waited four days. they arrived 45 minutes late, unprepared to complete the job per the customers request. The wife than told me that i saved myself $125 and I should be happy. her excuse was that they werent like Brighthouse, i only lost an hour of my day. When i told her that this was unacceptable, she threatened to call the police. So I left.
