I , 100% recommend this place to anybody with back pain or problems. For the last year and a half my lower back has been in pain on and off. It was so bad to a point where I could not bend. When I moved just the slightest my back would lock up. I was recommended by a coworker to visit Dr. Smart. After a few visit my back pain started to ease up. Oh my gosh, where do I begin? I literally could not brush my hair I was in so much pain I couldn't raise my arm the day I met Dr. Smart. A friend recommended her to me, and they were able to get me in that same afternoon. She was so caring and explained everything in detail using visuals. She spent a great deal of time on me that day. By the next morning my arm was about 80% better, and by the next evening the pain vanished. I made a decision that week to leave my old chiropractor behind and switch to Smart Spine and Joint. Dr. Smart caught what could become a major issue and we are able to work on it, and I am optimistic that my cervical spine issue that is causing a lot of the shoulder and arm issues will be resolved. I called up and asked the person answering the phone if they accept new patients. Yes she said, she was very nice, and started to take my information. She later told me she needed to check with my insurance, and said she would call me back. Hours went by and I heard nothing. I called again just before closing time, and I spoke to someone who sound if she was in a coma. That person told me the other lady had to leave and no update could be given in re of my insurance, but that someone would look in to it the day after and get back to me. I waited two days before I called and the woman I spoke to was very rude and unpleasant to talk to, she told me someone would take care of that and get back to me but I could clearly hear that she didn't mean a word of what she said and just wanted to get rid of me. So no, they don't accept new patients, and they will let you know in a very unproffessional way. Stay away. read more

She's the only doctor who actually physically examined my pain in my shoulder and hip, does hands on massage, therapy and provides exercises for home follow up. Very great experience from beginning to end . I was under Dr. smarts care for 3 months after I was rear ended in a car wreck and her and her staff were great. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I made my first appointment due to an acute back pain issue, but I also have chronic neck issues thanks to 3 cervical fusions. After my first visit I had more range of motion in my neck than I've had in YEARS, and was able to bend over about 3 inches lower than when I walked in. I am now 3 appointments in and am beginning to feel better than I have in years. I honestly can not say enough good things! Dr. Smart is fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly, and has a great energy. **update: just learned that they charged my insurance $3,000 in "laboratories" of unnamed procedures. This facility is now under investigation. This place is a farce and it is run so poorly that I do not know how they are still in business. The person with the previous review about the insurance headache is correct. I also have an exceptional PPO plan that covers everything except a small visit copay. I went in during the holidays over what I believed was laryngitis. Came in at around 10:30AM to fill out all first time paperwork. The receptionist called my insurance provider and spent an hour "confirming my coverage". There were no other patients waiting to be seen. It wasn't until I said I was leaving because of work, I was told that I would be seen and be on my way-- 2 hours later. The nurse literally ran in, checked my eyes, mouth, ears, and prescribed an antibiotic and I was out the door in 5 minutes. As I was leaving, the receptionist charged me $65 and tried to 'school' me on how insurance works with deductibles. I called my insurance and they called the office to explain to THEM that they owed me a refund. I went back and the lady only refunded $35 and said that the rest was for new patient paperwork. It wasn't a big deal to me though I knew it was a lie. I recently learned that they charged my insurance $400 over a "lab" that they did NOT perform on me. Before learning this, I went back about two months ago to receive a prescription for mange because my rescue pup had it and my skin was itchy with little bumps. Also, because my throat was bothering me again. They prescribed amoxicillin and refused to prescribe mange cream because they thought the bumps on my leg were from an unknown allergy (though I am fortunate enough to not have any!) so they made me take a blood test and promised the results would be ready in two weeks. I finally hear from them after a whole month. I've stopped by the office TWICE during their regular hours (non holiday) and they've appeared closed though they've left a voicemail to request an appointment. Also, no one picks up the phone past 4PM it seems though they're supposed to be open until 5:30PM. Do NOT waste your time and money-- go elsewhere away from these thieves. P.S.you might as well not pay for insurance since the uninsured gets charged only 1/3 of the cost. read more

