I'd purchased my bar for about $6 in the US, and balked at having to pay £5.99 for a bar here. Still, I happened to chance upon Selfridges clearing their stock out and purchased 5 bars for £5. Heh. Walking by yesterday, they didn't seem to have Mo's Bacon Bar anymore. They did have about eight or nine other flavours, and, if you happen to see the peanut butter sea salt caramel cup, I'd recommend that too.

The wine selection is also a very good mix between the big name brands but also mixed up with some smaller producers to appeal to those who want to try something new. The price level is above the online shops and often the smaller shops as well but not so much to always make it obscenely expensive. It is however good to have a view what fair price is as some of the wines are a lot more expensive while others are reasonable priced. The selection of English sparkling wine was actually pretty impressive. I have not tried that much from the range but it has peaked my interest. The staff are also knowledgeable and very service-minded. There are also a few tasting machines, not as extensive as the Sampler or Vagabond Wines but something at least. The rating should be between three and four but looking at what better wine shops that I have given a four offer I came to the conclusion that it is closer to a three star rating. I frankly haven't changed much over the years. I stayed in South Kensington. I loved it. Across from Gloucester Road tube station was this Waitrose. It had everything that I needed. I tend to get lemons and make lemon tea in the morning. Waitrose had lemons, so I got three that lasted my entire stay. The baked goods section is excellent. I got croissants here. They were flaky, buttery, and yummy. I got some peanut brittle, too. It was so good. Butter tends to make anything taste better. I remember seeing self-checkouts here. I ended up wanting a human. He was great. I paid with a credit card. It worked perfectly. I'm so glad that this Waitrose still exists. It was a good grocery store that had everything I needed while I was here for a week. (38)

Also, English grocery stores aren't laid out the same. For example cookies might be in multiple locations rather than one designated "cookie aisle." Also it was interesting because you had to pay for a shopping cart. They did have a limited number of hand baskets. If they ran out of hand baskets, people would use the bags they brought and add there items into the bags. Then remove them when they got to the counter. It was nice because there weren't long lines, and they had a lot more self-serve kiosks than my local American grocery store.

Item selection for things (particularly vegetables and fruits) seems a little sparse. But admittedly I'm a tourist so perhaps that's expected for the area, climate, and time of year. Checkout is slightly disorganized (again, probably a "tourist ignorance" thing). Recyclable bags are available for pickup on a rail while walking through self-checkout. There's an automated gate that requires a receipt barcode to be scanned before exit is permitted. Ultimately I think this is a store that's 90% grocery store and 10% variety store. Nothing wrong with that but it was just a little surprising.

A huge organic selection. A whole shelf of tea. Fantastic ethnic cooking section chock full of sauces, ingredients, grains, rices, beans and any element you probably need, spices, decent bakery with breads, rolls, pitas, etc. Eggs and dairy, beer, wine, a lot of coconut water, and a fresh produce section (outside) which is standard, but nice to have. Things you won't find: fresh meats or fish. Par for the course! The family that runs it is very friendly as well (always so polite!) and I always leave feeling quite good about supporting a local food shop that is not only convenient, but tucked away from the madness of the Old Street roundabout.
