I was initially evaluated by a recent medical school graduate with only four months of experience, who discharged me with a vague diagnosis of "headaches" and a prescription for nausea--without adhering to proper protocols or completing the diagnostic orders I arrived with. The attending physician never entered my room or spoke with me prior to discharge, relying solely on Dr. Zapien's inaccurate assertion that I had presented for headaches, which was far from the truth. It was only after a family member--an experienced Emergency Room Physician and faculty member at a leading medical school--advocated on my behalf that my discharge was canceled and I was admitted to 4 East. Unfortunately, conditions deteriorated further upon admission. My stay on 4 East was characterized by patient mistreatment and a disturbing disregard for ethical standards. My assigned nurse, Branden, exhibited gross unprofessionalism and moral insensitivity, engaging in unsolicited, inappropriate, and psychologically intrusive commentary that had no place in a medical setting. His conduct demonstrated a complete lack of respect for patient dignity, emotional well-being, and trauma-informed care principles. Another unknown doctor came in and told me in a terse tone that people live with my condition. I was moved without my doctor knowing to a regular room, I spent a few hours there and was flown out to a hospital in Houston for open-heart surgery! Ridiculous!!! I'm blessed that my two doctors held their own: Dr. Menon and Dr. Georgiadis.

Adrian took all my vital information before I was injected, ever so lovingly with a butterfly needle. He chooses to use this small needle because he does not like needles and prefers to keep his patients at ease. I don't remember what the injection was. Then barium was served in a styrofoam cup with a straw. (Yum Yum) With meds in place, I waited 45 minutes for the correct reaction in my body. This is where the wonderful music comes into play. Adrian chooses music he thinks his patients will enjoy. Had there been more space in the room I would have been bopping around. He chose exactly what I liked. Next was the CAT type machine. The music flashed me to the 1970"s, with John Denver, Harry Chapin, James Taylor, Elton John and enough more to last the 25 minutes of this procedure. Again I would have loved to dance around, but the procedure is a "do not move" one and therefore I did not want to have to retake this test. On the way out, Adrian gave me a CD of the 70's music. Not happy. I had a telehealth visit with my PA Edgar Garcia on Friday regarding blood work. He was…read moresending my prescription into my regular pharmacy however I told him they were closed over the weekend. He informed me I needed the medicine before then and what other pharmacy I would like. I told him Walmart Pharmacy in Edinburg off of 281. i hadn't heard anything else from Mr. Garcia or the pharmacy. On Saturday I called the pharmacy to see if the prescription was ready. The pharmacist proceeded to tell me that he tried calling the doctors office because the prescroption is not covered by my insurance. The out of pocket cost was going to be over 500 dollars. He said if we could call the office as well to help out. Well it's a Saturday and they aren't open so I had to call the answering service. In this case they only send the messages through to the on call doctors if it's a life or death situation or what they consider a medical emergency. Well my case is a medical emergency since my potassium is at a 6 and it needed to be lowered. The answering service sent my message through to the on call doctor, which was supposed to be that I needed a cheaper medication that the insurance would cover. Later on I received a message from the on call doctor which i am assuming was PA Adam Ortega wanting me to review the medication. The medication was the same one that had been sent and it was sent to the pharmacy that was closed for the weekend. In other words he didn't even open or read my chart. I then called back to the answering service and left them another message that I needed a cheaper medicine than what is listed and it was to be sent to the Walmart Pharmacy in Edinburg off of 281. The answering service guy said he would send it through and said if the doctor feels this is an emergency he will contact you back. Well I never received a call back or a message back from PA Adam Ortega. It's now Sunday morning and I am without the medication I was needing to lower my potassium since Friday and before Monday. I am going to have to go to Walmart and purchase this medication that is over 500 dollars out of pocket because someone isn't doing their job by reading the chart correctly or by picking up the phone and calling the patient directly. I've always been happy with VMAC and PA Edgar Garcia however, not this time with PA Adam Ortega.

Cesar Garcia, P.A. at this facility, took the time to look up the proper medication (even very late at night) to prescribe our daughter. He also notified Lee's Pharmacy of how my daughter's heart condition doesn't allow for her to take certain conditions. Lee's Pharmacy also took the time to research, making sure my daughter could take the medication Mr. Ceasar Garcia prescribed her, which she was able to take. Thank you to Mr. Ceasar Garcia and Lee Pharmacy for the care both facilities demonstrated in your fields of expertise towards our daughter's health care.

They had me come in 4 different times. Before I left I asked to get my results and they told me I would have to come in AGAIN to be able to get them, and that's when the doctor told me I could just get them emailed. I had gone 4 different times, and had to pay all times because no one there knows what to do or how to communicate. And apparently you can't get your own results emailed to you, and when I called to ask about it, the "manager" was being very rude. She kept saying that she didn't know who told me I could get my stuff emailed, after I kept telling her it was her own staff and even the doctors that told me that. If your own staff and DOCTORS are clearly not in understanding of your own policies, INFORM THEM. Horrible place and horrible staff and horrible service. Sad to say only one of their doctors actually seemed like he gave a f**.

Been here for about a month now. The food is awful and served mostly cold. Too greasy and spicy to…read morebe digested by my stomach. Staff can't speak with one voice. Today the physical therapist told me I could pick my discharge date. When I did I was told, "Oh, no, you can't be discharged without the PA's order and we don't know when the PA will visit the facility again. Could be tomorrow, next week or next month. Tried to call the PA myself to get some answers about my care. The PA refused to take my phone call. So here I am, the patient and I have no way of communicating with my health care team. I'm the patient and no one responds to me when I have questions. As a final note, they really push their home therapy after release. Must be a real money maker because when I declined this service they got really nasty to point of refusing my smallest request. Because i refused their home PT, they refused to give me an order for PT, even though they would have if i had agreed to their physical therapy. Bottom line, they seem to be only motivated by money not care for their patients.