I was involved in a rear end collision in April and had to go through the agonizing process of trying to seek treatment and pain management. I was in excruciating pain and could barely walk for two weeks and the at-fault driver's insurance company was giving me the run around in regards to my treatment options. I ended up having to seek the advise of legal counsel and I have to say it was the best decision I ever made. Sue West provided me with a network of doctors that could assist me in getting my treatments started immediately. I decided to go with Dr. Smart's facility because of how close it was to my office. Dr. Smart and her staff are BEYOND professional and incredibly sincere in wanting to provide the best treatment possible. I have to say that I was in so much pain that I never thought it would stop. Through months of treatment and experimenting with various treatment options (i.e. steroid spinal injections) Dr. Smart was able to piece me back together. She always took the time to answer my emails/texts and was always a sensitive shoulder to lean on. I am forever grateful that my attorney recommended her. She truly helped me in the entire healing process. I can say that six months after the accident I can finally see a future with optimism. I cannot thank her or her staff enough for all of their diligent and meticulous work in order to put me back together. Moving forward I will remain with Dr. Smart for my chiropractic care. My nightmare began when I called to schedule an initial appointment. I'm on am HMO plan with my provider and I got Dr. Smart's name from my official provider's list which means they are in network and covered by my plan. The first time I called, the person at their front desk confirmed that they are in network, but said that I needed a referral from my PCP (which I knew was wrong because I had just seen my Dr. a few weeks ago and he said it was not needed). When I mentioned that I did not need it, they said they were going to verify with my insurance and call me back. They called me back the next day to tell me that my insurance provider had told them that a referral was needed. It struck me as very odd, but I played along and called my PCP. Again, my PCP told me I did not need one but that they would gladly give me one to make it easier. I felt like something was off and decided to call the insurance provider myself. They confirmed that they had actually spoken to Dr. Smart's office and let them know that I DID NOT need a referral. I asked if they were willing to go into a conference call with the Dr. Smart's office and they agreed. So, the 3 of us on the line, one more time, my insurance confirmed to their staff they they ARE in network and did NOT need a referral. They even gave them a reference number for the call and stayed on the line until Dr. Smart's office made the appointment. I thought my nightmare was over....but NO! Fast forward to today, when I show up for my appointment, fill out all the forms, hand in my insurance card and ID...time goes by...50 minutes. I ask what's going on and the lady at the front desk has the nerve to tell me: "oh we are working a few things out with your insurance because Dr. Smart is not on your network". I almost had an aneurysm. I told them that we had spent over an hour on the phone just the day before talking about this! To which she said: "yeah, it's just that the girl that your insurance spoke with...well, she doesn't really understand insurance and she didn't ask for all your information... but we just called your insurance and they told us that we're not on your network". I decided to call my insurance right there and then again because I knew that was a lie. I put my insurance on the line on speaker and they spent 30 minutes AGAIN explaining EVERY SINGLE BENEFIT I have to this lady. They even told her, "we have 2 other calls on record in which this information has been given to your office". In the end when the call was over and she hands me my phone back I simply said: " Cancel my appointment. I have been doing YOUR job for the last 3 days, and you have wasted my time enough. I can't trust your office to make an appointment and figure out insurance benefits, WHICH IS YOUR JOB, then I sure can't trust you with my health." She just replied with an attitude: "ok. I'll cancel, have a nice day". I wasted over 3 hours over the last couple of days getting nowhere with this Dr. My experience with this Dr's medical staff was so terrible that I have filed a FORMAL complaint with my insurance provider. It is a mystery for me how such incompetent people can keep their jobs. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE. See someone who is a professional and can do their job. read more

Dr. Smart is the first doctor to find and explain to me the debilitating pain I have been living with since 2005; the muscle spasms, knots, deep pain in lower back and down left leg and more. She is very knowledgeable and intelligent but sympathetic for your pain. She studies to understand the sources of the pain, the whats and whys. She deals with the facts, so different from the numerous doctors I have seen over the years. I have been seeing her for about 1 year now and have shown improvement in a disc bulge. The therapy sessions are thorough and extensive and if you follow her instruction you will be all the better for it! The staff are knowledgeable and kind. I was rear-ended in a car accident around 2010 which caused a popping neck. Dr. Smart took excellent care of me. She used massage and traction for my neck pain and popping. Then in 2015, I developed shoulder pain and left side numbness. Dr. Smart used massage, X-rays and recommended an MRI. With those results, she knew I needed cervical spine surgery and referred a spine surgeon. What I like so much about Dr. Smart is she utilizes a simple, thorough approach to get the best results.
