Disclaimer: This is the first negative review I have ever written. I have never left a negative…read morereview online, only positive when I'm happy with a business but due to how horrible my experience was with this business, I had to inform others. Prep with Jen is not really prep with "Jen". I went by the Google reviews not realizing that the most recent review was over a year ago... If you are interested in private lessons, be prepared to pay $110+ for an hour and you aren't even getting sessions with Jen. She subcontracts her sessions out to other tutors and has very little oversight over the sessions other than her being cc'd on the summary emails. They don't record sessions (even my son's wyznat tutors record sessions!), and her tutors are not as qualified or engaging as she is. She picks up the phone and talks a lot with you before you sign up, builds a personal plan and approach but once you drop thousands of dollars on her packages, she disappears and only reappears when the tutor summons her over an extremely trivial issue (rescheduling class time requests in our case). She isn't interested in customer service and is only concerned with maximizing her tutors schedule with clients. I would not recommend at all - not only was the tutor not worth the rate, her customer service was horrible after we signed the contract UPDATE: In response to Jen's response, her claims are bogus. Her tutor wasn't happy that we asked to reschedule 3 times out of 8 sessions because of 1 time having the flu , one time a serious car accident and 1 time an unforeseeable conflict! Rather than picking up the phone and discussing with the family, Jen claimed my son was unengaged which was absolute lies! How non empathetic is that?! My son is an honors student with 4.3 GPA so forgive me if I think you're claims are bogus... She has zero evidence to back up her below claims, as my sons score already improved but majorly due to his own studying and not because of her tutors sessions which pretty much was a project management approach of watching my son complete assignments rather than truly explaining concepts. Although we accommodated changes in timing by her tutor for 5 sessions, her tutor for some reason didn't appreciate 3 reschedules and then made these bogus claims of unegagement to Jen that she decided to not even validate with the family. If you want personalized instruction with a tutoring organization that is invested in your personal success, this isn't the place for you.

This score was a massive 300-point improvement from my PSAT that I took the year before. Initially, Jen's class helped me to familiarize myself and solve the different types of reading, grammar, and math questions, giving me the initial bump to the 1450 range on a practice test. Then, she taught me to be more vigilant regarding the more deceptive questions, ultimately allowing me to get consistent scores in the mid to high 1500s on the College Board practice SATs. Throughout the process, Jen was very accommodating and answered all of my and my parent's questions about the DSAT. I highly recommend this class to students at all levels looking to improve their scores and can't thank Jen enough for my improvement.

I would recommend Tutor Troops to anyone looking to improve their ACT/SAT scores in preparation for college. Hasan sat down with our son initially to establish what course of action was better for him prior to proceeding with the tutoring session. I think that was very beneficial to him in the long term, as some students are better at Science than English, and if so, it's better to take the ACT. These, and other facts we had no idea of until we sat down with a professional tutor. Thank you Tutor Troops for your services, our family are highly appreciative and pleased.

After attending both the 2016 summer SAT program and the extended winter SAT program, I can firmly…read moresay that Elite Prep truly does help students to grow beyond their known limits. I have personally improved my SAT score and SAT Mathematics II test score by over 250 points: A feat that I could only accomplish through Elite Prep's instructors and curriculum. After attending other SAT prep academies, I found that many tend to cram hundreds of SAT vocabulary words and assign a ridiculous number of pages to students. By the end of these programs, students, including myself, cannot remember a single piece of valuable information. Elite Prep, on the other hand, thoroughly goes over each and every page of its books and assigns an appropriate number of vocab words, making sure that every single student understands concepts and solutions to complicated problems. I found that Elite Prep also tends to be fairly strict in preserving an atmosphere of comfortable and kind learning: an atmosphere where students speak up to learn from mistakes rather than staying quiet for the fear of embarrassment (an environment found in many other SAT prep academies). Overall, I would definitely recommend Elite Prep for anyone looking for that just right SAT prep class. p.s. There happens to be a deli right underneath Elite Prep where students can buy lunches or small snacks. This works well for students who don't happen to have packed lunches.

In order to truly improve the SAT score, it takes dedication. Honestly if you just stick with the plan throughly, your score will improve by a lot even though it may be challenging. The teachers there are very helpful and they will challenge you to always do your best. I also enrolled in their College Admissions Counseling, and I truly believe it was the reason I could successfully apply to all my colleges diligently and accurately. The advice and assistance given is crucial for not only writing essays, but submission timing, interviews, and pretty much anything that correlated with applying to college. They will help you throughout the entire process and it really is a great program so you should take advantage of it.

Once you do, they will charge your credit card even if you tell them to stop charging. This is exactly what happened to me. I'm sorry that I have to post this negative report. I am not one to do this type of thing, but in this case, I believe I was really treated badly and unfairly. I normally assume positive intent when I deal with people or with businesses, that's what I did this time too. But unfortunately, my assumption was wrong about Professional Tutoring LLC. Although, I have reached out to the owner multiple times and nicely requested for them not charge my credit card and for them to refund the amount they have already charged, they always refer to a contract and refuse to discuss. All the niceness and the care they exhibited to get us to sign-up disappeared fast! They have now charged me $900+ for services not rendered! So, parents beware! Sossena

Iv went to SEM and studied under Selina for about 3 years. I first started at the end of my sophomore year in high school studying for the SAT. This is not just the sit down and stare at practice tests all day tutoring spot. They teach why the answer is the answer and why other answers are not the correct one. They really do help the ins and outs of the test, showing you SAT tricks and tips as well. The people there motivate you to work harder and do your best. I never liked studying as a kid and to be honest, who does as a kid, but going to tutor was a fun time. There is laughter and fun there, but don't get me wrong, studies do come first. The individual started coughing in a strange way every 10 seconds or so and also made some other loud noises from his chest and throat. I used the ear plugs to be able to concentrate, but the sound level was just too high and made the ear plugs ineffective. I went to the front desk and told them a coughing individual should be given a separate room during Covid times. The women at the front desk said no, and since I am the one who is complaining she will move me to another room, plus I don't need to worry about coughing because the individual is coughing because of exam anxiety. I said, well if the individual needs special accommodation due to their personal circumstances, they should be accommodated in a special room to be alone, but she insisted I was the one who was "complaining" and she needed to move me to another room. I agreed and she logged me out from my unfinished exam session and took me to another room where she was not able to log me back in. I saw some browser pop-up issues and I tried to help her but she refused to accept help or even to listen to me. She said she didn't know what pop-up is or what another browser is. I asked her how much time she needed to log me back in to my test and unable to do anything, she responded: "Sir, I feel threatened you need to step out of the facility and leave". Shocked with her reaction and knowing that no reasoning would work with her I left the room went to the waiting area and started calling test center help line to see what my options are for taking the test. She called the police and described me to the police as a "male person of color is threatening me". The police came and I had to leave because in Virginia a business can just request a patron to leave without even a reason. The staff prevented me from finishing my exam for which I had paid $400, took me out of the exam room to transfer to another room to continue my exam and was not able to do it. At the end instead of apologizing and trying to find a way by calling the test center hotline, they called the cops claiming untruthfully that I was threatening them. I asked the cops to see the camera footage and I was calm the entire time and was asking how I could continue my exam, the staff told the cops that she just wanted me to be removed from the facility.
