Oh dear LORD, what a cluster!…read more The only thing this place had going for it were its location and its hours. Location - close to our hotel. Hours - open when I needed them to be open. Other than that, boo hiss and NO. The place is tiny - fine, I can deal with that. But when your super-cramped aisles are blocked by large crates, making it impossible for your customers to pass through, you get a frown from me. And when your check-out area is so backed up with people waiting to pay that there's a ruckus in the back due to confusion, you get a glare from me. And when your self-check out lanes are bogged down by the machines needing assistance, and the one employee working that area is so taken with a lady that he's COMPLETELY IGNORING everybody and everything else around him, you get a snarl from me. The poor couple to our left had the red light at their station blinking for two minutes while the employee mooned over the blonde in stilettos. They finally gave up and walked to the end of the registered line. And the people behind us were waiting to ask a question while the employee tripped over his tongue, trying to invent reasons to touch the blonde in the furs. And we were stopped cold by the machine demanding an employee's attention, while the hapless employee was busy giggling over something the blonde in too much perfume was saying. Completely, incredibly, horribly unprofessional and pathetic. We went out of our way to avoid this store for the duration of our stay.

On a sign in the shop it describes itself as "Just what the neighbourhood needs". It stocks the usual stuff (sandwiches, salads, snacks, drinks, plus some fresh fruit, veg, meat, household articles). Now that the weather isn't so great and the green is just another roundabout I have less occasion to visit. Still, they sell a good selection of newspapers and magazines, they stock some of the more niche titles too rather than just Heat and OK! like the Plaza place on the other side of the green. Food and wine they say but of course it's just the basics, good for locals who've forgotten something at Waitrose.

I noticed when I got home and called them immediately with the time on my receipt so they could check their CCTV camera. Basically I had to fight with them quite a bit to get the £20 back from them. I bet they don't ask everybody else for the real ID. P.s. I am a 36 ys old mother with two kids, I do not think they can't tell that I am older than 20ys old from my appearance. Just across the road from the main entrance to Holland Park, this is a relatively small Waitrose, but still has a good selection of fresh produce, and a fair range of everyday groceries. I often pop in when in the area, as I like the quality of the vegetables especially. I have found the service to be much improved of late so have been happy to shop there, as well as buying Waitrose / John Lewis gift vouchers as reliable and simple presents! (NB there are check-outs at both the Kensington High Street and Earl's Court Road exits, so if one area is busy you can always use the other!).
Yet another threesome!
