I was moving myself from Colorado to Georgia using my own truck and trailer. Unfortunately a series of incidents rendered my trailer unusable and the insurance company needed the trailer emptied. I contacted Chelsea Stegall at Smart Move in Wichita Falls Tx and she set everything into motion. She and her husband Derek evaluated what was on my trailer and gave me an estimate to move my stuff from Wichita Falls to Georgia which I felt was MORE than reasonable. I needed to be in Georgia by Sunday evening and they said they would make it happen. Derek and his crew consisting of Stephen, Phalon and Chandler agreed to meet at a parking lot near my hotel Friday afternoon and transfer everything from my trailer to their trucks. Friday afternoon rolled around and it turns out that the trucks promised by the rental company were not going to be made available and this is where Chelsea and Derek's customer service absolutely shone. Derek and one of the guys traveled as far away as Dallas/Ft Worth in order to secure two trucks and bring them back to Wichita Falls in order to keep my move on track as best as possible! Chelsea and Derek both had said that customer service was their priority and it was rapidly beginning to show. Chelsea called and assured me that the transfer from my trailer to the two trucks would definitely happen THAT evening and it did! The crew arrived by 5pm and were done by 10pm. It needs to be noted that this was done by a crew that had been working since early that morning and yet they all wanted to make sure that my bad situation was further impacted as little as possible by going above and beyond the normal service most other companies would have provided. The following Monday morning Derek and Stephen and two local guys showed up at my storage unit and unloaded the trucks into two different units in quick order. The owners Derek and Chelsea plus Stephen, Phalon and Chandler definitely are NOT giving lip service when they say that their customers satisfaction is their number one priority. ALL involved were able to help me reduce the incredibly high level of stress I was experiencing to near zero by going completely out of their way to move me from my wrecked cargo trailer in Wichita Falls Texas to Georgia in a few days time. If you are considering moving anywhere at all I can't express highly enough that Chelsea, Derek and their crew at Smart Move is THE absolute wisest choice you can make!

The trailer was delivered the day that they said. We got packed and had one issue. One side of the bulkhead used to lock our items in was broken. We called the dispatch office and they got us a new bulkhead that day. The trailer was hauled to the area near Fort Bragg, and with our free month of storage coupon, we paid nothing for that. They delivered the trailer on the proper date, and got it unloaded. They came the day after I called them to pick it up. I recommended them to my daughter and son-in-law who are making the same move, only on the military side.

First, the trailer is HUGE. Our apartment complex almost didn't let them leave it on the grounds because it is so big. That's not that big of a deal though. What really upset me is that when our things were delivered, they were badly damaged and many items ruined. Our coffee table was destroyed. 2 prints were destroyed. A lamp was destroyed. Many of our bookcases, headboards, etc had many damaged spots in the wood. Our policy did not provide full coverage, but it did provide for partial coverage. However, when I submitted my claim they refused to acknowledge it. They denied me twice before I filed a claim with the BBB. They have continued to refuse to compensate me anything for my losses. They said that they didn't pack it and can't verify the integrity of the packing. We used blankets and packing material. Because they won't acknowledge any fault, the only option the BBB has is to conduct mediation but at a cost to me. The second day was a different story! Only two people showed up to load 8,500 lbs of stuff. So one guy was the driver/loader and the other was cataloging everything. The driver barely spoke english. I called the company to complain about this, they talk a good game on the phone so don't let them fool you. Actions speak louder than words! "Yes sir this is definitely a problem, we will fix this issue right away! You should not have only two people packing and loading 8,500 lbs of house hold goods." Yeah the movers started at 9am and did not finish until after 8pm. Now onto the delivery day. Out of 5 guys only one guy spoke English. We gave them water and some McDonalds burgers hoping to get some good treatment! Hell no! These guys were horrible! As they were unpacking and removing boxes they stole several items! One of which was my son's XBOX 360! I filed a claim and called them to tell them about it. I was told, "We take stealing very seriously, do you have proof?" No I don't have proof? I didn't know the stuff was missing until I put my house together! I know my son's XBOX was there when the boxes were packed! Avoid these guys at all cost!

It look FOUR hours for 4 GUYS to load and unload a 720 sqft ONE BEDROOM apartment. Active Movers charged me over $1300 for a local one bedroom apartment move. They slow walked every single piece. Most of the time 2-3 guys would be working, the 4th was hanging out in the truck. It's almost comical how slow they worked, except the price more than doubled from the initial quote. The guy on the phone quoted me $100 for mileage. I gave him the addresses. He knew exactly where we were going. The mileage charge ended up $233. Over double the estimate. They charge professional mover prices, and they are not professionals. Bumped and banged furniture, hit every doorway with dolly or my stuff. To add insult to injury, unless you pay with cash or a check, they charge customers a 3.5% processing fee for credit and debit cards.
