Im saddened to say that my mother died here... since her transfer 2 months before, she was no where…read morenear the level of happiness and joy she once received next door at Pathways... she became very depressed in the repression received... Please note, In my opinion Villa is a rehab center not designed for memory care... The residents in memory care are in a quickly renovated "locked down" wing with no access to TV (which i was informed could have a negative and adverse effect on their mental stability.. bs), missing interaction with others in a common area where their is a TV and sitting area along with no access to exercise or receiving the sunlight from outdoors. They are limited to their 1 hallway left gazing through the locked glass doors to the life in the common area which they once enjoyed next door across the way... truly caged in and awaiting death.. their dinning room is a converted patient room, the common siting area is a converted patient room... there is no stimulation nor exercise that I observed ... nor any room to exercise... they just walk back and forth with purse on shoulder and tennis shoes ready waiting the opportunity to enjoy the common area and to live as they once did. In fact, I would say the residents are encouraged to stay in bed... the poor souls I saw who remembered me all asked what they did wrong to be locked up in this place... they do remember the open spaces they came from, the roaming and walking of areas freely and the enjoyment of what little life they have left.. though their memory might be an issue, they are still human and their minds do enjoy life and the right to human dignity... do note, the nursing staff were supporting and attentive but they are also limited to this same locked in area as the residents.. making sure no one exists into the common area.. As for the accounting person, I was rudely and embarrassingly approached in a very unprofessional manner in a very public area concerning money "I owed"... sad to say, there was an error on their invoice... I gladly paid in full the next day... Never was an apology given for their mistake nor the unprofessionalism displayed... A very faux perception of the new management and makes one wonder who is actually running this facility... Villa truly needs to consult with and take lessons from Pathways Memory Care and Assisted Living next door... Again, in my opinion, and as I owe it to my friends who are still current residents and whose voices are muted and cannot be heard, until they change their mentality, practice and playbook of how memory care patients are treated, cared for and loved, DO NOT PLACE YOUR DEAR ONES HERE! It is a caged in excessively limited depressing environment ...which could lead to their early demise . Just my opinion.....

After a difficult hospitalization, mom was released to her apartment in the MC unit but now with a hospice service. The MC staff, whom I had already seen in previous times to be personable and attentive, were equally so after this big change in mom's condition. For 5-star aides Loretta, Joy, and Joan, it was as important to imbue a positive spirit into their work as to do a professional job with tasks of such as position changes, bathroom care, and bathing and dressing. Despite her weakened state, mom recognized and showed her appreciation of their care with a little joke or a "merci beaucoup." 5-star MC med techs Enos, Carlisa, and Y also greatly helped alleviate mom's suffering by adapting to her changing PRN medication needs. Many others behind the scenes also contributed. Thank you to everyone who extended themselves to meet mom's new and quite different needs as a resident in the MC unit who was also a person in hospice. Mom passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024.

It was a…read moredifficult decision, as she had been functioning on her own in an independent living facility. (She will turn 92 in just a month.) The attention to her daily needs has been both refreshing and urgently needed. Until we moved her to Ella Springs, we didn't realize how much neglection had been occurring on a daily basis. Although we've all pitched in and tried to help her, in the end, she was living on her own and insisting she was OK, living independently. Although the move was emotionally excruciating, it was the VERY BEST THING we did for her. She is already stronger physically due to eating 3 meals a day. No more, "Oh, I ate. Don't worry about me", that she would tell her 2 sons. Now, we know, she is eating and it is apparent that she is thriving. For anyone struggling with the decision to move a loved one into Assisted Living, please make your decision based on health, safety and peace of mind. Eventually, your loved one will adjust and be better off for your proactive decision. With empathy, Barbara's Clan

My mother was verbally abused often, like the caretakers aren't trained for dementia. I went down there with videos multiple times. They did not check on her one night for 17 hours and by the time I got there, her pillow was saturated in urine. She went in there on a walker and fell several times. They put her in wheelchair, I asked them to stop multiple times. She hasn't walked since. The last night she was there, the workers dropped her in the floor, naked, and stood there belittling her for 20 minutes. They kept telling her to get off the floor, when she can't even walk. They finally had a young man who picked her up and threw her in the bed, then started laughing. I can't undo what happened to my mom. This place is awful. BEWARE. Shame on the owners of this place.
